i finished the ps4 version over the weekend and the massive deadzone/lag makes all combat scenarios a pain in the ass.

no matter how i configured the sensitivity, the aiming always felt off. a friend watched me playing and he said it looked like i played a game with right stick aiming for the first time.

the framerate issues in the later hub area are also present.

decent game, but the deadzone kills it (for me).

I came into this thread to ask if the frame pacing / lag had been fixed on the PS4.

I can't believe they didn't fix it, as it's apparently not present on the PC version.

I also saw my XBone version updated today, and was hoping that maybe they fixed it there as well.

Totally killed the game for me. I loved everything else about it, but after about 40% completion I just couldn't handle it any more.

A huge shame because the combat in the previous one was incredibly fun.

i dont think its classic input lag, its just a fucking huge deadzone.

Just did the second optional tomb and it was pretty good I thought. Multiple rooms and stuff. Lara still has an annoying habit of telling you what you should do if you don't do anything, but otherwise, it was cool.

The god awful deadzone on the first one killed any enjoyment I could ever have with the game. Not buying this game anymore. Sorry, Square.

Do you know if today's Xbox update fixed the frame pacing?

Just started playing. Never touched the X1 version so don't know how the controls compare, but they feel awful here. The camera seems to have a noticeable delay between your moving the stick and it responding. Really don't like it. I can deal with large dead zones, but the delayed response just makes controlling Lara feel sluggish.

I don't remember this being an issue in the DE version of the original and remember thoroughly enjoying the controls.

Not a great start but I'll persist and hopefully will adapt to how things are.

The controls in the X1 version were terrible too.

Why the hate at the packaging??
If it's that important to you, just get the special edition now, enjoy its contents, then get the regular edition in 1-2 years from a bargain bin for your shelf.

Im working on coverage now but...it sucks. The dead zone and lag issues are just as they were on Xbox One. I don't know if it changed since the MP demo I played or what but it feels bad. Disappointed.

Is this any different than the last TR:DE on PS4? If it feels about the same, I am fine with this.

It's so maddening when they force the special day 1 editions on you without a regular case. Guess I"ll return mine and wait.

To this poster and all others upset with the cardboard box edition...just buy the Asian version, it comes with a plastic case. This is a DMC4:SE like situation again, but at least a disc is available inside the trashy case.

The Asia version is just like the English NTSC version, but it includes the ability to play in more languages than English.

Anyone else getting the "Square Enix server is down" massage? Won't let me even go into the shops to accept my gifts that I earned in main game. It's frustrating.

Also, someone please convince me to use the other outfits. A number of them look cool but I can't shake the feeling that if I use them then Lara might look weird in some of the story cutscenes/moments :(

There was a huge difference between the DE controls on PS4 and Rise on the XB1. Apparently the same problem is in Rise on the PS4. Ugh.

Or just buy the Asia version. It comes with a plastic case and looks like nornal in with other NTSC games.

I hope Lara has an eye opening moment like Nathan did when he realized there's more to hunting treasure and that your identity isn't tied to it. Lara needs that moment.

For me, it's Blood Ties>Lara's Nightmare.

LN is pretty barebones and the combat feels like a huge step down. The zombies do something of a double hit and it's really easy for you to get caught in a corner or space. Knowing that it becomes a frantic game of keep-away that isn't very fun.

Expect lots of terrible inner monologue at campfires. The writing/story is nowhere near the levels of a Naughty Dog game.

Crap, I felt that way about the other game too, maybe this is not for me, especially with gow4, fh3 and all the shooters a few weeks away.

Ok yep, time to return.

TR 2013 is much better than ROTTR. Better paced campaign, actual difficulty. I've replayed TR 2013 twice while I have no desire to touch ROTTR ever again.

That will never happen because they keep rebooting this franchise. The current sequence of TR2013 and RoTTR is the 2nd reboot already.

It's funny to realize that TR2013 is like Uncharted 2 and RotTR is like Uncharted 4.

I think it's time for another franchise reboot.

Anybody having problems playing this game with what feels like accelerated input lag? I think it's worse than the Xbone one. This shit needs to be fixed. It's so hard to aim.

Played about 6 or 7 hours and liking it but not blown away yet (loved the predecessor). Story so far is generic shit and i'm annoyed by the insane amount of optional stuff on the map. Aiming with weapons is also horrible, definitely some input lag there.
But what's really interesting is that i'm seriously considering to stop playing until PS4 Pro arrives. Just played 10 minutes of TR Definitive Edition at 60 fps which felt so much better immediately and then went back to the 30 fps RotTR and it felt like shit. Makes me actually think about a gaming PC, too, seeing that 60 fps could remain a rarity on the Pro, too.

for me, it felt like a mix between a way too big deadzone and aiming accceleration.

Gonna be an amazing game.

But not gonna lie I'm getting salty its reviewing better than Gears 4.

Can't wait to play both though. Judging by things this eclipses the previous one which I enjoyed, and Gears looks on par with previous main titles which were masterpieces.

Is the sleeve supposed to slide off the case? I had to tear the sleeve off from the copy I got from amazon. thinking about having them exchange it for a new one unless they are all like this...

Not a single review mentions the massive deadzone. Lol get fucked.

Yeah, it's ridiculous.

The thing is, it would be such a small fix that would make such a massive difference. As it is the combat is broken, but it could be really good and enjoyable if they just fix the dead zone.

I kinda don't even want to touch the game again until they fix it. It's sucking all of the enjoyment out of the game for me.

Anyone else think this looks ugly compared to the definitive edition? I'm kinda wondering how it'll look on the pro now more than ever.

So far I'm enjoying it.

Haven't gotten super far into it yet though.

People complain about the damndest things, like cases, jesus christ guys.

How do I use poison arrows? The game implied that I needed to use them for
dealing with what I assume is the first bear,
but I just used regular arrows instead because I couldn't figure it out. Pressing up on the d-pad made it look like I selected poison arrows, but nothing actually happened.

Aim and press R1 instead of R2.

I'm really loving this game so far (for the record, I also loved TR2013)! I love the added focus on Tombs and puzzles this time around, and everything just feels so polished and well made. Like TR2013, I think the game has a great balance of linearity and non-linearity (that is, it allows for exploration and feels "open-world", even though it's quite linear). It's also gorgeous. I have noticed the input lag, and both camera movement and aiming feel slightly less smooth than TR2013. Honestly, though, after about 10 minutes, I got used to it, and was back to getting headshots left and right. The lag is there, and it sucks that Nixxes couldn't fix it for whatever reason, but I really don't think it's that big of a deal.

Come on now, the lag isn't that bad. It's there, and it would great if it was patched, but the game certainly isn't "broken".

The deadzone is very noticeable. Not sure how that got through this whole development process, especially after people complained about the input lag on the initial release.

A few hours in, atmosphere and art design is great. Writing is lol. Camilla Luddington is still always out of breath. Busy work is keeping me super busy. Bow and dodge + melee are still very satisfying. Lara Croft still ain't got dual pistols for some reason. I'm enjoying myself.

The digibook + slipcase is fine. As someone who still buys lots of physical movies, I'm a fan of these.
