Super Mario Maker for 3DS will not support 3D

I never realized 3D support was a deal maker/breaker for people on 3DS, I don't know anyone who actually uses it anymore.

Really? Think most people like it on their New 3DS systems. Never used it on my old 3DS but have it on my New 3DS on all the time.

Is this the only 3Ds game that has no 3D support? Or are there others?

No, it's quite shameful how many games don't support it. Pokemon Picross, Hydroventure, Retro City Rampage, Ultimate NES Remix, and many more.

The majority of games that don't support it are either shoddy ports or pokemon games (I'm convinced TPCI is too busy salivating at ios to give a shit).
It's a shame because X/Y's overworld actually looks good where 3D is supported.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Never expected 3D to begin with since they never said it would.

There are others.

Pokemon games have no 3D in the overworld. Dragon Quest VIII and Zero Time Dilemma have none full stop.

I didn't know that. I always assumed the 3D was compulsory.

I'm not getting the cynicism. Like it's one of their best games on a system that's played by more people. This seems like a no-brainer and not the bullshit "lazy devs cash in" everybody is screaming.

No online does suck though.
I don't think you can still call it one of their best games after the online is gutted.

The European version will have 3D:

I wish.

EU cover looks so much better than US. 😍

What a bizarre series of decisions for this game. Wasn't planning on purchasing it after hearing about the online. This is just adding insult to injury.

I never use the 3D on my 3DS, and can't believe people care about this.

The online sharing thing yeah, but this is almost a good thing in my opinion.
Best feature of new 3ds is stable 3d as Nintendo dtated themself. so yeah, people and even Nintendo cares, but not for this game...

Nintendo being Nintendo again.

Calling this a cash grab is an insult to cash grabs. I mean, most cash grabs at least aren't actively and pointlessly far more shitty than the original.

Would the game even be able to run in 3D?

Some Mario Makers very quickly turn into an absolute clusterfuck, which I assume would massively massively bog down the system while playing it?

A co-worker just got his young daughter a 2DS, and had been considering getting her a Wii U because she always tries Mario Maker at kiosks... and now he's happy he doesn't have to.

I think being able to put this great toolset in the hands of more people, even if it's 2D and offline, is great. Especially for kids.

It'll probably sell pretty well this holiday season.

Such a bizarrely half arsed port.

I know none of the omitted features fundamentally break the game, but it just strikes of a complete lack of care for either the customer or the overall experience they first envisioned for the title by tossing it out like this. It reeks of a lazy cash grab.

Lack of 3D isn't a deal breaker for me, but it definitely would have made the retro graphics pop. Combined with the lack of online this is really looking like quite a disappointing port. Could've been so good too.

What the hell? This would've been ideal after loads of people didn't like the 'pop out / shadows' nature of the game, it would work great in 3D. Oh well, I have on Wii U already so it's not like I was going to double dip.

not all wii u levels will run on 3ds and 3D costs more horsepower so theres definitely hardware limitations.

No online, no 3D...Why are they even releasing this?

cheap and easy port, will make money and helps fill up the 3DS lineup for the holiday so Nintendo has something to advertise and remind people they exist until the NX announcement in January.

No. Nintendo pretty much said it was up the dev what features are used or not. Theres a one piece game that has no 3D support because they decided to use those resources to have better visuals instead.

The last thing I would care fo this game. Still I'm wondering why not even the New 3DS don't support it.

EU cover looks so much better than US.
Really? That looks ugly and poorly designed imo. It's like an attempt I would make in photoshop and then scrap it for looking too random.

You can’t search for specific courses and you can’t share courses online which is the whole point of the game is the real deal breaker. No 3d is not a big deal.

Hope they announce that Mario Maker World will be a pack in with the NX, really nailing the coffin of this joke.

I don't care about the lack of 3D, but the lack of online play does not make any sense at all. If you can't play creations of people around the world, just like in the Wii U version, then why should this port exist?

The bookmark feature was patched into the Wii U game, It's possible they could update it to include the missing online component.

People are complaining about no 3D just for the sake of it, was never a selling point of this game. It's a 2D Mario maker.

I won't buy this initially as I require the online stuff, but it's great for groups of kids who play locally. I think sharing levels this way would be more fun and social.

Your would imagine that a portable version would be amazing

Yet Nintendo manages to make it irrelevant

Oh come on now, it's not irrelevant. It features 100 Nintendo courses and UNLIMITED courses from the community. Sure, the Wii U version is miles ahead but A) not that many people own a Wii U and this amazing game should be played by as many people as possible and B) you can't take the Wii U with you wherever you go.

I wish Nintendo would just add the functionality to share unfinished levels between 3DS and Wii U. Build a level on 3DS, upload it over Wii U. Start building a level on Wii U, transfer it on 3DS to continue in the bus or something. There's so much they could do here.

The lack of online sharing was enough to make me skip the game. This just lets me know my decision isn't wrong.

What a shame, I really wanted to get this game. But I'm not gonna pay for a butchered port.

Boxboy is another one. I still love that game, but it's sad to see non-3D games on 3DS. I enjoy the effect a lot.

How do you play your Wii U on the train? I would like to make and play Mario Maker on the train, or away from the home.
Super Mario run releases later this year and will be far cheaper😂

But seriously this will sell quite nicely in Japan
