Finally! Tired of all the rumors on what it is and when it will be revealed.

Having said that, I am not excited for the reveal. I got too dissapointed with Wii U reveal before.
It's up to Nintendo to get me excited for their new console.

My expectation from today's trailer is the name of the console, that is all.

Portability can make up for weaker tech though. You dont expect a phone twice the price of a ps4 to be twice as powerful.

This is something I'm itching to find out. As a hybrid, it could mean that there's no legitimate DS successor, but at the same time, the controller/screen likely wouldn't be small enough to be considered an efficient portable device.

Way I see it, you can take the NX anywhere, but it won't substitute for a legit portable. So part of me thinks there will still be a separate, traditional handheld.

Man I wish I could agree. It's a nice controller but my thumb naturally rests on its X/A buttons rather than Y/B which is what I prefer for jump/attack. I have to reach my right thumb in a bit further than normally to rest it on the Pro controller's Y/B. Other than that it's damned nice.

Hmm, maybe switching the right stick and the buttons could solve that problem, like they are on the Xbox controllers.

They really have to nail the "how this console works" part if they want to send a crystal clear message to potential buyers. So this has to be the long part.

To some, the hybrid form factor would be a reason they'd say "all this extra money for shit I'm not gonna use?" just as they did with the Wii U and Kinect on the Xbox one. Sure people will still buy the system, but it won't be a smash hit if the price is too high.

Yeah, I could absolutely see that. For what it's worth I anticipate it being around the $250 mark, but I don't think it's as make or break as some people are making it out to be

what's a good launch lineup? Mario and Zelda? those are massive franchises and I'm sure will cause pockets of the internet like on GAF to go ape shit, but I'm not sure they move the needle with the mass market like they used to. If they have the next Wii Sports (not literally Wii Sports 2, but the equivalent for this hardware) then that's another story.

Hopefully there are some nice third party surprises as well, but that's a much different conversation. I think they really just need three or four big titles to make a huge splash.

I wonder if this direct is because of the crazy fans that just couldn't; hold out much longer; that's why it is 3 minutes in length. Just a short tease/snippet showing little (probably just the design+controller and how it is used). And save the innitialy blowout info with games etc. sometime in December.

Also on the people saying DOA if nx>250. No, just no. Although it will be just that little bit more out of reach for some, it all will come down to what Nintendo can offer. WiiU's problem was marketing with the casuals, and performance and games at that price for the core audience.

I know this makes no sense, but what if...what if Nintendo is gonna really go the Apple way and they'll announce that NX will be available this November/December? We know it should release before the end of their fiscal year, which is before March 2017, so it hasn't to be exactly March, it could be before, perhaps they have already a few first party titles ready and a bunch of 3rd party games from Ubi etc and they don't want to miss the holiday season, perhaps it's backwards compatible with 3DS so it'll run the new Pokemon Sun and Moon and Mario Maker so no worries about NX taking attention from those games......
