Final Fantasy XV |OT2| For Jared!

Still doing sidequests in chapter 3 before proceeding to the city -- any reason to hang around a little longer? I hit level 20 so it seems like soon the sidequests might run out? I was thinking about taking it slow until the supposed content patch for the alleged terrible chapter 13, but then again it might be worth seeing what that is all about and then playing again on NG+?

I don't mind being overlevelled at all in this game though. Makes the combat more snappy :)

I'm in the terrible maze known as Crestholm Channels. On the Ever Illustrious Regalia quest. Managed to kill Nagatoni. At the exact area where the headlights should be but I dont see them... help!!

Look for the one hallway where there is a railing and behind it is a small area with three arched tunnels that lead to different areas. The middle tunnel leads you to where the headlights are.

Can somebody explain why the Coeurl hunt was such a massive battle compared to everything else the game has thrown at me so far?

I was even overleveled at that point!

Yeah there are some enemies that for some odd reason if they are lower level and you are quite higher level they are still quite tough battles. The Coeurl are among those enemies.

Its incredible how many times i overlooked this one haha. Wasn't until i started to check the map that i realized this was the only place i had yet to explore.

I went down the other 2 and didn't even realize i hadn't gone down them all. And the map marker reeeeaaaalllly makes it seem like its in that one area where you have to crawl, even though it isn't.

I ran into a Couerl right after I left the first dungeon. Run Noctis Run!

I ran past it 50x, spend a good 2 hours in there looking for it.

Fastest way to level fishing? Just... fish willy-nilly?

Just keep fishing, look for the big fish. Make sure you are using the best rods and reels available because they make a big difference. Fish shops sell them.

Yea. i kept taking the tunnel that would inevitably have me drop all the way down. I must've done that like 10 times. hahaha

Its a sneaky dungeon, thats for sure.

That's what I did. I went to the Vesperpool fishing spot, fished all the fish out like 3 times, go camp at nearest campground, and repeat. It took me a good 2-3 hours.

That and a fishing tour will happen when you camp at the Vesperpool campground.

Gladion is my highest skill (5) followed by promoto (4) noctics (3) and ignis (2) I rarely camp as I usually use inns for additional exp.

Also fuck creouls those stupid cat things do obscene amounts of damage is there no electic resist stuff in this game?

Holy fuck the dual Yoda's fight, they can go die in a fire. Are they gonna abuse on 1 hit KO enemies now?

Frankly, if it wasn't for (endgame spoiler)
Aranea
glitch I would not have made it.

Bta, after that
I got another Aranea spawn, so I had 2 Araneas... and then both left :/

Could hear Prompto cry from a distance....

There's quite a few electric resist stuff in the game. Also look into stuff that raises spirit.

The hard part of coerls isn't their aoe, but rather the fact that they can heal themselves.

I dunno why, but I still find that Noctis' passion for fishing to be oddly adorable. You don't look at him and expect it.

At first you'll be chasing for that exp, but camping can be pretty dope. Ignis' skill goes up, with the right skill you get ap, and the meal bonus can be nice. Plus you get some scenes with your party when you camp certain places (like you do with some inns.

Aside from a couple weapons, is there a reason to capture those forts? I don't want to end up missing something, but I find those giant walking robots annoying to fight.

It's down one of the adjacent tunnels and then downstairs. Look up a video, it's mad confusing.

keep looking around, i thought the same thing.you prob need to hit newer areas.

I dont know how to explain this since its such a maze in there. But its not on the lower levels, forget about those area's. You need to go through a stairway that you've probably ran past 50x without realizing it because its kind of sandwiched between two other hall ways.

From the entrance you can go left or straight, go straight. then you will come across the first switch, keep going straight and take your first left after that. Then turn right. I believe there are 3 area's you can go to from your left, check all of those.

This is a good dungeon to use R3 to check your map. Places you have not been at are usually clouded dark. Pretty sure its easy to point out the places that are left to go based on this.

It is a very confusing dungeon if you don't tho.

I FOUND IT!!!! THANK YOU GUYS!!!! I kept running around and I eventually stumbled upon it after running in circles for 2 days in the game. I feel like crying. Whoever designed that dungeon is a monster. I also hit all the switches and a latch is now open...?

Yea. go all the way down to where you fight the snake thingie. make your way up and there will be a blue/teal door open. On the map it shows with 4 keys next to it. You can't miss it.

I'm in the Crestholm Channels, this place is huge. I don't have any more time to play right now, and I can't save in here. If I leave the dungeon to save and come back, do all of the monsters respawn? Do the puzzles reset? Or do I have to resort to PS4 rest mode?

The enemies do not come back, and the puzzles do not reset. I had to return twice to finish that place, many quests and days later each time.

Careful, there's a strong boss inside. Go outside and save it before fighting him.

Yep, it's honestly more fun to just fly around the turtle in the Regalia and appreciate the model. I have the trophy but I'm not proud.

i fell asleep 2 different nights during the battle and putting ps4 pro in rest mode when waking up from dozing off. i just kept hitting one of it's toes with the circular saw plus.
oh nice there's a trophy? i turned off notifications so i didn't notice.

are some enemies immune to the Death spell? How do I know which enemies? There have been some where I used my entire MP bar channeling the spell and then nothing happens.

