I definitely think they added in some new post-processing since the initial PS4 demo. I notice a lot more artifacting, and in entirely new ways to boot.
I played with my kids upon initial release on PS4 but was already leaning into a more PC-centered direction at the time so didn't give it much mind. Now that this is out I'm actually giving it a try and I really loved it. I just played through to completion with my girlfriend and we got the bad ending, so now I've got to read up and see how to get the alternative endings. I really can't fathom how one might go about that, the demo seemed fairly linear. It was an interesting experience.
Usually, I dislike horror games with no weapons, but not this time. Probably because I know that the full experience has combat as an option. I really would have liked to try it out in the demo, though.
So on the tech front, it definitely is a Vsync issue. 4k with everything maxed out except for HBAO+ it runs at 50+ frames for me, but only IF I disable Vsync! Vsync on means 30-40 FPS no matter what. It literally halves my performance. If I don't disable it though, the tearing is horrible. I'm not typically sensitive to tearing at all. I'm no fancy boy. Not in the least. This is some serious-ass, ugly tearing though. It's fucking ludicrous and over the top. I don't know that I've ever seen it so bad, so I have to conclude that it is a tech issue that will be fixed going forward.
So as of now I'm playing with everything maxed at 1440p and it's a rock-solid 60 fps. Tremendous experience and I've already preordered. Very much looking forward to it.
Demo didn't unlock until after I went to bed, might not have time to try it for a while. I'm not expecting actual SLI support but does it break the game and require me to disable it to launch?

Great to hear. I've kind of stayed away from info since I was waiting to play it again on PC so I wasn't aware of all the cool, new stuff in the demo.
I will have to spoil myself now, though, and figure out how to get the alternatives. I honestly can't imagine what I missed, but I REAAALLY wanna get those weapons.
Gotta say I think the ps4 looks better. It looks smoother and softer. The pc version just looks fuzzier. I did turn off Chromatic aberration though but I don't think that should matter?
Borrowed some pics over on the console screenshot side (credit to chandoog) to do a comparison. Not trying to start anything here whatsoever. I just wanted to show a comparison between a high-end PC and console.
Console version looks good, but this shows how Capcom is actually putting in some extra care on this port. Fantastic job.
(PC version is running Max everything with Chromatic Aberration turned off, SSAO, and 5K downsampled to 1080p running at 60~65fps.)

I liked the demo from what little I played. I was able to do a stable high/very high settings 1080p/60s on a 1060, although the temps definitely were on the warmer side.
If it looks like a walking simulator and quacks like a walking simulator, then it's...
"Oh, no guys, it's NOT a walking simulator, I know. I have super secret inside information, it looks and plays like Resident Evil!".
Anyway, I have mixed feelings about the game. Actually got into more it than I expected, but it still seems like it's just SOMA and Outlast again. With limited, shitty Skyrim combat.
I thought that they did a really good job making me feel like I was actually inside of a house. It had less of a "video game" feel in that regard than most, and while I'm not going to be playing it in VR, I can only imagine what it would be like on Vive.
That being said, the texture work was all over the place. Some of it was great, most of it was average for a console and some was just flat out awful. I also couldn't tell if it was simply the textures, or if the game is liberally smeared with chromatic aberration. Whichever it was, it didn't do any favors for the overall look.
Also, are you even supposed to be able to "beat" the demo and get the good ending? I played it, beat it within ten minutes, got the bad ending and wondered if that was it.
Replayed it,
got to the basement, died.
Replayed it, did everything I thought that I possibly could, still wondering where a key or lockpick was to
the kitchen drawer. Died.
Did everything the same again except for going into the wooden door in
the basement. Instead, I turned around, found the actual lockpick, found the axe, went around destroying every box I could and also tried chopping the planks on barred doors to no avail. Did absolutely everything again, only to die yet again in the basement. Couldn't kill the monster with the axe. Tried chopping at it's head, tried chopping at its chest. Tried hitting it with the body that you can interact with. Died.
Another thing; are the people in the house just fucking with you and ushering you, or is it just some random gameplay oversight? You can start the game and enter
the hidden space found by pulling the lever in the fireplace. The key isn't there, but it magically appears after you watch the video. Are they just chilling in the basement, hear the video and then toss it up?
The game might end up actually being above average, but this demo at least feels nothing like Resident Evil to me.
edit: Just noticed the chromatic aberration option in the OP. Dumb, for whatever reason, I didn't realize that I could actually scroll down after Texture Filtering.
Yeah I asked the guy directly how he did it and how hard it was and he got back straight away saying he basically used a trainer so it wasn't really a mod.

Do you have the rendering mode set to interlaced rather than normal?
I haven't tested it, but I would assume that interlaced rendering halves the vertical resolution and uses temporal reconstruction to fill in the gaps - which would cause artifacts like that.

The locale may appear, though it's likely just a downsized concept of the household you enter in I'm assuming the first hour of the game before entering the Plantation house featured in all the marketing.
Whoever you are playing is not in RE7.
Sewer Gators supposedly are not, but could be in a similar VHS tape.
So in short, it won't be.
Not sure if that's what you wanted clarification on.

It would be a fun throwback if there's a form of this as a VHS tape given that they are just optional (though sometimes valuable) distractions from the main game. However, Capcom has said from the start that this demo and the character you are playing as are not in RE7. Elements in it though (VHS, First person perspective, Bakers, Moulded, melee and firearm weapons) will be.
I've got an HDR compatible TV, but I've only ever used it for movies - usually an override message pops up telling me the tv has switched to an HDR mode. Demo doesn't do that, so I guess no HDR? Or do I have to enable something driver side?
Is FOV cutsomizeable? I know that RE combat is intended to be clunky and claustrophobic, but I geninuely felt disoriented to the point of frustration by just trying to properly turn around and orient myself in a small room while dodging the monster. The game does terrible job of giving you any sense of presense in that physical space, so I never feel how close I am to objects at all...

I don't think it helps peoples definition of a "Walking Simulator" has been so deeply skewered and twisted at this point, I think people assume any first-person game with exploring in it is a walking sim, even if it has deeper mechanics going on in it.
You know usually I don't play demos but in this case I appreciate it exists so I can verify that my computer setup can run it decently. I barely meet the minimum requirements, first game in years.
GTX 760 with i7 3.1ghz and 12 gb ram. Ran it at 1920x1080 with medium texture quality. Everything ran smooth for me and I'm not someone who needs it maxed. Enjoyed the demo.
OK, after some fiddling I got it to (what looks like) 60 fps locked at 1.2 resolution, so I'm satisfied. Not much to go on in this demo of course, the full game might be a different case.
Edit: What's the resolution on PS4 Pro btw, does anyone know?
whats PS4 pro setting? It's suppose to have checkerboard 4K support right? I have a 970 too, I can only run it at 1080p everything maxed out shadow cache off and HBA+ to get similar performance as PS4pro. Seems very demanding for such low requirement.

Those settings are probably a lot higher than the PS4 Pro.
The rendering reoslution on the Pro is probably hard to determine. Some "4K" supported games arre checkerboard rendered up until 1800p or so, then uspcaled the rest of the way. So it's a mix of checkerboard rendering at higher than 1080p resolution, then upscaling the rest of the frame size.
The comparisons I've seen match a PC rendering at about 80% of 4K but results will differ from game to game. Some don't look better than the same game running at 1440p on a $K panel, especially with the improved IQ and texture quality that is usually found on the PC.
