Man Daigo played so tentatively, he made Ray Ray beat him. RAy RAy....SMH. I used to play Ray Ray's sagat in USF4 and use to beat him with my subpar Gief, how can this man beat the beast. Sure he's gotten better and Chun is a beast in SFV, but Daigo has Chuns in Japan that make Lud and RayRay's chun look like kindergarten play hour. At least Lud is a very good player, but Ray Ray........ just can't wrap my head...

Daigo is pretty much guaranteed to go to CPT finals already, so "easy win" probably had little to do with it. He's already in the top 10 rankings.
The Q&A, the exhibition, his stream live from NJ, the crowdfunding for the prize pot... Daigo was a major promotional element of this tourney, regardless of how well he did in the actual tourney.
He probably just wanted to promote the scene and provide hype...which he has.
If he just wanted "easy wins", there are plenty of closer ranking events in Asia he could have gone to.

He probably came to ECT for the same reason that he's going to one tourney a week for the next 10 weeks or so...even though he doesn't need the points.
To participate, encourage others to participate, and to bring visibility to events worldwide.

I mean the whole discussion. The guy isn't going to win everything. He's not Infil in SFV. I don't know why people are discussing his ECT performance to the point where people are questioning how good he is, not just here, but on twitter too.
He's had good results comparable to a lot of the best players in the top 10. He's just not had results like Tokido and Infil.

I have never seen this guy get so animated, such a calm character every other time I've seen him. It seems he was told for a long time that he was no good in SF and now he beat the beast....Dang, with that explosion, he's about to burst into super saiyan mode. Could somebody put the yellow hair transformation on him, that'd be a good gif..I interviewed both Ludovic and RayRay after their Daigo wins. Videos are going up soon on FloKO.
