Street Fighter V |OTVI| The More I Know, The Worse I Play

Unsurprisingly, Mika's overhaul is my favourite.

She was a blast to play in Alpha 3 but her moveset was a total mess; half of her specials were either redundant or ultra-situational and two of her supers were incredibly difficult to land if the opponent was paying attention.

By comparison, her SFV iteration is super tight. Every move has its purpose yet her playstyle isn't as rigid as some others, which means you can do some really wild and creative things to throw your foe off their game.

It's starting to dawn on me that getting a wired connection in my room, in this home, is probably never going to be a viable option.

I've been staying off SFV for months because of this since I don't wanna be that guy playing on wi-fi, but it's starting to become a bit much.

just go for it. i had to play on wifi when I was away at college earlier this year. no shame.

Man I'm just gonna start playing villains from now on.

But I should edit that. I only really want to play Urien, Akuma, Vega, and maybe either Balrog or a pocket Necaili.

Have you tried a powerline adapter? I used one for a while and it was at the very least better than Wi-Fi.

Charlie Nash .... He went from being a Guile's Ken to a completely different beast.

Every single move and normal he has seems to have a specific purpose. Also has a super unique style of Zoning and Movement.

Ohhh Nash is a good one. I feel like they made him way more aggressive now, too, but I only played him in Alpha 2 and 3 very casually. His moveset is more rushing down I feel like.

Is it just me or does the amount of hitstun on guile's sonic boom make no sense? Shit is like +60 from a couple characters away.

He's only got the 2 moves, makes sense that they'd be incredibly strong.

And if you're getting hit by a meaty/raw sonic boom then that's on you. The hitstun is fine, the only real problem with it was the boom loop with V-Trigger when you're in the corner, and that's not gonna be possible anymore.

Thats the beauty, hes still very much a Zoning character. But then just rushes in if you get too comfortable just just holding block all day. Then slip out.

While the poses behind Chun-Li are drawn, I wonder if Alex's face is an improvement or it's just drawn in, Laura's seems better too.

And while I'm a bit disappointed there's no new UI, I wouldn't say it's terrible either, at least we don't have to go over a thousand sub-menus to get what we want, it's not pretty, but it's handy.

Favorite moveset overhaul so far?

Vega is mine, hands down. Alex second.

Ibuki for worst.
For all the shit I talk about Alex his sledgehammer, normal grab animaitons, stun gun headbutt as a special and armored EX slash elbow are all great additions to his toolset. Unfortunately he lost auto tracking, his more versatile 3S D j.HP flying cross chop, his stomp air hitbox (including the ground shockwave whiff), his overhead game is far weaker (st.HP and mp+mk both crap on his f.MP overhead) and his spiral DDT that could have proved useful if sped up or given special EX properties.

Also I've seen the stats pentagon, the part when both characters/players load up into the game are parallel now. Small but nice little change. New UI is very much needed though for the main interface.

the current UI is so damn boring. And no actual CPT/community news, streams, replays..damn when you really think about it they really fucked this game up hard

What they need to do is have a section for online tournaments in game kinda like what EA did with FIFA 17.

What happened to casual match in those pics? I don't see it anywhere. edit: nevermind the picture is cut.

I am not surprised with no change of ui, at the small chance that it would come it would probably be with the arcade mode and would be advertised a lot a few weeks before.

There's lots of things that the probably quite small ongoing SFV developers (at DIMPS?) would have on a wall somewhere as nice-to-haves.

I'd bet a lot of QOL things are on that product backlog.

Hopefully, as they're now delivering six characters over a year rather than six smushed into 9 months along with the story mode, they'll have time to work on other features.

I mean, they're obviously not going to be satisfied with the things like jittery server performance, the missing/broken CFN features, the wonky lobby searching, the iffy matchmaking, all the bugs in the story mode, the lack of requested features, the lack of direct in-game promotion of events...

BUT what is more important is a rugged 1v1 fighting game.

I'm happier getting a tasty steak than a pretty one.

Really depressing how the FGC segments itself sometimes. KBrad said he liked SF4 and people were either shitposting about SFV being garbage or shitposting at KBrad calling him a 09er for liking SF4.

The same thing happens in other places. Mention SFV, Tekken, VF, Smash, whatever, and people start picking sides. Like, the scene can't grow if people aren't willing to explore and welcome others from different games, other fighters included. And hell if people shouldn't be pushing others to play as much as they can. It isn't like the olden days were we had a million fighters to choose from and the companies that made them had infinite funds to just try shit. Things are a lot more lean than before, yet the picking sides shit is still the same.

I've dogpiled on SF4 before too so I'm no saint, but I'd be wrong in stating that it's alright for someone to prefer that game over SFV, or SFV over VF, and so on.

I only got into fighting games seriously with SF5 but it's inspired me to take other franchises more seriously too. Because of how much I liked SF5, I got KoFXIV and Guilty Gear: Revelator and dedicated real time into it. Gonna do the same with Injustice 2, MvC:I and Tekken 7.

I agree that it sucks people just seem to want to like one thing and hate another. Why can't we all just play a variety of games and just get along :(

FGC is an umbrella term from outsiders looking in to label anyone who plays fighting games. It's a bunch of scenes coexisting competing for stream time.

do we know about new skins coming soon?

I wouldnt mind something cool for guile. I think there is a xmas Laura coming and I play her sometimes but as a Guile main I would like something other than the three i currently have.

Alex as the poster boy for survival means the S1 characters have been added as opponents, perhaps?

late edit: Uh, why is Versus highlighted while the image panel says survival?
