Oft hope is born when all is forlorn.
I bought the device protection. Too expensive to be without it. Probably the first phone I'll put a case or some sort of protection on.

No idea when the XL is expected to be back in stock. Bought mine on the 27th when signing up for Fi. Still haven't used it yet since we're not starting Fi until the 17th...

Well you make no sense son, the device is too expensive without the extended warranty? and you will put a case on because you bought the extended warranty?

How would anyone know

May be Google sent out a communication? Some Android site got information?

I don't know? lol I don't follow Android world religiously. So Just asking, has anyone heard if this will go on sale anytime soon.

Can I buy the device protection after owning it for about a week? Wasn't able to find anything on the Google site

Is the 7.1.1 update different than just 7.1? I'm on Project Fi and haven't gotten any update for the former.

I've added multiple prints from both left and right index fingers now, and it's working much more effectively. Never occurred to me before this that I could have more than one set of registered prints, heh.

Yes, it released a few days ago.

No.

Too expensive to be without it.. Putting a case on it because it's an expensive phone. Think you may have misread what I wrote. Son.

Google fucked up the production on this phone. Seriously, Pixel 2 will be out before they get this sorted.

There seemed to be quite a bit of backlash regarding the price when it was announced so the demand may be surprising. The deals from Verizon and T-Mobile for Black Friday certainly increased demand. Was lucky enough to get my XL when signing up for Fi and signed up early just to get it while it was in stock even though we weren't going to be activating Fi for another 3 weeks.

If you don't know, how would we know? How would anyone know? Have you googled before complaining how no one answered your unanswerable question?

Actually, it will go on sale in November. You should wait.

I'm starting to consider the 5" since the XL is still out of stock everywhere. At least the screen isn't any smaller than my M8... it's a hell of a commitment though.

what the fuck? did someone kill your dog or what?

Ask me anything about MS/Apple related news, if there were any rumours or news. I would know because I religiously follow the those community and listen to podcasts.

If you don't have an answer fucking move on, don't tell me to google it. This is NEOGAF. If Google was the answer to everythinig, 90% of the thread wouldn't exist. I was asking the Android community, may be there was a tweet from Google, or some media site covered it when the next batch of phone will go on sale.

And when I said please help me guys, I was talking about the extended coverage.

How you guys liking this phone? This is on my to buy list since my Nexus 5X crapped out on me.

Best phone I've owned for sure, really like it, have had no problems, incredible battery life, really solid camera, love the 240fps slomo, Daydream View is a gimmick but it is really cool none the less, beautiful screen, nice form factor, good weight, great performance.

My smart phone history is...

OG Droid
Samsung Droid Charge (ouch)
iPhone 5
Nexus 6
Pixel XL

also best phone I've owned, went OG droid, samsung galaxy nexus, og moto x, then regular pixel.

Last night was the first time I ever noticed a problem with it, if you turn the brightness all the way down and use night mode, the standard charger will cause a slight screen flicker. So minor but it's something.

Would recommend the phone to anyone

So found a seller on Kijiji.

$950 CAD Pixel XL 32 GB. Brand new sealed.
I think am going to go for it.

I hope I can at least claim the manufactured warranty if something goes wrong.

The hype better be worth it guys lol

The Pixel is the best phone I've ever owned and I've had iPhones, Samsungs, Nexuses, and even Windows Phones. If you're on the fence, I can tell you: It won't do you wrong. Especially if you're inclined to used Google's ecosystem generally (Maps, Drive for your office docs/file sharing, YouTube, GMail, Play Music -- all great services).

The fucking image stabilization on the video, holy shit! It's like I'm using a tripod. And it automatically backs them up at full quality even though I'm shooting at 1080p/60, then deletes it off my phone to save space.

"OK Google" on every screen is just killer. I can be relaxing on the couch, realize I'm sleepy, croak out "OK google, wake me up in 20 minutes" and conk out without even touching my phone, no matter what I'm doing.

The battery life is incredible. I also have Project Fi, and being able to text and make calls even when my phone is off, directly in GMail using the chat windows, is amazing.

It all works together scarily well. Try getting into Google Keep for note taking -- specifically the checkbox lists. Your life will never be the same.

I think you can do this on any Android phone if you really want by having your carrier make your phone number the google voice number, but yeah this is cool.

I could be wrong, but I don't think so; as far as I know, Google Voice is a standalone, data-only service that no carrier can offer you. Sign up at Google Voice and get these abilities, sure - but that won't also work as an over-the-air phone service. Only Project Fi service works as both a virtual service in Hangouts and as a cell-tower/non-data service, as far as I know.