Does anyone have any tips for chocobo racing? I'm just not good at it and I'm only on the second race. Gladio ran so far ahead of me in seconds...

Not sure if this works.. but when you rest at a camp site you can feed your chocobo greens. One of them gives you a larger stamina bar. Have you tried that?

So, I've put a lot of thought into this, and after 70 hours of playtime I think I have the answer for the game's single most important question.

Ignis is best husbando. It's time we all face this objective truth. Here are the facts:

-Can cook like a five star chef, all for you.
-Only reliable driver, cares for your nightly safety.
-Has by far the most useful techniques in battle. Coupled with the godly bonus his food provides, the whole game could just be the Noctis-Ignis misadventures and the other 2 would be barely missed from a gameplay perspective.
-"That's it! I've come up with a new recipeh!" By far the catchiest catchphrase of the game.
-His accent.
-Is the one that keeps the group together in the direst situations. You could almost say he Regroups them.
-Fights with Lances, effectively making him the Dragoon of the party. We all know Dragoons are the best and coolest.
(CHAPTER 9 SPOILERS)-
Was blinded for your sins.

The evidence is Overwhelming and there's no denying it. Sorry, Promptets, but your boy will have to settle for silver.

As for the women there's clearly no competition, Aranea just wipes the floor.

Level the chocobo.

Feed the chocobo food at a campsite. It works in the races.

Drifting actually restores the sprint meter. Never saw this mentioned anywhere.

I beat Gladiolus without knowing these things. Might be a lack of sleep on my part but it took forever.

You have to utilize drifting. L2/LT to initiate the drift, and while holding left or right on the steering analog stick, hit L2/LT again when the chocobo jumps at the end of the drift to restore sprint stamina. You can practice in the open world.

Lets not forget that (Chapter 14 spoilers)
10 years after going blind, he not only can do everything he used to, but now can throw spears like its nothing! As someone in another thread said: Unlimited spear works. Love it

But yeah. While I think Prompto is the best bro from a bro perspective, Ignis is straight up Husbando material.
I agree with you on Aranea. As much as I like Iris, Aranea wins my vote any day.

You have to utilize drifting. L2/LT to initiate the drift, and while holding left or right on the steering analog stick, hit L2/LT again when the chocobo jumps at the end of the drift to restore sprint stamina. You can practice in the open world.

The final race can't be beat unless you use specific greens at camp. Drifting and whatever will not win you that race.

Right now at level 34 their aoe takes noctis out in one shot and he can't phase to dodge so my brain has to rethink fighting them

I know about the bonus scenes and how much better stat buffs ignus cooking gives, but unless I know I'm taking on something really strong its often unneeded

It seems that way. Just dodge them to death.

Man that chapter is so boring.

So Vesperpool is the best place to level up fishing post game? I'm level 7 so hopefully it doesn't take too long. I'm going to be doing that while waiting for the patch to hit later this wee.

Pro. Lite or high res?

Lite if you want a steady 30fps with no frame pacing issues.

HR if you don't mind drops in 30fps and a continuous frame pacing issue.

I played it in HR cuz it looks way nicer and it looks great on my 4k display. Are you doing 4k? or downsampling?

Dodge rolls and sword backflip have substantial i-frames. Time your rolls responsibly.
Their AOEs are pretty well telegraphed, so if all else fails, just warp out. Warping also has some nice i-frames and can take you out a distance. Dagger warps are fastest (outside of magic warping, but thats really short distance)

Pro. Lite or high res?

The game still looks great during rainy weather, night, sundown, etc even on lite.
Lite has no (or very very infrequent) frame pacing issues
High has a ton of frame pacing issues and expect your ps4 pro to get loud.

Try them out and see if the frame pacing issues are an issue for you. If they are, switch to lite.

Finished the game and have mixed feelings about it. Overall I'd say I enjoyed it but it felt very disjointed, the characters never really clicked with me and there was never really any development for any of them, the Jared bit was systematic of the character developments and story as a whole. Dungeons are great, battle system is passable but suffers in the same way Ni No Kuni does but at times it can work fantastically like it does during the Ifrit boss battle. Brilliant world but lacks life, story had potential but was just flat and spread far too thinly with no real narrative driving it forward. The development of characters that was in Brotherhood should have been in the game to help create a bond between the characters rather than the rag tag group it felt like at the end. Even though I find it easier to highlight the flaws I have a better opinion of it than what I just wrote would suggest. I feel it has all the elements to be one of the best Final Fantasies but they don't fit together properly.

That's... actually very hard to argue against.

I guess I never saw him that way, because he was such a mother to Noctis in Brotherhood.

But I'm not Noctis. He can still be my husbando.

Am I missing something with the Regalia? I have the component installed that keeps it clean and it still gets dirty, very quickly I might add. I'm getting sick of driving it to Cindy only to hear Prompto and Ignis bitch that it's dirty again a literal hour later. Just what does this component even do?

I just can't decide what is the best bro, like them all. Although your points do have a lot of logic lol

Women side it's no contest, yeah. Kudos to her being the only important female character that I don't want to stab when they can't stop moving while talking. Wtf is that?
