(SteamSpy) CS:GO surpasses Minecraft as the best selling PC game of all time

Multiple accounts from smurfers and cheaters. Only because that. I love the game but it's obvious that isn't that good selling as Minecraft.

Impressive numbers, but as others mentioned so much of these are banned, re-buys, skin trading and other manipulative practices that have little to do with playing and enjoying the game proper.

Still, valve wins with so much money made from pure game sales.

Isn't this Minecraft counter not counting Minecraft codes sold at retail?

Pretty sure that counter is just direct sales on the site since it has a "x amount sold in past 24 hours", and retail couldn't possibly be added to that lol

1) I'm pretty sure that counter doesn't include retail Minecraft codes bought from the store.

2) A lot of those sales are from banned accounts, cheaters etc. I would guestimate around 10-15 million of those are legit purchases.

You are estimating in the ballpark of 2 accounts per person on average? I think you would be very very wrong.

They've sold copies and made money, not sure what the problem is.
For valve is good. Obviously. But the community is just full of toxic people, cheaters, etc
If they are so stupid to buy multiple copies that's good for Valve but absolutely not for the game. Also like I said there isn't that much players like in Minecraft.

True. It's probably more accounts per person on average.

Definitely. Anecdotally speaking, all of my friends who play CSGO each have at least four smurf accounts. At least.

(That was sarcasm. My friends all have one smurf account though.)

Minecraft is making more money on PC though.
Minecraft is 27$ on PC.

CSGO is 15$ often times 7.50$ (used to even go to like 3.75$ but they decided it was too cheap for hackers/trolls/etc)

You forgot the loot boxes.

CSGO gets extra money from weapon skins and the like.

Don't the retail codes just register on their site?

You really think it'd be that high without the help of the digital codes? Minecrafts bread and butter is mobile and consoles

What difference does it make?

How much has Diablo 3 sold on PC?
I remember hearing that 30 million number in august. If we don't know exact breakdown of sales, that could be the best selling game.

The best selling PC game of all time is probably World of Warcraft. There is no way it hasn't sold more than 25 million copies by now.

I returned to it recently and I'm really surprised at how oldschool it still feels. Amazed that it has such a large player base.