Google voice works as a cell tower/non-data device as well. Sprint gives you the option of integrating it directly and your google voice number is your Sprint account number. With other carriers, you can go into your Google Voice settings and configure whatever number given to you by your carrier and have your google voice number forward calls to you. With the Google Voice app you can have the option for outgoing calls to come from your Google voice number. To other users they dial your number like they always have, and receive calls from your number like they normally would. You can have multiple phones ring when someone dials your Google Voice number with this method.

Google Voice also allows VoIP calls as well if you download the Hangouts dialer. Now your data only device or data only plan can make and receive calls.

Has anyone had issues with callers unable to hear you when talking on the pixel? Somewhat frequently, I will talking and the caller says they can't hear me. I mute and unmute the mic, and still they can't hear me. I can hear them crystal clear though.

This has happened probably a dozen or more times, at various locations and with various callers.

I just bought it.

The guy gave me a receipt. It was sealed. I know its expensive but it was too hard to find cheaper. You got it on contract so your monthly bill must be a lot.

My monthly is $32 with 4GB and didn't wanted to lose my current plan.

Order a Google Live Case! It adds a smart button you can map to do whatever, it's super light and slim, and you can use custom photos (I won girlfriend points doing this), and it recently passed the concrete staircase test for me. :)

Huh. I wonder, if I'm a Fi subscriber and my girlfriend sticks with the Fi voice plan, if I could save us $15/month and port my number to Google Voice.

Love the options, can't imagine not having Fi/Pixel/Live case, still being stuck on AT&T. Yeesh. Apple users are missing out.

Same here.

It's widely spread issue with the mic and people have been going crazy over it. Google can't seem to identify whether it's a software or hardware problem.

I have really started to hate this device.

Stuff like this worries me

I'm due for an upgrade this month and I absolutely cannot stand basic functionality not working properly. I've never hated a phone as much as I hate my HTC M7

My phone started with this and continuously got worse. Started freezing, screen flickering on and off, and finally rebooting itself every couple of minutes. Easily got a replacement though.

I got my phone today and have been using it all day. Its fast and snappy. Already dropped it once :( thank god the dent is very minor. I ordered a case from Amazon. Hopefully it comes soon.

You guys try turning off advanced LTE calling? I had an issue like that and turned off advanced LTE calling. Haven't seen it since.

I don't make many voice calls to all though. :(

Out of nowhere, my phone will no longer charge with the cables that came with the phone. I thought it was just the cable/AC unit, but it also won't charge with the USB-C->USB cable. Works with other USB-C cables that I have. So weird.

My Pixel was doing stuff like that, it also kept cutting me off and often wouldn't connect calls. Turned out it was my network. I only realised when I got cut off during a call and an obviously network generated voice came on saying 'the number you have called is out of service', I knew it wasn't - phoned EE (my carrier) and they did what they called a 'network refresh' from their end.

I got a few messages about new settings then one telling me to restart my phone. Restarted and everything was fixed.
WiFi calling came to life, VoLTE came on (I had thought I wasn't in a VoLTE coverage area, turns out it's everywhere).
Massive difference, everything works and no problems since.

Google Fi is giving out Christmas gifts over the next few weeks via the app. Got $10 Google Play credit yesterday.

I keep trying to access these, but the sign in button in the app doesn't work; same issue if I try to use the site in Chrome. I want my free stuff too 😥

had this issue a few times but it eventually corrected itself on mobile, try a few more times :/

I've been having issues with the USB-C to USB-C cable using the included power brick, only works maybe 30% of the time.. At the moment I'm using the USB-C to USB-A cable that came with my Pixel plugged into an iPhone power brick and it's fine lol.

I updated to 7.1.1 today, and ever since, my screen will randomly turn on sometimes when I have the phone in my hands. It doesn't do it if it's not in my hands. Any idea what's going on with that?

Are you sure that's not the new Lift to Check feature kicking in?

Feature!!

The lift to on feature might just be wonky if it's happening even when you're not technically lifting it toward you.

I was wondering about that feature. I guess I don't mind it too much.

Thanks! I definitely don't like my screen turning on just because I moved it.
It's a pretty awesome feature. I recommend trying it out for a bit.

Finally got the one I ordered in October today and it seems great so far except the reception is abysmal. I'm making phone calls from my house, which I've never had a problem with, and every single person I talk to complains that my audio is dropping out.

I've seen a fair amount of similar complaints online, but I'm curious if anyone here has had the same issue and if any particular remedy seemed to help.

Maybe it's using wifi calling or volte. Check your settings.

I'm on project Fi and sometimes it will take the call over my wifi router and if I'm not in good range the quality is shit.
