  1. Horizon Zero Dawn : Stunning graphics, intriguing premise, and gameplay that looks very fun. What more can you ask for? Maybe robot dinosaurs. Oh wait. (plus, the gameplay looks smooth and fun as hell)
  2. Mass Effect: Andromeda : I love Mass Effect 2 so much, so I'm very excited to see how far the franchise has grown and the idea of being explorers in a new galaxy is exciting as well.
  3. NieR: Automata : I haven't played a character action game in quite some time, and it's Platinum, so I'm excited as all hell for this game. The blend of bullet hell, side scrolling, and hack n' slash somehow really works too, based on the demo, so I'm looking forward to the whole game. (bonus: android waifu)
  4. Nioh : Solid gameplay from the two demos I've played. It's really challenging and rewarding, and lots of fun too. I especially love the setting (that's my inner weab) and I'm pretty interested in what the story may be as well. I enjoy it significantly more than Bloodborne due to the combat system, as well as it not being as "scary." (bonus: ninja waifu)
  5. Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue : It's Feels: The Game, part 2.8, or something like that. Also: Aqua.
  6. Tales of Berseria : It's a Tales game, and I'll always be looking forward to those. Even when the protagonist has such an awful outfit.
  7. Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy : Come on.
  8. Injustice 2 : Loved the first game, really like the AU, and I'm looking forward to more characters. Here's to hoping that we get Black Canary, Red Hood, and Black Manta.
  9. Detroit: Become Human : Never played a David Cage game before, but I've always been interested. This one seems even more interesting due to the premise, and I've really liked what I've seen so far.
  10. Persona 5 : Not a big fan of Persona, to be honest, but I do like it a lot. Most importantly, however, it's stylish as fuck.

1. Horizon Zero Dawn
2. Persona 5
3. Nier: Automata
4. Nioh
5. Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony
6. Shenmue 3
7. Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom
8. Gravity Rush 2
9. Tales of Berseria

1. Mass Effect: Andromeda : I'm ready to finally step back into the Mass Effect universe. Bring it on!

2uls5x.png

2. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard : Alien Isolation was a fantastic release and turned me onto the FPS horror genre even if nothing since then has grabbed me in the same way; I think, after that demo, Resident Evil 7 might be the game to finally capture my attention in the same way. Also great to have it release so early in the year!

3ubshf.png

3. NieR: Automata : The original NieR is a fantastic but rough game. Platinum doing the gameplay work for the sequel with Yoko Taro handling the story is something that sounds like fan-fiction because of how perfect it is. I cannot wait.

4qksna.png

4. Prey : The initial CG trailer from E3 really grabbed my attention. If the game strikes that tone while nailing the immersive sim gameplay I think this could be a big "get" for 2017.

55xsac.png

5. Halo Wars 2 : Playing Deserts of Kharak this year reminded me just how much I love traditional RTS releases. Getting another "AAA" game with Blur cinematics and the Halo IP is something I'm very much looking forward to.

6r0set.png

6. The Long Journey Home : Big fan of Star Control 2 and after seeing the game at PAX East this year it looks like The Long Journey Home might be the spiritual successor I've been hoping for; the FTL inspired elements are just icing on the cake.

7ptst1.png

7. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild : Haven't looked too much at the media released during/since E3 but some of the things I've glimpsed at look intriguing.

89oshj.png

8. Cuphead : Just gorgeous.

9jbstj.png

9. Horizon: Zero Dawn : Speaking of gorgeous the art direction in Horizon, let alone the technical work, is astounding. Really hope the actual game lives up to it's looks.

10bkswy.png

10. Scalebound : While everything I've see of the game from public demos looks...OK it's the little details from places like this that have me interested. Really pulling for this one.

x.Sea of Thieves : Cooled a bit on this from last year but I'm sure the beta will get me onboard if anything will.
x.Persona 5 : Still want to get to playing Persona 2 and 4 before this so I'm sure I'll enjoy the game in 2018. Sounds like it'll be a blast though.
x.Crackdown 3 : I was late to the Crackdown party only playing the original game a couple years ago but I'm more than down for more agility orb hunting. It will be good to finally see more of the game though aside from the tease we got last year.
x.Torment: Tides of Numenera : Planescape: Torment is something I've meant to go back to for years after playing it on my netbook and losing my save mid-way through. Hopefully, this spiritual successor manages to knock it out of the park.

1) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild : God I love Zelda. I'm a bit hesitant with the new, open world direction, but I'm always here for Zelda.
2) Mass Effect: Andromeda : Mass Effect is one of the few modern AAA franchises that I actually like the keep current with. Probably gonna have to upgrade my PC, though...
3) Yooka-Laylee : Never played the Banjo games, but I have to support the love and respect for classic platformer design.
4) Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series : I'm a sucker for Telltale, GotG, and Dancin' in the Moonlight.
5) Cuphead : Long awaited. Gorgeous as ever. Definitely going to kick my ass.
6) Dragon Quest XI : Will this be my first Dragon Quest? All I know is my gut says maybe.
7) Shenmue III : Because, come on, how can you NOT be anticipating this one?
8) Sea of Thieves : Put at the bottom because I really don't know how fun it'll be... but a goofy open-world pirate game is the sort of thing I've always dreamed of.

1. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

3. Sonic Mania
4. NieR Automata
5. Yooka Laylee

1. Persona 5: Been waiting for Winter 2014 for too damn long. At this point I have my phone P5 themed. Dual audio is a definite plus for the first time in the series. I bought a PS3 for this in 2014 and a PS4 for it in 2015. Of course, I got introduced to other series (many down below) thanks to the PS3 purchase in particular, but the king still awaits. It's so close I can taste it. Bring on the Phantom Thieves!

2. Danganronpa V3: After playing DR1, and especially DR2, this series has become one of my favorites. Case 5 from DR2 (
the Komaeda one
) rocketed that game into stardom in my eyes. Looking forward to this semi-reboot. Please, no more
Junko
though!!

3. Yakuza 0: In reality, tied for 2nd place with DRv3. Marathoner Yakuza 1-4 last year to get ready for Yakuza 5, and they certainly exceeded my expectations. Such a great crime drama, with a one of a kind sense of progression over the years between each entry. Yakuza 0 introducing Majima as a playable character is ideal, as he is one of the favorites. Glad it's on the PS4, and at 60fps no less!

4. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: The reason I want a Switch on launch. The day of the media blowout at E3, I was beyond on board. I was pumped. The environments shown in recent screenshots look awesome, such as the snowy environments, and I can't wait for more. I don't suffer open world burnout like others because I don't play many open world games :p
Kudos to Nintendo for Switching (hah) the series up.

5. Kingdom Hearts 2.8: Played 1.5 and 2.5 HDs this past summer (too bad I didn't wait for the PS4 version but oh well), and heard about Dream Drop Distance having some The World Ends With You action. Nomura better put Shibuya in KH3, but for now cameos in DDD are good enough. Also Aqua is an awesome magic user as seen in Birth by Sleep.

6. Nier Automata: That demo. I slowly got curious about this game thanks to hearing about how good of a dev Platinum is. Then I played God Hand, made by some of Platinum's devs and got even more interested because it was sick. Now I'm super excited and can't wait to play the full game, especially because of its RPG mechanics with that combat.

7. Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns: Unlike the many people who only will play Stardew Valley and refuse to play Harvest Moon (now Story of Seasons), I love the series' current titles. XSEED has amazing localizations and are so charming, as seen in Story of Seasons and Rune Factory 4. I hear surprisingly good impressions from Japan so I'm excited.

8. Sonic Mania: I loved that announcement stream. One of the best ones I've ever watched, if not the best, because of how much and how hard I laughed during it. That's not to say that's the reason though - the game looks so smooth! Sonic 2 and CD are some of my favorites, and it looks similar to those.

9. Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite: I hear Gene from God Hand is pretty likely. Sold.

10. Sonic 2017: More of a filler for now, since we don't know much about it, but hey, if it's anything like Generations it'll be fun.

This list is tentative though, as 2017 will be very different with the Switch. I'm still very excited for these games though.

1. Dragon Quest XI : Probably won't be playing this in English next year, but I will be importing it and watching my husband play (he's fluent in Japanese, I'm... not). All you need to do is look at my avatar as to why this is #1 for me. It looks fucking fantastic.
2. Yakuza 0 : Never been disappointed with any Yakuza game, even Dead Souls. This looks awesome and it looks like it features a lot of Majima, and Majima is the best character (except for Akiyama of course).
3. Persona 5 : Just did a replay of the first 3 Persona games (meaning 1, 2:IS, and 2:EP). I know this game isn't going to capture that old-school magic, but I hope I'll at least enjoy it. Of the "new Persona" games, loved 3, didn't like 4. Hoping for the best.
4. Yakuza Kiwami : It's a remake, but it's been a long time since I played the first game. I know I'll love this updated version.
5. Ni No Kuni 2 : Really enjoyed the first game. Hoping I like this one as well. It looks like they changed up the battle system quite a bit; hope it's for the best.
6. Shenmue 3 : Lower on the list mainly because I sort of doubt it will come out this year. And I'm not sure it'll be good. If I had assurances of both, it'd probably be #2 on this list, because I love me some Shenmue.
7. Dragon Quest VIII : The 3DS remake, of course. Why not? I loved the original and the QOL improvements sound fantastic. This'll be the first game I get this year. Great way to kick off the year.
8. Dragon Quest Heroes II : Seen my hubby play the import of this. It looks like a big improvement on the first game in almost every way. Should be lots of fun.
9. Cosmic Star Heroine : I got a lot of faith in this one. Really hoping it captures that old-school magic. It looks fantastic.
10. Atelier Firis : Lower on the list than it should be because of the QC issues with the Japanese version. Really hoping they're fixed for the NA release.

Horizon: Zero Dawn has the potential to be a phenomenal game, IF Guerrilla focus on the important elements of an RPG and open world game and dont try and replicate the incredibly dull Ubisoft style open world games.

I want secret super bosses, hidden underground ruins and dungeons. I want to see more of a JRPG influence. If they manage that, along with the amazing concept and great looking combat itll be amazing. I hope they nail it but I'm aware I might be expecting too much.

1. The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild : Remember when everyone was laughing/panicking over Nintendo just showing Zelda at E3? Best decision they've made in a while, by showing how rebooting the whole formula can pay off. This is a Nintendo game, but systemic. And it works! Can't wait, the slow news they gave us until now show enough to hype it, without giving too much to tire people out already.
2. Nioh : Those thinking that Team Ninja can't make a great game anymore probably aren't paying attention since Ninja Gaiden 3 Vanilla, and didn't play the Alpha/Beta of this game. It can be summed up as Dark Souls by the Ninja Gaiden devs, but it's more than that. Great combat system, great graphics and art, superb atmosphere and apparently tens of hours of a fantastic ARPG coming up.
SecondaryNiftyArachnid-size_restricted.gif

