It's up in the eShop now. Just downloaded it. Looks like I have to clear it once to access the special mode.

Yeah, you have to see the ending (any ending) once to get it.

Picked it up this morning but haven't unlocked Special Mode yet. The 3D arcade cab on the Home Menu is cool though!

I posted this in the EU collection thread, but thought it might have a bit more visibility here.

The EU version of the collection is out now and it has actually got a retail release, but it's an Argos exclusive for some reason. Same price as digital (£24.99).

Just picked up a copy, but have seen that it's pretty limited availability around the country so if you want a copy get on it!

Nice that it got a physical release. Is it Volume 2 like NA got?

Are there any more details on this? I assume it will include Archives 3 interviews?

I can't read a word of Japanese but I might buy anyway, because I've wanted this for ages.

Yeah, it's edited versions of the previously-published interviews plus new interviews for Final Stage and a few other little things like comics and so on.

When will Power Drift release as a separate download in the US?

Probably never, unless they do standalone versions of the games from Archives 3 and do them all together as a sort of 3D Classics Wave 3 for the West. Can't really see Power Drift (and Puyo Puyo) on their own having enough interest to warrant a localisation when they're in 3D Classics Collection already, but who knows?

I just hope a physical release of Archives 3 happens in the west. I have to be able to play the new stuff: Turbo OutRun, Thunder Force III and Alien Syndrome.

I will be extremely bummed if there is no way for me to play TF3. Time to make some Twitter noise I guess..

You're probably better off tweeting at @SEGA and @SEGA_Europe than okunari. Not feeling great about our chances on this one though :(

Damn - I'll have to get a JPN version of the 3DS to play TF3 it looks like. These truly are the FUCKYOU 3D Archives.

Yeah I reckon Sonic 3 & Knuckles would be the number one request, unless they are excluding games that they are unable to release for licensing reasons.

It most likely is at this point. AFAIK, Sonic 3 specifically went missing in the Wii's VC — and Sega simply didn't want to green light the S3&K remaster in spite of an impressive petition.
I believe Sonic 3 was also excluded from one of Sega's official TV output emulator. Then one has to factor in S&K Collection completely changing some songs, and even simply S&K replacing some jingles for seemingly no reason. (Other than perhaps to make the games feel different, but they're still ones that have that distinct Baxter feel)

Sonic 3 was on the Wii VC from pretty early on and I don't think it was ever delisted, same goes for the XBLA and Steam versions.

It has less to do with the actual content and more to do with the timing of the release--Sega's far less willing to risk it now that MJ's dead and other people are handling his estate.

Oh, wow, yeah, what the hell? Not sure how I missed it in which case because that was definitely one game I wanted.

I broke down and ordered a Japanese New 3DS LL today from Amazon.jp just for this collection (I pre-ordered the triple pack, btw). The things I do to get my classic SEGA fix.

It's pretty rad to have a JP 3DS around (I bought mine last year for Archives 2). Access to eShop games is super easy because credit cards aren't region-locked.

Judging by your monthly pickups in the MarkMan threads, I'm sure you'll really enjoy the JP N3DS. Especially since it has physical releases of some games that are e-shop only in the west like Kokuga and Sayonara Umihara Kawase.

Would love to see Gotta Protectors get a physical release tho.

Archives 3 now has an eShop listing on Nintendo's website (and a 3D video on the 3DS storefront): https://www.nintendo.co.jp/titles/50010000041677

Interestingly (to me, anyway), the boxart there seems to be an earlier version with a different background and no game logos:

I'll give Sega of America a few months to announce a localization and if I don't hear anything then I'll import it like I did the first game.

They really should just make a new soundtrack for S3&K. I know, the soundtrack is amazing and iconic, but it's obviously a major detriment to this game ever being rereleased.

There's a dozen Sega games that *haven't* been re-released over and over that I'd rather see get some attention than another Sonic game (even if I do love S3&K). Besides, I'd rather have no Sonic 3 port than a Sonic 3 port with a different soundtrack - that'd be like releasing Crazy Taxi without the Offspring tracks...

They did for the original PC collection, and it was pretty great (and equally iconic to those of us who played the game more on that collection than anything else). Why they never bothered re-arranging those tracks is a mystery, but I can understand the sentiment of preserving the original. It's a similar situation to Shenmue getting re-released.

Still pouring one out for that. Thank goodness for modding.

I wish Sega release a physical collection with all three packs on it in NA...or a least a pack with all the games except the collection they already released and brand it as the sequel of the first one or something like that, just make it work!
