About Ember
“Back in the earliest days, there was no sun and the world was dark. The heavens opened up and stars fell like beacons into the pitch black world, and they were known as “Embers”. Powerful and wise druids of a primordial race, “the Lightbringers," roamed the land searching for this luminous matter. They performed a ritual of awakening to call the “Embers” out of their deep sleep. Suddenly the world became bright, and the veil of darkness was lifted. The Embers were the embodiment of magical flame, light, and life, but as word spread about the sheer power of the Embers, they came to be hunted and captured…and so the War for Ember began…”

It's fun, though I find myself sort of struggling against the interface too much (particularly the sort of odd way to assign targets). Likely a result of the dual platform development. Still, for 10 bucks you could do a lot worse.

It's a very competent CRPG for $10, sure it doesn't do anything particularly new but if you like the RPGs of old this will at least be a satisfactory game.

Honestly, I find it to be more than satisfactory. Probably the most enjoyable CRPGs I've played in years. And the interface is very well done IMO.

Things like combat mechanics, for example, have been modernized without feeling dumbed down.

Great game!

I just ordered an iPhone 7 Plus and was looking for a pretty game to test the new hardware/bigger screen. I'm wondering if this is the game for me. I typically don't like on screen joysticks and this seems pretty complicated for a mobile interface.

There are no joysticks in this game. You tap to move and draw lines to whoever you want to attack/heal during combat. Combat is real time and if you let it go, it'Il auto target.

But the fun, IMO, is using the pause feature that lets you set up your attacks and spells and then playing them out. You can even set it to auto pause if one of your characters is close to death.

And this is probably the best interface for this type of game on mobile. Nowhere near as overwhelming as that of something like Baldur's Gate. Being designed from the ground up for mobile, it's even better than ARPGs like Titan Quest, which I found to be a poor port.

I'm running the game on a 6S+ and the text may be a bit small but it's still very playable. I actually play it on my phone over my iPad mini 2.