3. Nier Automata : It was already pretty high last time in my most anticipated list simply due to being made by a dream team (writing, gameplay, art, music...) and all those news since the announcement (+ the demo) kept it that high despite some other fantastic games announced since. Can't wait, not regretting one second of buying that Black Box :p
4. Red Dead Redemption 2 : Loved the first game on every level despite it being limited by the hardware. Hopefully the single player will be just as good this time, and the multiplayer will improve on GTAO. Can't wait to spend hours in the wild west once again.
5. Yakuza 0 : I'm loving the fact that Yakuza is coming to the west again, and while Kiwami is a great remake, I'm really looking forward to playing a new mainline entry in a really interesting setting. Can't wait for 6 after that of course.
6. Gravity Rush 2 : GR1 was one of the best games on Vita, and 2 looks fantastic (play that demo). I'm not sure what to expect of the story this time to be honest, but I'm confident it'll be a great game nonetheless.
7. Persona 5 : After being disappointed by 4, 5's trailers put me in a more optimistic mood. It definitely looks fantastic on an artstyle point of view, dungeons seem good again and gameplay seem to have improved as well. It's great to see Persona get a bit darker again. Hopefully it'll stay this way, and SMT will get darker as well after Apocalypse.
8. Sea of Thieves : It's great to see Rare being allowed to make something only Rare could make again. Seems really interesting, and for everyone.
9. Windjammers : It's an old game, but what an old game! Online too this time!
10. Prey : A lot more interested in this than I was in Dishonored 2. Sure, I miss Prey 2 and regret they couldn't name it differently, but it seems to be a great spiritual successor to the Shock series.

Might add more details later.
Various honorable mentions include Sonic Mania, all those unannounced Switch games, Musou Stars, Squadron 42 ( ;) ), Ace Combat 7, Persona 5, Scalebound, FFXII Zodiac Age...

I think that's about it for the time being. Most of the other games I'm looking forward to either don't have a solid release date or aren't formally revealed yet.

1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild : In E3 2016 we finally got a solid idea of what the next entry of The Legend of Zelda would be like, and everything shown so far has made me ecstatic. While I was worried about the game having a sparse open world when the title was announced in 2014, this years' footage has done well to mitigate my fears. Hyrule looks pretty dense and a standout is how many ways Link can interact with the world around him. Sliding down a hill on your shield, chopping down trees with an axe to make bridges, lighting grass on fire and using its updraft to glide into the air... It all seems incredibly promising.

2. Persona 5 : I haven't played much of Persona 3 or 4, but the trailers and footage for Persona 5 have grabbed me a lot more. I love what I've seen of the game's vibe and I'm glad to see a mainline Persona game with non-randomized dungeon layouts. Everything about it looks great so far.

3. NieR: Automata : I never played the original NieR and don't have much experience with Platinum Games, but Automata's demo left a fantastic impression on me. Almost immediately after I finished it, I played through it again to try out a different equipment setup. I went from being mildly interested in the game to quite excited.

4. Tales of Berseria : I've played plenty of Tales games so I know what to expect going into it. However, the trailers and footage seem like Berseria is a noticeable step up from the previous entry, Tales of Zestiria, which wasn't a game that I was too attached with. The really positive import impressions have also made me excited to get the game.

5. Horizon Zero Dawn : I think Horizon's gameplay looks promising, but nothing I've seen about the story has really grabbed me so far. I might wait and see on this one,but I hope it turns out well.

6. Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue : I've already played Dream Drop Distance and I know Aqua's new story is short, but I'm still excited to play it sometime this year. I'm really interested in how the gameplay in Aqua's story will turn out since it'll give an idea of how Kingdom Hearts III will play.

7. Yooka-Laylee : I never played any of Rare's 1990's platformers, but this game seems to be shaping up pretty well.

8. Sonic Mania : I really like the style of this game from what I've seen, but I might want to see a bit more before deciding on whether or not I pick it up.

9. Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom : I'll be honest, while I was really impressed by Ni No Kuni early on, it wore on me with time and after a while I just stopped playing it. The main reason for the sequel being on this list is that the new combat system could potentially be an improvement over the first game's.

10. For Honor : I haven't been following this game too much, but the multiplayer footage I've seen looks really fun.

Ok, let's do this.

1. Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite : I don't play fighting games much these days as I almost only play them local versus, so I don't expect to play a ton of this .... and yet, I can't convince myself not to be excited for a new MvC game, I can't wait for the roster reveals, I can't wait to play it, I can't wait to suck at it
2. Horizon: Zero Dawn : The world seems interesting, the combat looks good, the hands on were pretty positive and the game looks gorgeous
3. The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild : In all honesty, I'd rather play a 2D Zelda rather than a 3D one, still Zelda is one of the best gaming franchise of all time. I am also really curious to see a Nintendo open world.
4. NiOh : I thought the first trailer was ok, but the alpha convinced me that I must play this game
5. Resident Evil 7 : The last time I found a RE scary was almost two decades ago, the tone of this one plus the fact that I should be playing everything in VR has me really excited, I just hope that VR is good and that it won't make me sick.
6. Nier : Automata : It was not on my list before I played the demo, and the demo left me wanting more of it.
7. Prey : the first trailer was interesting but what convinced me was the gameplay demo, it seems pretty cool and open on how to tackle the situation presented to the player, and arkane as a pretty good track record these past few years.
8. Red Dead Redemption 2 : It's here almost only because of the name and the developper, as they have basically shown nothing of that game
9. Yakuza 0 : A yakuza game set in the 80s and not on last gen, yes please.
10. Persona 5 : Good word of mouth, I like the persona games, it would probably be higher if I ever finished one of them...

x. Scalebound : it would have been on the list if not for the E3 demo. I still want to play it, but I am not as hyped for it.
x. Wipeout Omega Collection : It would be pretty high on my list but I don't want a remaster on there
x. Windjammer : same as wipeout
x. For Honor : It looks cool, the beta was well received, it's just not enough to make the top 10.

Let't do it.

1. Resident Evil 7 ; Looks so like original RE that it is amazing they are back to the roots.
2. Destiny 2 ; The game of the generation receives a sequel.
3. Gran Turismo Sports ; The market is starving for a GT game.
4. Dragon Quest XI ; The biggest JRPG series in the history.
5. Persona 5 ; After Persona 4 Golden I can't say no.
6. Ni No Kuni II ; Loved the first game.
7. Horizon Zero Dawn ; No other game to put here... I'm not excited for any new IP to be fair.
8. Nier: Automata ; I liked a lot the first game but Platinum name is putting me off from the game... let't see how it works.
9. Final Fantasy XII ; Tied with FFVI as of best FF ever.
10. Kingdom Hearts 2.8 ; Never played any of the games.

I had a good laugh at Persona 5 being in the top 10 so many years in a row. That being said:

1. Persona 5: It's another Atlus RPG. What's not to like?

2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: It's another Zelda game. What's not to like? (I wouldn't know since I've been on media blackout with this game.)

3. Sonic Mania: It's another Sonic game. What's not to li - err, well it looks better than any new sidescrolling Sonic game in the past 3 decades. This is coming from someone who has liked even some of the newer 2D Sonics like Advance 1 & 3, and Rush. And it's by the same people who made the enhanced versions of Sonic 1 & 2 on mobile, and those were really damn good. Too bad they are not on PC. CD is, but I haven't played that one.

4. Project Sonic 2017: I'm just really interested to see what they'll do with this one. My guess is that it's basically going to be Generations 2, even if the story doesn't tie into it, and you know what, I think that's OK.

5. A Hat in Time It's always nice to see new 3D platformers since I'm a big fan of the genre, and this game looks like it does platforming well. I really wish I'd backed this when it was on Kickstarter.

6. Yooka-Laylee: Another good-looking 3D platformer. This one I actually backed.

7. Red Dead Redemption 2: I liked the first Redemption, I'm sure I'll like this too. Although, Rockstar's always been adding more bloat to each of their open world games, and the first Red Dead Redemption already felt like it was overstaying its welcome a bit.

8. Yakuza 0: I've only ever played the first Yakuza, but I really liked it. I'm interested to see how much has changed since then mechanically, and how well the story ties into and expands upon the first game.

