Canadian Gaming Deals & Discussion 8: Don't Move Here For The Deals

Mamoru Miyano does have a wide range though, which is why I like him so much. He tends to play characters that are slightly (or less slightly) crazy and speak in multiple ways (Okabe in Steins;Gate, Masaomi in Durarara, Berg Katze in Gatchaman Crowds, etc.) With that said Ignis will most likely not be a great showcase of his talent though.

Fine the characters have range, they just sound the same.

Same, put about 2 hours in yesterday and a couple more this morning before work. Loving it so far.

Are you guys going with English or JP voices?

I don't mind the English voices but all the trailers I watched for it, before going into media blackout, had JP voices so I got a little used to them and am tempted to switch over.

I went with Japanese voices. I need my dose of Mamoru Miyano, who voices Ignis in the Japanese audio track.

Fun fact, he also voices Ryuuji in Persona 5

He does get type casted a lot. Well, most prolific Japanese seiyuu do, that's why they keep getting brought on for certain projects. Like how Sugita just uses the same voice for most of the characters he plays, but people just really like the voice he uses and it fits the characters he plays. Okabe to Miyano's voice acting is like how Gintoki is Sugita. They basically are those characters and people usually just want more of that.

BestBuy finally cancelled the Agent preorder I placed in ~2011 to take advantage of their Buy 2 get 1 free promo.

I think I've received over 50 order status updates about that thing over the years.

Likely no FFXV delivery for me until tomorrow... so stop 'n' swap seems to be on the table for myself.

FFXV CE Guide, "Delivered" at 11:17 AM EST... Nothing when I got home, left on my veranda as I was typing this post.

Amazon has Steins;Gate 0 in stock in case you don't want to deal with videogamesplus:
PS4:https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01JHQURAU/

Vita: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01JHQUTF8/

It's from 3rd party sellers though so no prime discount. Shipping is fulfilled by Amazon.

tip: buy from Shopville Canada they charge less tax (and tax free in some provinces)

Argh too late. Got it yesterday digital. To be fair though that was tax-free and I used my 10% code on it. (Along with a few vr games).

Just had a chat with Amazon customer support. I asked them to never use Intelcom to ship packages to me again. Not sure it'll actually work but at least I tried.

fwiw I complained once when Intelcom signed for a parcel, with my name, and just left it by the door. They gave me $5 and told me it would never happen again. I haven't had a single delivery by them since then.

I wonder if this would work if I told them not to use Canada Post since I almost always have trouble in my area.

Anyone have guesses on when Federation Force will be on sale/clearance? Pretty sure it hasn't been selling too hot since its release

I'm not a big fan of them, but they just leave the parcel on my door and don't even ask for a signature so I can't really complain.

Honestly if they did that every time I'd be okay, as my apartment is pretty decently secure.

The problem is that they also like to 1-ring and abandon the delivery, or deliver to the front door of the apartment building, which is about as secure as EA FIFA coins.

YMMV but my Shoppers Drug Mart had all Wii U / 3DS games on for clearance sale prices. $14.77 for 3DS games, $25 ~ $30 for Wii U Games. Didn't have much left, but I would imagine they had ALL their Nintendo games on sale at some point...

It's clearly a legit copy but I would avoid VGP if you value your credit card.

Most game stores have brand-new copies around 25$.

Oh please, the continuing hysteria around VGP years after the fact is ridiculous. Do people honestly think you are more likely to get your credit card information stolen there than on any other small store on the internet? They also take Paypal for those worried.

My credit card got compromised three times within the past year and it's the most "suspicious" place I can think of.

Edit: All three time happened a few weeks after I made a purchase with them. Just saying.

Sorry but something is up with VGP.
I never had my card compromised in 5 years and a month after I used VGP, my card was compromised.

Only time my card was comprimised was after I placed a few orders at VGP.

Sure that doesn't confirm it but when my card is only used at best buy, amazon and walmart it makes me think it was that.

Any of you guys know where I can get SATA-3 cables on the cheap? Bought that 525GB SSD from Amazon, but it doesn't come with a cable.

Same exact thing happened to me. I don't think this is all a coincidence...

Aaaaaaand another 5pm has come and gone without my FFXV being delivered.

And of course the customer support person told me they contacted the carrier and confirmed that it would definitely arrive today for sure. But Intelcom don't give a shit.

I'm pretty sure I always used PayPal whenever I bought from VGP. Why would you do otherwise? Unless you don't have a PayPal account for some reason.

Wow I never knew VGP cards getting hacked was a thing. Now that I think of it, my recently compromised card was literally last used on root letter at vgp, and never had a card compromised before that.

Damnit, I had my new card there for steins;gate 0 before I cancelled

To be fair, it's quite unlikely VGP actually knows. It's likely a script or some other hack into their site causing this issue. Still, I would say stay away from Credit Cards on VGP at this moment...

Which is even worse. Why would I support a company who can't properly secure their site? I don't care how small business they are.

I work at a small business, just the owner and I and we write credit card numbers down by hand and punch them into the machine. Old school. I could run away with all of these CC #s and spend thousands but obvi I'm a decent human being and I shred them in a professional shredder.

That's no excuse, sorry.

Does Prime STACK with the E3 20% deal?

Amazon support told me theyd honour the Prime 20% discount for a game I preordered before getting Prime, after I get the game. But I want to make sure it will happen

Doesn't VGP take Paypal? I'm pretty sure that's what I used last time.

Hell, I use Paypal for most places as it provides a more central location to use my credit card and I don't have to trust that each site has their security in order. Plus, you get a bit of extra leverage in the event something happens with an order.

Doesn't change the fact that they accept credit cards while being hacked and not doing anything about it.

Seriously can Intelcom just die already.

I bet they're a money laundering front. That would explain why they still exist despite only doing their job half the time.

I was under the impression that they had solved whatever breach occurred last time, but if they are still having problems that's pretty bad.

I mean, I wouldn't trust them with my credit card directly even if they claimed to be 100% sure nothing was going on.

I haven't shopped with VGP in years but it's good to know PayPal is an option now. I haven't' gone back to that site since the breach and their incompetent handling of it.

Is VGP the only option for Chrono Trigger DS? I'm worried a bit about getting a fake cartridge.

It's available on Amazon.ca as a "Fulfilled by Amazon" product. It's like $3 more but worth it if you want to avoid VGP.

Thanks. So it's sold by another company but shipped by amazon--does that mean I might get a counterfeit copy still?

Also thanks for the heads-up everyone about VGP. That's pretty worrying.

What's up with all the same generic replies on Kijiji?

"Hi, I'm interested. Please contact me if this is still available."

I had like 5 people message me the exact same thing today. Same punctuation and everything. Is there like a quick reply or something I don't know about? I didn't reply to any of them just to be on the safe side.

You are right in that this is no excuse. I wonder if anyone has ever gave their customer service a head's up? My guess, and if my guess is correct they have absolutely no excuse, is that they store credit card numbers in their database for pre-orders so that they can charge them when an item ships. This is a really big no-no for programming unless you really have your shit locked down (and even then..). Probably someone figured out how to SQL inject hack them. Either way, I will only be paying them through PayPal from now on... One can only hope they at least use some sort of encryption on personal information (password, billing / shipping addy, etc) though that seems unlikely at this point...

Yeah, no idea what these are about. My best guess was other sellers checking supply so they can raise their prices :tinfoilhat:
