All those poor people that will get into the novel because "The anime is bad, you gotta play the original". (You know it's happening)

It's kinda fucked up if you think about it.

What's up with so many bad VN anime adaptations? Sometimes I'll see one that looks appealing, and then I hear how awful it is :/ What's the point of cramming in such a big story into like, 12 eps?

Isnt it like that with everything?

Anime is mostly the gateway to every other medium. Every time a manga runs here in Germany and sells bad, it wont be reprinted. So when an anime comes, the communities always demand the manga, because "I wanna read it because I saw the anime".

So I had no idea that the patch to Hatoful came out last month :x I assume it's only for the PC copy? Don't think there's a way to patch it to the Steam copy.

I don't think it's a patch at all. It's a standalone game consisting of the bonus content from the PS release. It's free (unless you want to pay).

The developer mentioned the free release here: http://moa810.tumblr.com/post/124614977927/hatoful-boyfriend-for-ps4v-coming-soon-as-you

Not sure why they didn't just release it as a free update to the Steam version. Could also have included the new standalone game as an alternate launch option.

Maybe it was a publisher/contract thing to add it? Ah ok, I was confused by the "run off Adobe Air" thing, so I guess I'll need that to run the .air.

Anime is usually just a marketing tool to sell goods/the source material?

From my understanding, Nekopara is actually a decent (as in "ok") series? I used to get it mixed up with the Sakura games, since some of those have cat-eared girls, too. But yeah I figured I'd give Nekopara a shot, if what I heard was true. Sounds like it's more... light-hearted than super-ecchi.

Is there a fix for the fullscreen bug for the Muv-Luv release on Steam? A quick search in the discussion area shows it was caused by an October update, it seems. I mean, if nothing else I can autohide the taskbar but it's kind of annoying.

I'll tell you, Starless is interesting but you need a good tolerance to typos.

There's also another nsfw in indiegala.

2 of the games from that one are still available in the giveaway here.

Hey,
I was going to try and change/upgrade my computer to Win 10 and wondered if all the VN I have would still run properly. The ones I have:

Ever 17
Never 7
Remember 11
G Senjou no Maou
Moon
Sekien no Inganock
Umineko 1-4
Uminkeo 5-8
Higurashi (opening chapter?)
Kara no Shoujo
Katawa Shoujo
Lucid 9
Jisei (demo)
Exogenesis (demo)

Has anyone had trouble running VN like this in W10?
On a related note I'd forgotten all about Exogenesis, hope the developer manages to finish the game. Lucid 9 was really good too.

You'll need a patch for E17, not sure about anything else.

That seems like a surprisingly good bundle, most of the titles are of course old but Yumina is great and definitely worth getting the $20 tier for that alone. Gameplay has some issues but it's a good SRPG from the makers of Aselia and Seinarukana, nice story, art and worldbuilding.

Starless is a pretty high production value nukige, so if that floats your boat it's an easy purchase for an extra $10. Kana is a timeless classic, so if you haven't played it it's certainly worth trying too.

World End Economica 3 was a nice conclusion to the story. Well other than how Hagana's character was handled as I found that really clumsy. I wasn't expecting the time skip, but there was no other way for that to go I suppose.

There were definitely some clumsy aspects to Hagan's stuff near the first part with her, although I think it came together well by the end.

Overall, it was a pretty good conclusion, although
that title drop was so silly and random that I just kind of burst out laughing
.

I think I still enjoyed the first episode the best on a character level, but Episode 3 was the most engaging in terms of the economic stuff.

I liked
the title drop, it was just the right sort of cheesy. Having Barton deliver it made it work.

I'd agree with this assessment, though I wouldn't say that the episodes vary that much in terms of quality. Even episode 2 had Eleanor to elevate it.

Oh, I'd agree that it was the right sort of cheesy, and the game sold it well. It just really did make me laugh a lot. It was just funny to go from a really dramatic scene where Hal is just barely managing to pull things out to having Barton turn around and say "You know Hal, you really are the World End Economica" and that music kicking in.

And yeah, I think all of the episodes were around a similar level of quality, although they were each pretty distinct in the way they went about their stories.

How long is Fata Morgana anyway and will I be fine without a guide? I might plunge in now that I got some of them sweet tax returns.

Took me about 36 hours to reach all endings.
There are vast areas of the game without any choices, but there are bad ends as well (though most of them in the choose 1 option to proceed, choose the other for a bad end format).
Definitely not as complicated as Steins;Gate's true end route.
(I used a guide either way, did not affect my enjoyment of the title in the least)

I'd also suggest a guide with Fata Morgana even though it's not hard to get to the true end.

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the gamey stuff in most tradtional visual novels I've played. Deducing the correct sequences or responses or whatever feels like busywork.

However, I wouldn't suggest a guide with more experimental interactive fiction like inkle's games. Fumbling your way through a non-optimal playthrough of 80 Days is kind of the point.
