No F2P is nice! The Rayman games were good, but them going F2P distanced me from the franchise. Day one on Android.

Nintendo stock is rising right now lol

Will crash back down when they realize it's a runner, regardless of quality, and not a traditional Mario game. A runner makes complete sense and should have been expected. Yet many keep holding out for the full traditional experience and that's not coming. Nintendo said that directly and clearly yet people don't listen.

DeNA aren't only helping with F2P games. I can't follow that logic.

DeNA has said at least once that all the Nintendo games they're co-developing are F2P. Maybe plans changed, dunno.

Anyway, releasing this as a premium game seems like a pretty questionable move in the current mobile market, even given the strength of the Mario IP. Hope it works out for them, but I wouldn't be surprised to see this converted into an F2P title sometime next year.

It's just the next step for Nintendo. They were way too protective about their IP's, now every child can play Mario on their mobile device and if they want the AAA-experience, they can buy the NX.
Off topic, but this is what Pachter always said about Nintendo and what their future need to be.

Yeah, I can see why they're doing this. Use mobile games to hook people in, then use that as a gateway to sell a "full fat" experience to those people.

I don't mind an Endless Runner in as much as a lot of 2D Marios, particularly NSMB, tend to end up having that sort of momentum and flow once you get to grips with the course.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
What I want to know is did Apple give Nintendo a kickback for the iOS first or is this of Nintendo's choosing?

Ok serious question...why can't Sony publish Uncharted or Microsoft publish Halo on a Nintendo platform?

Why would they want to put it on a platform where they would make nothing?

Nintendo would make insane amounts of cash by bringing their games to PS4 and/or Xbone.

Just like they're going to make insane amounts of cash from Mario being on iOS/Android, to keep things on topic.

I love the new animations Mario has when jumping over enemies and such (at least I can't recall them from previous NSMB games...)

I expected Mario to hit iOS, but not like this. Holy fuck... Not into endless runners, but I'll buy it cause it's Mario..

Why portrait, though?

Because it's easy to play one handed in portrait mode. Most people just play games to kill time while they're waiting in line or something, not everyone wants to play two handed games like it's a DS.

GO BUY NINTENDO STOCK!

If PoGo is to be trusted, financial market should over react tomorrow, and correct in a week.

Buy today, sell just before the weekend.

They are going to make BANK in Japan. BANK!

First Pokemon GO, now Super Mario RUN and next in line are Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem... GAWD, you cannot beat a line up like that.

Ok serious question...if they can put games on iPhone then why not Xbone/PS4?

Really? Thats a serious question?
They can release their games on Xbox or PS4 but then why would people need to buy their consoles? iPhone isnt a competitor

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
No iAP ? Good.

They will milk us with Fire Emblem though lol.

This is great. Move the cheaper New Super Mario Bros look over to mobile and give us deeper Mario titles on the NX.

Yikes, a runner? Maybe Nintendo's mobile offerings just wont be for me.

The mobile offers aren't aimed at anyone posting on GAF and that's the smartest thing about them. It's more like, "if you happen to enjoy them, that's great and more money for Nintendo."

I'm surprised to see so many people complaining and criticizing Nintendo for this game. It just looks fun and simple. Great quick game to play on the cellphone when you have a minute.

At the Apple conference.

Details:

- In Mario for iOS, you'll play a plumber who must fill all of the headphone jacks before time runs out. (lol)
- Apparently similar to the Rayman games, and jumps over gaps and enemies by tapping on the screen. The longer you tap, the higher and longer Mario jumps.
- There's also a battle mode for multiple players
- Paid game, not free to play, no subscriptions or anything. Pricing to be announced later, but will come out in time for holiday 2016.
- There's also a set of Super Mario stickers for iMessage, that will come out alongside iOS 10.

I was (and still am) watching it live and as soon as I heard the words, "But someone is missing", I knew it was Mario. Having Mr. Miyamoto come on stage though was amazing. I lost it, lol. Legitimate surprise. Nintendo needs to roll off the Breath of the Wild, Pokemon Go, and Mario Run blowouts with an NX reveal...soon! Here's hoping soon.

Huh? It's an auto runner : this is the best kind of platformer on mobile.
Virtual dpads for controlling direction of movement is the absolute worst mobile trend.