9. Lady Layton: The Millionaire Ariadone's Conspiracy: I like Layton games well enough. Don't like the talking dog, but maybe I can get used to it.

10. Nier: Automata To be honest, I know very little about this game, but the little I've seen looks interesting and, well, I have to fill this list somehow, don't I?

1. Persona 5 : The hype is larger than ever now that it’s out in Japan and impressions are fantastic.
2. Horizon: Zero Dawn : The more I see, the more impressive this game becomes.
3. Ni No Kuni II : Though the game ran out of steam in the end, the beginning of the game (when it was still fully voice acted) drew me in like few other games have done. Hopefully this time around it stays amazing until the end.
4. Gravity Rush 2 : The demo felt right, and it’s almost time already.
5. Yakuza 0 : Finally, some Yakaza on the PS4.
6. Mass Effect: Andromeda : I’m hoping they learned from Mass Effect 3, because 1 and 2 are still some of my favorite games.
7. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy : It’s more Uncharted, I’m always up for that. Especially after Naughty Dog showed their skill yet again with Uncharted 4.
8. Danganronpa V3 : I’m ready to get lost into craziness yet again.
9. Wipeout: Omega Collection : A remake, that’s slightly disappointing, but I had given up hope on Wipeout on the PS4.
10. Yakuza Kiwami : I started Yakuza with 4, so it’ll be nice to get to experience what happened in the beginning in proper form. Would have been higher on the list if it was the only Yakuza in the year.

Top 3 above all else by a long shot. Bottom 5 are all close, heck there's another 5 games after that are just as close. 2017 is going to be another amazing year of gaming.

1. Gran Turismo Sport

4. Nioh
5. Nier: Automata

1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of the Wild
2. Red Dead Redemption 2
3. Persona 5
4. Sonic Mania
5. Sea Of Thieves

Honorable Mentions: Dat Mario Switch game, Doom SP dlc (Bethesda/id would be idiotic not to make it)

1. Legend Of Zelda Breath Of the Wild
: It's Zelda. There's not much that could possibly go wrong. I am not much for open world, but what we've seen so far seems great.

2. Sonic Mania
: It's 2D Sonic game, with a lot of stuff known to be right already. There's not much that could possibly go wrong. Well, and if it goes wrong, the carnage in the fan community will be really interesting.

3. "Sonic 2017"
: It's a Sonic Team game. There's a lot that could possibly go wrong for a change, but I liked a lot of typically disliked elements of their recent games, and the point above still applies.

4. Scalebound
5. Nier Automata
: I wasn't interested in recent Platinum output, and I am interested if the trend changes.

6. Yooka-Laylee
7. A Hat in Time
8. Crash Trilogy remaster
: I want more 3D platformers, what can I say.

9. Crackdown 3
: Very interested how this one will turn out given the apparent mid-development aim changes (cloud).

10. UMvC3 PC
: Since there was no PC version earlier, seems like this missed my neighbourhood. This looks like perfect occasion to take it for a spin with friends.

Dishonorable mentions, or why I don't have what you have:

Gravity Rush 2 and Horizon New Dawn look like solid new games and I don't doubt I will enjoy them when I get to play them but they don't really intrigue me so they don't qualify.

Mass Effect Andromeda sounds like another DAI which I don't doubt some would enjoy but I wouldn't.

I am mostly uninterested in... most genres, really. JRPGs in particular must do something really unique to pique my interest, and this rarely tends to happen before release.

Amongst 2D platformers, I don't doubt I will enjoy them, but none in particular seems to stand out besides Cuphead, which sounds more and more like Cup Head Forever.

Disqualified mention: Switch stuff will be there in 2017 almost assuredly, and will probably knock out a lot of things.

1. Persona 5
2. MvC Infinite
3. Yakuza 0
4. NiOh
5. Danganronpa V3
6. Yooka-Laylee
7. Nier 2 - Automata Boogaloo
8. Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I'm more of a "see what's during the year" kind of guy, but you can bet I preordered Persona 5 with the bag and all the other trash.

