This movie is going to bomb, isn't it?
We [Ubisoft] are not going to earn a lot of money from it. It is a lot more a marketing thing, it is also good for the image of the brand. Although we will make some money, it is not the purpose of this movie. The purpose is to bring Assassin's Creed to more people. We have our core fans, but what we would like is to put this franchise in front of a lot more people who, maybe, will then pick up future Assassin's Creed games.

That's what companies say when their movie is gonna bomb.Well they dont really care looks like it.
It's almost frustarting seeing these video game movies.
I really wish at least one of them would be met with critical acclaim and become a box office success so that we could get more great video game movies.
But right now they have ranged from absolutely awful to okayish.
Doesn't help that there seems to be some sort of stigma towards them. Like when I read reviews of the Warcraft movie and some were comparing it to fucking Battlefield Earth... When I finally saw the movie it wasn't nearly as bad but still fairly disappointing.
Maybe they can learn a thing or two from Marvel. I mean comic book movies used to be generally pretty bad or mediocre before. But they have for the most part improved a lot.
I mean we have a successfull Doctor Strange movie... which is pretty insane if you think about it,
Believe this is more the international trailer.
Ah OK, makes sense. The trailer was posted by Fox's UK arm. Different release dates.
Could it work as counter programming? Thats what I remember being done with the Alvin movie when TFA released and that didn't do too badly. It's been released in the wake of Rogue One. It's going to tank.

I think the only time we'll get a "good" video game movie is if someone makes one that is absolutely unrecognizable as one. Like how A History of Violence is supposed to be a graphical novel adaptation, but you wouldn't know if someone hadn't told you. The problem is most video games are idiotic. The plots are stupid. And the writing is in the absolute pits. These adaptations are already starting from a negative standpoint. And even the random game that comes along that isn't those things, it usually isn't in a way that's simply relative to other video games.
In short, stop with the game adaptations.
=(lol how is this nerdfest counterprogramming to the other nerdfest?
Man I hope this is good. I don't really care for Assassin's Creed but man I want a good video game movie adaptation already.
