Gotta say I'm way more hyped for the Red Dead reveal, and just playing BF1/PSVR for a bit tomorrow than I am for this.
The WiiU really did crush a lot of my faith in the big N. That said, if they real me back in with this 3 minute vid, that will be a really fucking pleasant surprise.

It almost certainly is. NSMB team just put out SMM last year (and are working on a 3DS port for this year). By comparison, EAD Tokyo's last game was Capitan Todd, and likely that didn't involve the whole team.

Came home, decided to see if the NX speculation thread was near implosion, and saw this thread atop the Neogaf thread mountain. I first questioned whether it was just a joke, and even went about 25 posts before I clicked on the official Twitter link to see that it was in fact real.
I can honestly say I haven't been more intrigued by a console than the upcoming NX. I own every console that has existed for several generations now, and I love the games that Microsoft and PlayStation produce. The systems they make are predictably safe (but consistently good) in the sense that we can expect an emphasis on better graphics, multimedia capablities, and a strong social experience.
With Nintendo, they attempt to go outside the box, and people either love it or hate it. I love it. At the same time, I initially didn't like the hybrid idea, and hoped there would be the traditional handheld and home console versions of NX. One of the reasons I wanted continued separation of the two was that I absolutely love the 3DS, and I didn't want to see the 3D aspect disappear if NX was a singular hybrid console. I just don't see 3D being in the NX, and it's disappointing.
But as speculation has continued, my attitude toward a potential hybrid has changed. I love that the system could be both portable and a home console, where all Nintendo games produced are for it. I'm curious whether the NX form factor will be aesthetically pleasing or if it will be a detachable mess. I'm wondering what potential multiplayer innovations will take place with the detachable controllers. I also want to see how much power Nintendo is packing into this thing; I don't expect PS4 level graphics, but I'd like the NX to be at least twice as powerful as the Wii U (a decent cpu, 4 gigs of ram - nothing drastic).
Lastly, and most importantly, I want to see the games! Nintendo's franchises are among my all time favorites. My first system ever was the original NES, so I grew up with Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. And I can't wait to see what Nintendo has in store for us next.

Yep... Nothing gets me excited more than the reveal of a new mario game.
I never liked the look of Super Mario 3D World, which is probably the biggest reason I skipped the Wii-U.
I grabbed a wii shortly after launch, based largely on Galaxy, which absolutely blew my mind, and I bought the N64 purely to play Mario 64.
I bought a Gamecube because of metroid prime, but usually it's a mario game that sells me on these things. .

I think the people complaining about 2.5D are referring to 3D World and not NSMB, and they also don't understand dimensions apparently. It's been a thing for years on here.

Ready for a console worse than the XB1 but more expensive.
Underrated post.
Would love to see a more Mario64/Sunshine kind of game for the next mario. Huge areas filled with secrets even if I know that the Galaxy ones, specially the second, were FILLED with only great ideas. I just like freedom jumping and running in my Marios too.

several in fact..one i think was about xenoblade 2 on wii u..it was retweeted by the developer but the game was not shown..but i'm pretty sure we got other instances like that one..don't ask me to name eevry sinngle one for every single developer though
