Driveclub VR launches for PS VR on October 13 for $39.99.

Is the whole of the original Driveclub essentially included within this? It's all been a bit unclear. And do you know what the discount is? Assuming there's still going to be one.

Nobody's suggesting doing it for free. But if the game comes with all the original tracks etc it feels like a DLC expansion is more appropriate.

There is truly some absolutely idiotic comments happening in this thread.

Simple analogy, new iPhone comes out once a year, specifically the 2nd year cycle of a 'S' model, same phone with minor changes in the guts and consumers are expected to pay the full price again (and line up to do it).

How can you literally not understand the basic model of 'Company works on product and pays people to make it'

'Consumer chooses to consume product and paid said company for product'

If you don't want to be a consumer then don't consume, but don't sit there and complain that you're not getting a 'deal', or suggest it's a bad deal for the consumers that want the product, for the product has changed and had work done to it.

Seriously, you can't be that daft?

When a Game of The Year edition comes out with all DLC content included - no one suggests that all DLC should be made available for free to everyone

Alot of work has went into new tracks, cars, modes and the small factor of VR and the optimisation required to get it running at a solid 60fps from 30fps.

I dont grudge one bit what I have spend on Driveclub and Season Pass and will be buying VR day 1.

Well, that's a pretty daft analogy seeing as the wages apple pay are miniscule, and you're mostly paying for actual physical hardware.

Yes, you can be that daft or you're trolling to troll.

mostly paying for actual physical hardware.
The price for the material is around a quarter of the retail price. So the rest is far from physical :)

But back to topic. I'm looking forward to the discount for DLC owners. Hopefully like 10€ off?

This isn't an expansion. Please stop making analogies you know are flawed.

It's aditional content and features. But yeah, not an expansion at all, it's actually a full remaster for a brand new generation of consoles like the other poster said.

I'm done here, keep on fighting.

The developer himself just stated in here that it's practically a remaster...

I still don't understand why you couldn't do all this for free.
........ I'm speechless even in sarcasm

You were just telling us that elite and project cars were doing for free ... what the heck
Your right, you don't.

How did all those pc developers manage to add vr without charging $40 for it? Look at Elite. Look at Project Cars.
I mean look at that

Well he's not implying free per se, just a lot cheaper I guess.
But several people in this thread wanted it for free

Googling "project cars VR price" came up with nothing , same with elite since , since , you know once you use those exemples as arguments in a conversation .....

Afterwards , all i'm seeing is a moved goalpost

There shouldn't be any discount, Driveclub and Driveclub VR are completely different products. And for people who disagree with this, I have a simple solution – don't want, don't buy. Let the market decide.

And then there comes Digital Foundry saying Driveclub VR is the single best VR racing experience yet. That may be because it isn't tacked on in a hurry but done with care.

Though I do wonder what became of the hinted bargain offer for existing Driveclub owners with season pass...?

Fucking embarrassing entitlement by concerned fools in this thread. Thanks Rushy for clarifying further.

Assembly coats are one thing, R&D is another. If you think any talented engineer in the Bay Area can be retained for minimal pay you're completely out of touch with reality. As a guideline: if you want something, it's the result of an expensive investment by skilled people who deserve to be paid for their work.

I thought the super ridiculousness of it was enough, but I'll take it into consideration next time.

You would be right, if there hadn't been multiple posters basically saying just that. If this had been a sensible discussion your post would have been more obvious. Unfortunately, that simply isn't the case.

I'm going to buy this (almost) no matter what. Bought the game digital at launch for $50 (PS+ member) + $25 season pass and got so many hours of entertainment out of it. The only thing I haven't bought is the bikes expansion and the extra tours that wasn't included in the season pass. Will be interesting to see what the discount for season pass-holders will be, but I'm really looking forward to DCVR.

There really are some tight bastards around. Its a fully built VR game with new content, not just a tech demo or a tacked on update and is also responsible priced, yet there are complaints that it isn't free, WTF ?

This isn't a PC port.

Enabling a PC based game for VR is comparatively straight forward due to the scale-able specs, but changing a 30fps console game on fixed hardware to work in VR required an entire new renderer and large amounts of optimisation.

Then we added a new Tour, new Trophies, new stats, new modes, new options, new tracks, etc. It took our whole team over a year - this wasn't just a case of adding VR support, it was about making a new game for VR.
Thank you...

Will support the team...

I fucking hate the word entailment but really there is no other word to use to describe some posters here.

It is unfortunately one of those words that is used recklessly these days. That being said, it absolutely fits in this discussion. I feel your pain on this one.

I'm thinking I'll wait for the demo, only because I'm worried how it will play with controller versus the wheel -- because, everyone pretty much says the wheel is amazing for immersion. And, I just can't afford one right away :/

Dev posts that they had to remake the game completely to get it working in VR.

You reply with 'but it should just be an expansion'.

Don't you get it? It doesn't work without a PSVR headset. It is a completely standalone game, that you can't 'attach' to the original game.

Seriously this place is so full of cheapskates protesting under the guise of being prosumer it's not even funny. Mobile games & Steam have utterly devalued the actual development side of gaming to such a degree it beggars belief sometimes.

So the game description on Amazon.fr reveals what I think is new information ?

- 80 cars
- 114 tracks including new urban tracks
- new features including a "cruise" mode that will allow you to appreciate the beautiful landscapes and a new "virtual passenger" mode that will allow you to revive your best laps from the passenger's seat.

We knew about the 80 cars from the PS Blog, same for the five new urban tracks, but was it common knowledge that Driveclub VR had also the entire tracklist from the original game ? It sure wasn't clear for me and I don't think it was decently explained during the game announcement.

Just more confirmation that the game is worth the $40

Finally played DC VR. There was an event for the press here in Portugal and I had my sweet time with DC VR and other launch titles.

After 2 laps my stomach couldn't take it and had to stop :(
It was awesome and wanted to go back in but it really does a number on your brain. My body kept trying to compensate for the g-forces as if I was actually in a car. I was swaying like an idiot. Still managed to get two laps in before having to quit due to the swirling in my stomach.

I am quite sure I can get my brain to get used to VR and forget to try and compensate movement that isn't there. Just hope it doesn't take that many plays to do it. Maybe I will go with "easier" games first before jumping to stuff like DC and RIGS.

Also, it seems the demo has auto-brakes on. WHY!?

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage

But there is still a segment of people at neogaf that think adults don't deserve compensation for services rendered. I guess the younger age group here. DCVR looks great Rushy. Best of luck on your next project. *hopefully it's something that challenges the Horizon Forza series*

Oh fuck that Passenger mode sounds AMAZING. I would love to put the headset on my wife while I drive around. I doubt that would be possible, but this is the next best thing.

Honestly I don't play racing games AT ALL but I'm seriously considering this game + wheel&pedals to go with my PSVR and Pro to blow people's minds

Passenger mode could be awesome in a rally game. Passenger can call the turns, as the driver can't see the map!

This is news to me. Previously it was described as having a mix of old and new tracks, so I certainly didn't assume they'd all be in there. Even better!

Is the UK not getting the game on disc? Can't find it anywhere. (Amazon, GAME, GameStop, base, simplygames, etc.)

Also, any news on the discounted PSN-price for those who already own the original?
