That fucked eh?
I post this from time to time, but it always bears repeating: a game cannot BSOD a system which is running correctly. If you haven't encountered this in any other game / use scenario, it's the game. Multiple reports in this thread about BSODs.
Interesting, this solved it for me as well. Kinda weird the game would display 3840x2160 as output resolution but instead pick 4K DCI?Maybe you should try this fix :

For my part, I had vertical black bars AND and a small aspect ratio issue during gameplay too. This link resolved both issues for me.
(I have LG 4K TV)

If you get a BSOD one of the following has to be the culprit:
- The hardware
- The OS
- A kernel-level driver (like the graphics driver)
Of course, a specific (potentially invalid) instruction sequence in a game can uncover a bug in any of those other components, but it wouldn't be able to cause a BSOD if they were working correctly.
How would this run on an i5-6600k/1070 with 16 RAM at 1440p?
Should I just buy this on PS4?

I obtained this game from the SSD deal they're doing, but I can't for the life of me get it to run, it crashes to a black screen every time I try to load a new game, regardless of any of the settings I have it on. Its actually the same case for Assassin's Creed Syndicate.
i5 3570k
GTX 1070
8GB DDR3
Once in a while I'll get an error message from Watch Dogs about a memory issue, nothing from Syndicate. These are the only two games I have run across that will never run for me like this, even Ubi's other games this year, Primal and Division run just fine. Any idea what could be causing this, or anything I could try to solve this problem?
Yup. Only regular BSOD I've ever had was due to an unstable CPU overclock, and it was usually triggered by a CPU-heavy game. Less demanding games never triggered it.
Upped my voltage by 0.5, and the issue disappeared.
If a game is "causing" a BSOD, it's probably your system. And if you haven't seen the BSOD happen up until a certain game, it likely means you weren't pushing the system hard enough to expose the existing instability.
You guys think that full on adaptive graphical options would be viable? You know, the way we have adaptive resolution and whatnot, but to put an option in the graphics menu of a game that would let the game lower any graphical options on the fly to keep a target framerate?
Games such as Forza Horizon 3 already do just that.
Yes, it works, and yes, you can disable it.

I did say "Only regular BSOD I've ever had." As Durante stated, it can sometimes be due to a driver issue. But in my experience, it's usually due to user error/system config issue, and the given game is merely triggering it. Mileage may vary...
Edit: just saw your edit. Should you be worried? Not really. I believe the BSOD itself is to prevent permanent physical damage to the system components. As far as I know, the worst multiple BSODs are going to do is simply fill up your Minidump folder.
Did you purchase a Samsung SSD, and if so, do you have Samsung Magician open in the background? If I have it open, certain games (including AC) exhibit that behavior on launch.
I did indeed, and that program was open in the background. Unfortunately, after closing it, both games still crashed in exactly the same manner. I even uninstalled the Magician, just to be thorough, and got the same results. Watch Dogs 2 is displaying the window that "the system ran out of memory, and must close the following program" after crashing.
Believe it or not, 8GB of system RAM often isn't enough for recent games without the assistance of a generous pagefile. How big is your pagefile? You may need to bump it up.
Question:
I am trying to play this with a controller (xbox one connected via wireless receiver) but randomly the controller just disconnects and it is driving me insane as it always seems to be at the worst time.
I have tried new batteries and different controllers but this doesn't happen on other games.
Whats going on? Is this common?
Have you tried turning the anti-cheat system off? It doesn't play nice with wireless controllers. You do lose the multiplayer though.
I have not tried that no, how much of an experience am I losing by doing so?
EDIT: Wasn't that as it still does it... Having to play with KB&M which is fine, except for driving.
And it's the only game where this happens?

My controller is also constantly disconnecting, but it's wired... I had the same problem with some other games before, but my usb cable was too long, works now fine with a shorter one.. except for WD2.
It almost always disconnects a couple of seconds after I get detected and get into a gunfight. Have to reconnect the cable, but this game doesn't pause on controller disconnect, which means I'm dead if it happens.
Don't know it's a coincidence, but I got tired and switched to kb/m, got into the fight ... and the game crashed.
Haven't tried disabling anti-cheat yet.
Now my older RTSS doesn't work, which worked before this patch lol
Can anyone confirm if the new patch fixes the Xbox One S bluetooth wireless controller issue? I can't get to my PC to test until Sunday. Thanks.
It works, just tested it.
So idk what is wrong with this game but my 4 Cores (I5 3570K ~4.2 GHZ) are all the time at 100% when im ingame. I cant explain whats wrong here but this game is dropping into the 30FPS Zone way to often. Cant handle a stable 60FPS a single time because of this CPU Usage. Doesnt matter what im doing its ALL THE TIME 100%. Thats what im calling a broken mess. Not with me Ubisoft, im done.
The game can put even Intel's enthusiast-level CPUs through their paces and eats AMD CPUs for breakfast:
With the possible exception of a well-overclocked 6700K, eight threads just isn't enough for a consistent 60fps, let alone four.
Like, EasyAntiCheat.sys?
