I half expect Super to end with Vegeta claiming the role of GoD and Goku having the rules rewritten to where he becomes the Supreme Kai.

Really enjoyed this last episode. Lots of action, looked great, and Vegeta looking as good as he should. On the home stretch!

U7's Kaiohshin is right there so I doubt they will need to fill that role

me thinks there's a small ritual needed to life link the Kaiohshin to whoever is the GoD and that's what Gowasu and U7 Kaiohshin (this stupid fucker needs his own name) will do to help

while it makes sense that if they are life linked, both roles should be filled at once, the fact is that Kaiohshin was not around when the Old Supreme Kaiohshin was sealed into the Z-Sword, so I assume there is a way to change the life link from Beerus to someone else

Are we even close to Supers end though? There has only really been 1 arc that hasn't been a movie. I think they have a few more arcs to go.

When did Mai, Garlic, and the dog become kids? Wasn't that in GT? Sorry just started watching Super the other day and was wondering about it for a bit. I'm assuming everything else in GT is not canon.

Also I really miss having a more serious Goku at times. Like he was after coming back for the first time after the Frieda Arc, when future Trunks first appears in Z.

making me laugh more than it should

There used to be 5 Kaioshins... I dunno why they never replaced them.

I am going to handwave it as 4 of them being the previous Kaiohs, and only the supreme Kaiohshin being, you know, the kaiohshin

then Buu ate four of them, and only the East Kaioh survived (aka the guy who appeared in the Buu saga Tenkaichi Budokai along with Kibito) and he was ascended to Kaiohshin, just because there was no one else available and qualified. eventually the four Kaiohs we know are put into their current roles

Beerus didn't die because the Supreme Kaiohshin wasn't dead; either because it was the old Kaiohshin inside the Z-Sword, or because the Supreme Kaiohshin being absorbed by Buu didn't count as "dead". eventually his life link is moved somehow to the current Kaiohshin

I don't think the Grand Kai exists as he was anime only, and while Super has absorbed a lot of Anime filler, it doesn't mean all the filler is automatically canon

I think that Toriyama is going to have his hands full of Kaiohshins and GoDs in the coming Zeno tournament and filling four (five if you count the Grand Kai) more meaningless positions in U7 is just not going to happen. so for the future we will have only Kaiohshin and his master, the elder Kaiohshin, and four Kaiohs (of which only one is normally shown), and it will be similar in the other eleven universes

Super doesn't really care about "canon". Neither should anyone else at this point. There's going to be more and more DB stuff down the line so it's better to just accept that now.

You have to draw the line somewhere.

You can't just say "ok everything goes" when Super is clearly trying to create its own sets of rules, and roughly patch it up with the manga's existing history.

Like Heroes means jack shit to the future of Dragon Ball.

Are there any other Japanese voice actors out there who can do Goku/Gohan/Goten's distinct voice? Masako Nozawa is getting up there and is 79 already. I wonder what they will do if she decides to retire.

It'd be fun if Goku and Vegeta actually fail and die with Bulma barely managing to head back to the past but leaving the bunker with the plans of the time machine behind giving Zamasu another method of going to their past and Gohan and the others need to desperately try to beat them somehow.

Of course afterwards just gathering the dragon balls, put them in the time machine, go to the future and then revive them, because of course.

Super should not "end"

Dragon Ball will not end

Goku, Vegeta and the rest of the characters should stay in fighting shape forever, ready to fight the next threat that comes to earth or tackle the next adventure with their friends

they will just replace her

and yeah in the new movies at a couple of instances her voice sounds a little too raspy; she has been fine in Super. I wonder if she just was out of practice and Super's constant schedule has put her in "shape"

Super does care about canon, it's not counting the tree of might as part of the series is it?

I am not making a complaint. I just said what Vegeta did wasn't as impressive compared to Goku and Trunks because they got stronger in the middle of their fights and didn't need to train for months, which makes Vegeta's beat down and speech to Black less impressive. I mean, Vegeta said that Black is losing because he's a fake Saiyan, yet Vegeta needed six months to surpass him.

Goku and Trunks both got wrecked, multiple times. Trunks holding them back is definitely impressive, but that transformation is kind of an asspull and it's surprising he is holding up so well. Goku hasn't done anything that's impressive at all this arc. Vegeta is the only one who has been able to actually give Black a real beating (so far), which is why people are hyped.

After watching the latest episode again, imagine if that bullet actually did kill Black. It would have been one hell of a twist and would have also showed that humans can actually kill powered creatures with advanced technology and without needing powers.

I'm sure there are voice actors in Japan capable of doing the Nozawa voices. Think about how they replaced Mel Blanc when he died... when you have characters that iconic, people learn how to do the voices.

Dragonball Super 47-63

Wow. Other than silly time travel bullshit (There being a total of 3 different Zamasus in the plot), this arc has been fantastic so far. It's easy to pick up on everything despite me only having seen Battle of the Gods and Resurrection 'F'.

