This movie is going to bomb, isn't it?

Well they dont really care looks like it.

We [Ubisoft] are not going to earn a lot of money from it. It is a lot more a marketing thing, it is also good for the image of the brand. Although we will make some money, it is not the purpose of this movie. The purpose is to bring Assassin's Creed to more people. We have our core fans, but what we would like is to put this franchise in front of a lot more people who, maybe, will then pick up future Assassin's Creed games.

It's probably going to bomb. Legendary/Universal understood that they needed to move Warcraft out of the way of Episode VII in order to avoid bombing.

I'll definitely be seeing this at some point which is more than I could say when I first heard it was happening. Looks like it could be fun.

That looked decent, with some good action and acrobatics going on, Im playing Syndicate now and I felt a little hyped for this god damn.

This movie looks really cheap, like FX and the locations. I don't buy into any of it.

And do these moronic trailer intros also show up in movie theaters? Haven't gone to one in a while.

It's almost frustarting seeing these video game movies.
I really wish at least one of them would be met with critical acclaim and become a box office success so that we could get more great video game movies.
But right now they have ranged from absolutely awful to okayish.
Doesn't help that there seems to be some sort of stigma towards them. Like when I read reviews of the Warcraft movie and some were comparing it to fucking Battlefield Earth... When I finally saw the movie it wasn't nearly as bad but still fairly disappointing.

Maybe they can learn a thing or two from Marvel. I mean comic book movies used to be generally pretty bad or mediocre before. But they have for the most part improved a lot.
I mean we have a successfull Doctor Strange movie... which is pretty insane if you think about it,

I really want this to do well, but it doesn't have much of a chance against Rogue One. Even if this gets excellent reviews, and Rogue One gets mixed reviews, a weak Star Wars movie is still going to curb stomp its competition.

This is the type of trailer they should have released at the beginning, instead of the crap with a bunch of music that doesn't fit the setting or tone whatsoever. Really looking forward to the movie, especially as a fan of the franchise. It looks like it's going to be one of the first quality video game adaptations.

I'm not so much worried about it releasing in the wake of Rogue One as releasing alongside Passengers, starring the two most bland and overrated actors at the moment. One can only hope it finds a decent market overseas.

I think the only time we'll get a "good" video game movie is if someone makes one that is absolutely unrecognizable as one. Like how A History of Violence is supposed to be a graphical novel adaptation, but you wouldn't know if someone hadn't told you. The problem is most video games are idiotic. The plots are stupid. And the writing is in the absolute pits. These adaptations are already starting from a negative standpoint. And even the random game that comes along that isn't those things, it usually isn't in a way that's simply relative to other video games.

In short, stop with the game adaptations.

So... yeah, pseudo-remake of the first Assassin's Creed game, mixed with the 'learn the skills of your ancestor' plot of the second.

Man I hope this is good. I don't really care for Assassin's Creed but man I want a good video game movie adaptation already.

I loved how they threw in that these are Academy Award-nominated/winning actors in the principal cast...like this movie is going to be some kind of serious drama or something haha. All jokes aside, it looks like it could be fun, wish there was more focus on the historical setting though.

One could argue that they have chosen their game adaptations poorly. The plots in games like Dead or Alive, Street Fighter, Resident Evil or Doom are just too poor and goofy to translate well into a good movie.
Even when they choose franchises which could have potential like Max Payne, Prince of Persia or even Silent Hill they seem to always manage to fuck it up in some way.
I don't think they will ever stop with the game adaptation... which is why I wish they would at least try.

I don't think the critics are going to respond well to this one. Looks like they're making the Apple of Eden a pretty big focus. That's a cringey super mcguffin if you reveal it too early (which seems to be the case here) and it probably won't come off well.
