Pre ordered from amazon jp. I've been playing with the 8bitdo zero control pad recently so this thing will be like the original xbox controler in comparison

Why are there two different pages for it on Amazon Japan? One is 6156 Yens and the other 6458 Yens.

Well, when ordering the console itself was at only 5700 Yen so... Ordered. Too bad the AC adapter isn't available at the moment but I'll get it later.

Should be fine with all voltages right? I guess we'll find this out closer to release/by seeing an actual box, but I can't imagine needing a step down converter for this with a UK power supply. I'm just going to use my old iPhone USB plug socket.

Input voltage is 5V (USB), so any phone adapter (external batteries or even plugged to a computer) will work. Just use one from your country.

Don't know if someone has posted already, but does anyone know if the Famicom Mini will have the extra sound chip-esque music that differed from the US NES? (For reference, the JPN Zelda vs the US Zelda theme song)

you know you can use ANY usb AC Adapter, right? You probably know that and really want the Nintendo one..just thought I tell you to be sure :D

Thanks for making that clear again, and you're right, I did. :(
I suppose it wouldn't be Nintendo without some strange, minor inconvenience. Wish it was in the box in the first place, but am relieved it's not dead in the water without the official one.

How'd you guys do that? How'd you add an overseas address? I couldn't find where to enter country. Help?

EDIT: Nevermind I just found out I could choose English language. Pre-ordered. But... right after I did I saw this:

"Thank you, your order has been placed.... blablabla....Estimated delivery: Dec 17, 2016 - Dec 18, 2016".

WTF?

this thing doesn't come with an AC adapter? damn it nintendo

See the replies below, the official AC adapter shouldn't be necessary. :)

Annoyingly enough, the AC adapter is now sold out from Amazon but available by a third party at 4X the price. I hope more show up from Amazon themselves.

EDIT: Jesus, even amiami is sold out on both systems and adapters. This thing is HOT.

I face the same problem right now :D

Thanks all for these posts.

BTW, will the TV USB port work for powering the system?

if it supports enough power, yes. the problem is we don't know exactly yet how much it needs to run. But a 2.1Ampere/5volt USB port should do the trick, maybe even less will work..

as far as I know, right now nintendo does not even sell an USB AC Adapter in germany..so we're forced to buy third party/use one we have from our phone or the one in the TV

Preorder placed, will go fantastic with my GBA famicom mini set. I find the design way more pleasing than the ugly grey breezeblock NES.

Thank you! That's very helpful to know.

I wonder if they attempted to, but couldn't emulate the VRC6 right

Maybe, but then, it doesn't look like the chip is a big issue for other emulators out there. The actual reason is probably something simple as, with so many titles to choose from they figured one Castlevania is enough. Had it been included though, I would've imported the mini-Famicom, no questions asked. Now I'm sticking with the mini-NES.

If it means anything, my AVS works plugged into the USB port on the TV just fine. I would think this should be fine as well assuming your TV doesn't limit the voltage on the USB port.

Glad I ordered it last night then. Had no idea it doesn't come with the charger though.

Is it the same for the NES Mini, I also have that ordered from Target :)

I wish we got FF3 instead of 1... would have been the definitive way to play the game in English, not that lousy 3D remake.

Curious to see how this will do in Japan, and what the market will be. Lapsed gamers, children who mostly play mobile?

I don't get why they never did a 16-bit style remake of it. the 3D remakes are AWFUL

because their's was a video game system and proud of it

ours was an entertainment system that looked like a VCR cause atari killed video games over in the west

They were so proud of it being a video game system that they named it the "Family Computer"? It seems like they were trying to sell it to parents as a computer in Japan. They even released a keyboard for it. The name "Family Computer" does not scream video games over "Entertainment System". I will give you that the NES was made to resemble a VCR though.

No AC Adapter? Check
Badly designed controller cords? Check
Hardwired controllers? Check

Wow, what a fuck up this is compared to the US version.

Can't be that much of a fuckup seeing as it's sold out on Amazon Japan in less than a day, the only ones left are from resellers now asking for 11,000+ for one.

Sure, but most people in the N3DS SNES VC thread seem to prefer it. It's good to have options.

Well, the low res of the 3DS makes NES and SNES games really ugly when scaled. You're going around 256x224 to around 320x224 and the scaling sticks out like a sore thumb.

FYI if you have a soft modded 3DS you can run the NES games, not just the SNES ones, pixel perfect.

Now, the NES mini has a lot more resolution to work with when scaling, so you'd be going from around 256x224 to around 960x720, so the scaling could look way, way better than the 3DS...if coded correctly.

Fuzzy

I would bang a hot farmer!
Anyone else pre-ordered from Amazon got the December delivery date or was it just me?

Delivery schedule:
Sunday 11/13 -
On Monday, 11/14

Shipping method:
AmazonGlobal overseas delivery
It'll be awesome if it gets to Canada that fast and doesn't get held up in customs.

I wonder if you will be able to swap the internals?
No idea, this one looks smaller :(

I know, it's like it was created for an entirely different market.
Which of these changes make sense for the Japanese market? I can understand attached controllers since that was the original design for the Famicom, but it doesn't mean it's not an objectively worse form factor. Bleh. I'll probably have a friend / relative back in Mexico buy the NA version for me.

In case anyone wants to play around on the official site here's the link, clicking on the tv shows you some games.

https://www.nintendo.co.jp/clv/

Love the design of the site, also like the fact they are closely replicating the artwork of the box of the original console.