1. Red Dead Redemption 2
2. Crackdown 3
3. The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
4. Resident Evil VII
5. Nioh
6. Persona 5
7. Horizon: Zero Dawn
8. Nier: Automata
9. Tales Of Berseria
10. Sea Of Thieves

Edit: Apparently Destiny 2 doesn't count so I'm removing it from my #1 spot. I'm still going to mention it though as it's my most anticipated of hopefully 2017. I'll mention Mario Switch as well just so I can look back and say I was right to put it on my list.

Destiny 2 would be in my top 3 if it had been officially announced (Activision having it scheduled isn't enough, I need a title and release window from Bungie before it's real.)

Here we go :)

1. Mass Effect: Andromeda
It's BioWare, which is usually enough to put it at #1 for me :p But the improvements to make the combat more fluid (like individual instead of global cooldowns), plus more exploration have me pretty hyped to dive back into the franchise.

2. Battletech
I have been a huge fan of the universe and the video games for many years, so you bet that I backed the game the second the Kickstarter launched. Tactical combat plus managing your own mercenary outfit sounds great, plus Harebrained is one of the best developers when it comes to delivering crowdfunded games.

3. Dawn of War 3
The second game was one of my favorite strategy games ever, and even though I preferred the smaller scale, I still hope that the campaign will be just as much fun for DoW 3.

4. Horizon: Zero Dawn
This game caught my eye as soon as the first concept art leaked, thanks to the anachronistic world design. Plus, kudos to Guerilla Games on the technical side, as the game looks glorious so far.

5. Battle Chasers
Another game that I proudly backed on Kickstarter. Just look at it- while being a 2d turn-based game, I absolutely think that it is one of the best looking games to come out in 2017. And with some Ex-Vigil/ Crytek Austin folks, I am confident it will play just as well.

6. Ghost Recon Wildlands
Saw that E3 demo last year? Yup, I want to play that with 3 friends, and tear up Bolivia in coop.

7. Halo Wars 2
I loved the first game - RIP Ensemble - and have been interested in this one ever since I first heard whispers that a rts powerhouse like Creative Assembly was hired to work on it. Should be good!

8. Sea of Thieves
This game left me pretty cold when first announced, but then two things happened: They had a great trailer at E3 2016 that really sold the mood, and I had the chance to play the game at gamescom, in a very fun demo. Definitely want to see more of it, and play with friends instead of random attendes.

9. South Park: The Fractured But Whole
The first one is one of the best (and probably the #1 most faithful) licensed games I have ever played, and I am happy to go back to South Park. Would be higher on the list, but I am sad Obsidian is out, and prefer the fantasy setting over super heroes.

10. Scalebound
I have to admit that I have never played a Platinum game, but 4 player coop with customizable dragons for each player sure sounds interesting. I hope the next time we see the game, it will impress people and show more details about the game's structure.

Honorable Mentions
As I was working for CRYENGINE until earlier this month, I did not include these two licensee titles in my ranked list, but you can bet I want to play them day 1.

Prey
Arkane is a great developer with amazing level design, so seeing them build a spiritual successor to System Shock (using my former baby engine, no less) sounds great.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance
The attention to detail and passion these guys put into their game is absolutely phenomenal, and you can see it with every new video they put out. I hope this may be one of the sleeper hits of the year...

Destiny 2
Which would be my #2, but shinobi says it doesn't count until it is properly announced :p

I really wanted to include Detroit, Spider-Man and God of War but I guess those aren't sure fire releases for next year. I think most of these are though. Also wanted to give honorable mentions to RE7, DQXI, Wild, Knights and Bikes, Cosmic Star Heroine, Pyre, Rain World, What Remains of Edith Finch, Yooka-Laylee and Hob. 2017 is gonna be another great year!
