Abuse was a DOS game? I am almost 100% I played it on windows. Shadow Warrior too and a ton of other games in the video.

Holy **** Blackthorne. That was such a brutal game back then, and it was so badass to shoot someone behind you :D

Yeah, Blackthrone was awesome, although I played it first at a friend's house on Super Nintendo if I remember right. Isn't that behind the back shot a "no look shot" too?

Stunts indeed was magnificent.

Finally someone else who played stunts!

Oh god I played that game to death. I remember that the jumps made me feel a little queasy. Felt pretty realistic at the time.

I also loved the glitch that occasionally put you at top speed* no matter where you drove!

And and! And I'd always put tiny little banked bunny hops in my courses since you could get some air on them, which really helped you build speed quickly.

And and and. Best game.

*like, off-the-charts-fast. Faster than you could normally go.

I'm about a minute in, is the music playing (near the beginning at least) the Geoscape music from Original XCOM/UFO: Enemy Unknown?

DOS nostalgia is the best nostalgia. I can't help feeling there was a game they were missing, though.

I did not play even half of the games listed in this video. I wonder how a number of them are to go back to at this point, or whether their input method is just a bit too cumbersome.

When life lets up I think I may try out some DosBox greatness again through GoG.

I'm looking for a DOS game which name I don't remember.

It was like Contra (Platform shooter) but in the desert... That's all I can remember, I think the main char was bald.

According to the description, yeah.

4D sports boxing, Stunts, Mortal Kombat, Tyrian, Crusader: No Remorse, Screamer, TIE Fighter.. ah.

No Little Big Adventure though? C'mon!

so many great games. i didn't see my favorite though, BattleTech: The Crescent Hawks' Inception, hehe. Always wondered why that particular strategy/rpg format was never revisited... flawed game, but it had so much potential. Also nice to see some of the SSI goldbox games there. My favorite was Dark Sun, but I also played the hell out of the Dragonlance ones.

I recently bought a used Roland MT-32...nice way to revisit some of these games with dosbox. The "MT-32 + dosbox" station is always a hit at my yearly lanfests, hehe

Damn, I've played and enjoyed most of those games. And a lot of those games are directly responsible for me still loving games.

After watching this I searched danageroud dave on youtube. I closed it after 1 minute. The sound effects were so bad.....In my head it was music to my ears but in reality....my god.

Nice video, but notable lack of Sierra adventure games (but nice to see Jones in the Fast Lane), the Wing Commander series (or Strike Commander for that matter), Maniac Mansion/DOTT (but nice to see Sam and Max in there), Test Drive 2 The Duel!, Falcon 4.0 (or DOS era flight sims in general), Comanche, 7th Guest, also did I not catch any Ultima games in there?

I remember when Kings Quest V came on like 12 3.5" floppies, clocked in at around 10 megs fully installed, and that was a HUGE game at the time.

They put lots of first person RPG games like Dungeon Master or Lands of Lore but they forgot Ultima 7. Also some games like Panzer General, Total Annihilation, Disc World, King Quest, Larry, Aladdin or The Lion King or Cannon Fodder.

Bundesliga Manager Hattrick. (Football management game) I played this dozens of hours with my brother and his friends.

Discworld also was really good.

Seeing Commander Keen 4 in those videos always bring a smile to my face. I played that game for hours and hours.

Edit. Also Tyrian <3

what, no police quest?

but seriously. As someone who just recently finished fixing up an old 486 and managed to get it running without any real issues, this tugs at the heartstrings. I really enjoy watching these vids, along with the ones that pop up around new years from dosnostalgia about dos games that were released 20 years ago.

I'm actually playing through the original Syndicate right now. It's not an easy game (the pathfinding is horrible among other things), but man do I enjoy it.

Wooooooooooooooah.

I remember playing 4D Boxing as a kid, but I COMPLETELY forgot about it until right now.

That was a very weird feeling.

Watching this I feel that most games we have now aren't as creative or "big" in scope compared to the old Dos games. If you guys understand what I mean, but man the nostalgia here watching that makes me sad

I would bang a hot farmer!

It was 9 5.25" floppies, startup disk + 8 game disks. I still own it and just checked. :)

Some notable games missing IMO:

Full Throttle
Broken Sword
Discworld
Little big adventure
Sid Meier's Pirates
Transport Tycoon

Yup.

That's pretty much what I came here to post. It felt like more developers innovated and reached for the stars back in those days, though we also still had our fair share of crappy games to say the least.

DOS is on of those platforms where I have never gone back to check out the library besides the classics. I really should do that.

I did recently complete a playthrough of Wizardry 6 though. Not finished watching, so not sure if it makes the list, but man was it fun. Will be moving onto 7 (not Gold) after a brief hiatus!

Why yes, yes it is. UFO: Enemy Unknown music was very atmospheric, I had the Interceptor theme as my ringtone for so long.

Such a dose of nostalgia in this one video, I remember the days of DOS gaming fondly (warts and all).

dofry

That's "Dr." dofry to you.
Yup. You were like "I'm not gonna even look at you when I kill you."

A lot of great games in that video but it is missing Moonstone :(

Moonstone was on Amiga where I played it and remember it from. Seems later there was a PC version too. Did not know that.

Happy times, happy times. Also, that picture of Wing Commander is one reason I am waiting for Star Citizen to be something. It attacks directly at my nostalgic heart strings. I need some space drama.

Oh my God. I need to go play Panzer General right now. That and 2 were some of my favorite things of the 90s.

Loved Cannon Fodder as well, played the Shareware version so many times..

Great trip down memory lane!

I played the shit out of 30% of those games. Disappointed in the lack of Sierra point and click games, though. You know the kind. They came on 57 floppies and the 53rd one was always broken.

No Amazon. No Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. No Leisure Suit Larry. No Under a Killing Moon (though, that may be windows)

But, still quite a few games I haven't seen in soooo long. God, damn some of them did NOT age well, lol.

Edit: I, too, played the shit out of Stunts. I did not realize everyone else on the planet did, too.

So many memories.
So many question marks (aka what was that?).
So many missing gems like Ultima, Strike Commander, Full Throttle, Baldurs Gate or Privateer.