I'm also really impressed with all the Dragonball callbacks with Mai & the Pilaf Gang and the Evil Containment Wave being brought back and important to the plot

Given that the two Supreme Kais showed up, what do you lot reckon about something fatal happening to one/both of them as a setup for the next arc?

U7 Supreme Kai dies, Beerus goes poof (as does Whis, effectively) and the grand all-universes tournament has to be won by either Goku or Vegeta to fix the situation for some reason.

Not a bad idea. That way there's a bit of stakes on that tournament.

I like this.

About a million times yes.

Toriyama recently came out and said 17 and 18 can get stronger because they are living beings thanks to their human base.

So if 17 trained off screen or decides to train, he can easily match Piccolo's current level (or go above).

Only 17 has unlimited energy by the way, but I guess Super writers would overlook that fact.

Wait really? Is it explained why 18 doesnt?

I doubts he trains since he has a job, children, and seems to put his rebel without a cause days behind him. The only people we know that trains all the time are Goku, Vegeta, Tien, and Piccolo.

17 has a family??? What? Lol

Don't even remember that. Wierd.

It was when goku was gathering energy for the spirit bomb to kill buu, 17 pointed a gun at some hikers to get them to raise their hands

Weird that Crunchyroll is releasing episodes in reverse. I might take the OP's recommendation and check out the movies. Do they fit in before the start of Super or only before episode 28

The first 28 episodes are the anime adaptations of the movies, along with a few filler episodes. If you don't want to watch 28 episodes, you can just watch the movies and pick up at ep 28

So did Crunchy Roll simulcast episode 63 this weekend? If I sign up now will they be simulcasting the current episodes? Or are they behind?

I'm all caught up on the previous episodes so I'm good on that, just want the simulcast. Also once they broadcast is, does it become archived? Or do you have to catch it live?

Before 28. Watch Ajay's cut of RoF

again for those in the back

They post the new episode an hour after it airs in Japan. So it is current

It maybe an asspull, but Trunks did something and even hurt Black.

Goku has his version of 'My Bulma', which Vegeta's fans think is impressive.

Vegeta beating on Black after training for six months is nice, but isn't that impressive after two really bad showings after talking smack in round 1 and doing crap in round 2, and him saying he's superior because he's the Saiyan prince and not because he grinded.

Just watched episode 62 and 63 at Daisuki. Definitely like having the ability to watch the simulcast stuff. Episode 63 has my hyped for sure. Felt like DBZ.

I like this a lot. It would be nice if a future guidebook (or Toyotaro in his manga) went with this.

On a sidenote, it's funny how the lower deities in the DB world are Asian-inspired while the upper deities are more Western. Whis being an angel makes sense but I would have never expected it since this is so different than the rest of the series' theology.

Super has a canon because you can't fit the events of GT, Heroes, Xenoverse, and the first 13 movies into it.

Super is based on the manga with some anime elements, characters, and plot lines.

His name is Lapis, he has a wife and adopted her two children.

And yes it is explained why 18 doesn't.

Gero made 17 first, when he saw the insubordination he assumed it was because of his infinite energy. So he did not give it to 18. He made her weaker in hope she would be more easy to control.

Speaking of Mai how the hell did she miss?

Black and Z were so relaxed I'd imagine she would have killed him unless Z could heal other beings?

The Grand Kai is referenced in the manga when Piccolo wonders about Kaioshin's identity.

uh I didn't remmeber that

good catch

still think he will be swept under the rug as Toriyama reshapes his pantheon to include more universes, less deities per universe will be a welcome simplification

She was targeting the earring. She didn't miss, but it didn't break.

I don't think it is a bad idea given how Vegeta and Goku crushed theirs effortlessly after ending Vegitto

of course neither Goku or Vegeta will ever think of doing it to Black to end his use of the time ring (maybe time rings only check for Potara when putting them on tho)

slaythe, is he wearing the right shoes in that picture? ;)

the more I think about it, the Merged Zamasu's design kinda smacks of a DB movie villain. I still dig it, though

That is an unbelievably cool idea
I don't think that's how Mafuba works though
Such a shame...

I was hoping it would work sorta like this fan art that's been posted like a million times

9 and 13 could be canon if Little Trunks has Tapion's sword laying in a closet somewhere.

the tapion movie is cool, but the bit where he gives trunks the sword and then it's highly suggested in the credits that it's the same sword future trunks uses makes like no sense at all

i guess he could have given it to a trunks who grew up to be GT trunks but he only uses his sword in the opening credits and never brings it to space with him, iirc

in fact toriyama never drew him with his sword in his gt sketches. he drew him using a gun though. lmao

5272618237_7b0e1cb76a_b.jpg

pretty much the only animated sequences of GT trunks using his sword are in the GT OP and in the FMVs for the GT ps1 game

i hope present trunks gets a sword in super, if we're talking our pie-in-the-sky dreams for the show. if they indeed include the tapion thing then that would be fairly rad

Trunks holding back Black was more due to strategic planning than brute strength. He put everything he had into that galick ho and even then only did minor damage. It was a great move but ultimately futile.
