Part of good pacing is that you want to get to the next thing right away.

Up until now, I had chapters to consume in bulk. How that I'm on the weekly grind, I miss just being able to read the next one :(

Great chapter as always.
Kemi is 👌
Chapter had some funny moments as well.
Ochako is perfect. The way she dealt with her emotions at the time is top notch.

Only small issue i have is that Huk guy literally telling them everything about the exam/test. Felt super weird but i liked dekus reaction when realising.

Yeah, but they just feel meaty. They definitely make you curious about what's going to happen next week, but I definitely feel like most chapters actually have a rising action, a climax, and a bit of a falling action that sets up the next climax. Some manga/comics feel like it's just all rising action to an implied climax in the next chapter.

Go back and read the Weekly Shonen Jump Author Comments. Deku and All Might show up on the first page after the cover thanking Ryo for 40 years. They turn All Might into Ryo lol.

"I'll have you know that I've been watching her for a lon-" Mineta

I didn't post last week but as usual, great chapter. Pacing this arc has been fantastic, unlike Tokyo Ghoul :(

That was too intense for a ten minute break. And, you know, the UA kids may not be prepared for this test, but I still expect Iida and Tsuyu to do well. Bakugou on the other hand...

This seems right up Tsuyu's alley. Didn't she do rescues for her workplace experience?

Can't wait for the doujin manga where Deku teaches slime girl the meaning of "United States of Smash" nawmean ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

jk pls don't ban

Y'all might not be loving the Ochako side plot, but my experiences from my high school years allow me to empathize with her struggle. Plus, you're not about to tell me you wouldn't be trying to play the long-term game to end up with Deku the Absolute Hunk if y'all were in her position. He literally (LITERALLY) has All Might DNA in him now, imagine buff beefcake Deku looking like he walked out of Phantom Blood.

the Ochako/Deku side plot is greato

It all depends on whether anything comes of it. If this is all leading somewhere, great, fantastic, wonderful and splendid. It feels like this has been building up very deliberately for a while and I would expect it to come to a head soon. If it's just teasing and ends in more filibuster then it's ultimately a waste of time.

I said before that I'd be happy if they start dating before the series ends so they can explore how a relationship actually works rather than like most shonen treat it as a sort of finishing line of "Well, they're together now." I didn't actually expect it at the time, but I'd be thrilled if it happened.

Bonus points if Uraraka is the one who asks Midoriya out instead of the other way around, since she's the one who seems to actually be paying attention to her feelings right now.

Yeah it's clear the whole Ochako/Midoriya thing is going somewhere, and pretty soon.
Looking at how Horikoshi has worked until now, we know he's going to take a brave route.
I'm just curious about how it'll end up: will Deku reciprocate Uraraka's feelings? Will he turn her down? Will he say something like "i can't i have to stay focused on becoming a hero"?

If she asks him out there is no way he turns her down. He crushed on her before she ever liked him.

I just want that awkward moment when Ochako stands besides Deku's mom and someone notices he has a thing for levitation based quirks.

Did he?
Whe only ever saw him blushing in front of her, but he does the same basically for every girl, since he's not used on hanging around with them.
We still don't know how he feels for Ochako.

But i guess he wouldn't refuse a date simply by the fact that he's a teenage boy, and because of that of course he wants a girlfriend.

Dude. Come on. Go back and read the early chapters. He was smitten almost from the first meeting.

I can't remark enough at how refreshing it is to have a protagonist who is just a normal teenage kid and reacts to girls in a normal way.

Ichigo and Luffy are basically non-sexuals while Naruto meanwhile obsesses about Sakura for years just because she's vaguely cute and doesn't actually have too many positive experiences with her, yet it's treated as though his feelings are super genuine.

Luffy being asexual actually became a plot point on Amazon Lily. He's modeled after Goku though, so you know where the original sin lies.

Ichigo is just badly written.

Ochako is still the only one Deku gets awkward around. Outside of really awkward situations, he hasn't done that with anybody else.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ochako was the one to initiate things, though

With one piece, it's not really just Luffy, it's everyone. 99% of it's characters seem to have no sexual inclinations whatsoever. Nami's walking around half naked all the time and people barely give it comment. Even when sexual attractions are known, like Sanji, it's weird. He expresses that he finds women attractive, but at no point does he actually seem to pursue those interests, just compliments women how he finds them beautiful.

It's hard to find manga that treats sexuality with any sense of normalcy. Granted, I try to be generous since, being made in japan, there is a culture barrier and whats my normal may not be theirs, especially since the japanese population seems to be facing a real issue of people just not wanting to fuck each other, so things are going to be a bit different.

Point is, My Hero Academia depicts it as somewhat more believable than how it's done in most other manga, and I appreciate that. And even if it's not typical of the way Japanese teenagers act, I like that it exists as a model for people to read who want to imagine a fantastical world where people have no regard for sexual attraction unless it's for an over the top gag of someone being a perv.

one of the things i found funny about ichigo was that dude didn't even seem to comprehend the idea of romance, but maybe that was more related to his general bad writing in general (someone pointed out that he was more reactive than active which was a bad look as a shonen hero and probably why bleach was more defined by characters that stole the spotlight like the other Captains etc.)

like kubo couldn't even decide what Rukia was to him

Anyway, I kinda wish hirokoshi would stop ending each chapter with one panel cliffhangers for a bit, it occured to me he's basically been doing it every chapter for like two months now

Where's my Tsuyu or Ashido focused arc?

All of this great plot and awesome development and wonderful action is wasted on me.
Tsuyu got a whole omake about her life before UA and she's been partnered with Midoriya before.

Ashido is the one who needs a little spotlight time.

For the month of October. Tried to make it a Halloween theme but that proved difficult.

No family and his entire village hated and ostracized him for most of his childhood. It probably wouldn't take too many positive experiences for him to become enamored with someone.

On a similar note, something I noticed when I searched for Tsuyu fan art is that while I like seeing artist's do a character in their own style, something I really hate is when someone draws art of a character that completely removes aspects of that character that drew people to their aesthetic in the first place. Part of Tsuyu's likability stems from her blank stare, somewhat froggy face with eyes that never change and are pretty big and round, she's always hunched over and her body is kinda squat and froggy. When you draw her standing straight up, striking a generic brushing her hair back while looking over her shoulder poses where she is a normal body type and has a more bishoujo or generic face you're really taking away everything about her that is appealing.

Horikoshi drew a sketch of Tsuyu standing up straight and she actually has a fairly standard "anime waifu" body with the slightly larger than normal breasts, the hips, the lot. You just don't see it because she stands like a frog most times.

I can't tell if she has short arms and huge hands or she's still doing her frog pose thing where she trails her hands directly in front of her slightly
