The vast majority of what we sell is not on preorder - the only exception being the upcoming Silver Case release - so we charge at the time an order is placed (because shipping occurs just a few days later typically).

So how will Silver Case pre-orders work? Will there still be a small print, and how much later from the order will the the release day be?

Received my copy of Shadow Complex in the email today, it came in a bubble wrap padded envelope and the disk was loose inside its box.

Pretty bummed out :(

If you want to collect PS4 games this is something you have to accept sooner or later. PS4 cases/discs just are loose sometimes, this has nothing to do with LRG or the envelope.

It is extremely unlikely that this will damage the disc though, as they are very scratch resistant.

Great Mini Doc on Limited Run is out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbSNN406Np8

Should we really be calling this a documentary? No mention at all of any of the hickups (except for underestimating the demand for Söldner-X, which they use the following understatement for in the video: "It's possible that demand was just a little bit underestimated.". It's possible...?).

Hickups are perfectly normal for a start-up. There's no shame in them. Josh even said as much as that he had to learn a lot of stuff on the job. Wasted opportunity to tackle some of the things that went wrong imo, if you're really trying to make a documentary that goes somewhat in depth.

What about the challenges the guys at LRG faced and are facing? I mean, some deals didn't work out as far as we know (SEGA with Yakuza). Why isn't that stuff tackled in this video? Again, that's just how business goes. No shame either because Josh and Douglas no doubt tried their best to land some deals they missed out on.

I'm not against this type of stuff, btw, it's great that LRG gets exposure for what it does. But they could've made it a little more like a actual documentary and a little less like a long ad.

What that documentary reminded me was about Oddworld. I forgot that game had gotten signed up so fast already, and that they were polling about the remaining two games (Munch/Stranger) getting physical releases. I hope that still happens.

What's the best way to get 1x PS4 thomas, 2 x Vita thomas. 1 to keep sealed and 1 to open for vita. PS4 to keep sealed. I know there's a limit per customer. Also they sell the outer sleeves as protection. Id like those as well. Recommended to do it all in 1 order?

If you have time to yea. Save on shipping that way

Interesting stuff. I always like some backstory. Crazy how they were about to shut down and yet here we are one year later. Congrats!
Also very interesting was the fact that they could go below Sony's MOQ by paying a fee. That answers a question I had.

Do you guys think the section of the video where they start to "imagine" what future releases might be in store could have been clues? I saw:

Bionic Commando Rearmed
Jamestown+
Tembo the Badass Elephant

It could be a tease.

BUT, I'm more interested in PSO2 if that ever happens.

It was certainly cool to see the history, and I feel that My Life In Gaming legit just love LRG and wanted to show how it came to be and why it was important.

As for the "future" hint, Jamestown+ seems the most likely if it was. I would be 1000% ok with this

Phantasy Star Online 2.

By the way, I think the Vita exclusive next month could be Murasaki Baby. It's a Vita exclusive from an Italian developer.

I get the feeling Sony funded, but that it wasn't the owner of the game. We never know how these contracts are signed, but it's the only other Italian publisher/developer I can think of other than Mixed Bag.

Milestone are Italian. But I don't think they need any help with physical releases.

I've come round to the idea that this Vita exclusive isn't actually an exclusive, just q game that isn't on PS4.

Maybe it is another Oddworld after all!

We'll have preorders open for a week or so and then start manufacturing. Since this is our first PC release we aren't 100% on the timeline for manufacturing and assembly. This will surely still end up being a small print.

Final run numbers will be announced when preorders end. Each copy will be individually numbered.

This was filmed right before Söldner went on sale so we hadn't had this drama yet. Definitely would have touched on it otherwise.

Think everyone missed this?

Ska Studios confirm LRG release of Salt & Sanctuary once the Vita port is done.

Ok, makes a bit more sense. But there was the Octodad tie thingy for example, which was also somewhat of a learning moment for you, wasn't it? I mean, you've brought it up yourself a couple of times about how you didn't like that type of pre-order stuff.

And as I mentioned: the challenges, the deals that fell through (if there were any, apart from Yakuza) and how the perception among game devs/publishers of what you can do for them may have changed over the past year.

Anyway, LRG can only answer the questions that they get asked obviously. I feel like those YT guys could've made considerably more out of this. A documentary is usually a lot better if some of the hardships that have been overcome in the process of becoming who you are as a person/company/whatever are also shown. Now it's basically: we were running out of money and took a gamble. That's it. Meanwhile, there was so much more going on behind the scenes. From you guys learning the ropes of negotiating and being a publisher in general, to travelling to conventions to meet people, to Douglas working his arse of to get 1000s of packages out of the door in a timely manner.

Nice! I'm really glad that this model is being used! I think I brought it up a while back, but it wasn't feasible at the time. Too bad it can't be done all the time, but it's appreciated when releases do it. Only Gaijinworks has done something similar (although orders are usually open for like, a month) but the wait on those... different story...

It just makes a lot of sense for this. We're not tied to any MOQs on PC so if only 100 get ordered, we're all set!
