I hope we see the XCX port and Monolith's new game at Switchmas.

Just don't hold anything back, Nintendo. Who cares if some games are 2+ years away, just make those promises. I don't care.

You'll regret that and you know it.

XCX was them getting up to speed on HD development. I could see the next one happening with a 3 year development and arriving in 2018 at the earliest.

Other people besides Laura are talking about XCX on switch? I thought it also only had one source.

she is the only one trusted, I mean even the Geno stuff had a Xenoblade X port
I send a lot of time watching you tubers talk about Switch so they all have been using LKD as a source anyway hard to tell if there were other sources

I just hope we get a nice trailer for the new game next week even a teaser would keep me happy

Nintendo said they will show games in development for the system so I expect 70 titles to be shown on Thursday.

ouch dude, you know how much EC loves his Mass Effect you did not have to go that far

I love both series about as much as EC. However the Shared DNA between both Xenoblade Chronicles and the Origional ME Trillogy as well as XCX and ME:A are undeniable.

Brief comparisons between XCX and ME:A below. Minor spoilers for the opening of both games

Both games start with a fleet of ships leaving an Earth facing iminent destruction

Both games have something go wrong with the landing/Arival and have the player character have to track down suvivors in Arc/lifeholds

Both games are about exploring and building a new life in a new galaxy/planet.

Both games have the player character who has access to every part of the skill tree and acts as a balancing force within the player party.

There are more simularities but i kept it deliberately general and spoiler light

I'm not expecting Monoliths new game to be shown. Which means if it is shown, it will be a genuine surprise for me

I will be totally let down if they don't even tease at it

January 12 needs to be all guns blazing if they want to make the Switch a hit, none of this let's not show Pokemon Stars shit. Show Us your wares.

Think about it...would Nintendo rather tease Monolith Soft's new game in the upcoming Switch presentation...or E3 2017...or sometime in 2018?

Given their options, the ideal time would be to reveal it next week where hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of excited fans will catch a glimpse of Monolith Soft's new project. This type of reveal format suits an RPG like Xenoblade the most...it would allow the game to build hype over a long period of time. It's certainly better than getting drowned out by the hype of AAA game announcements at E3 2017. And the following year would simply be too late for its supposed 2018 release.

Dream Scenario for Thursday's presentation:
Rockstar games is announced as Switch Partner
Rockstar games announces GTA VI for Switch, and they show a teaser trailer

It depends on how much is really in the lineup from launch until June. I doubt we'll see very much of games beyond a 2017 launch. E3 is only three months out from the system launching so they probably shouldn't blow everything out now. A little glimpse is fine with a promise of more at E3. Prominently showing games that are a year or two out is problematic though.

So apparently Nico Nico's time table says the Presentation is 1 hour long.

But as we know, Nico Nico's time tables are never accurate for this type of things (I remember the Digital Event 2014 Nico Nico said it was gonna be 30 minutes but it actually was 45 minutes.) I think Nico Nico's time tables only works by half hours.

So if anything, it means the Presentation will be LONGER than one hour.

I'm listening to IGN's Nintendo Voice Chat right now and they mentioned that there were only two Nintendo Directs in 2016 (not including franchise specific directs). I really hope that after the Switch is officially announced we will see directs return to a regular schedule again. I get it that Nintendo became a lot more conservative after Iwata's passing, but it would be cool if they returned on an every other month schedule.

Are we in agreement that more Nintendo Directs in 2017 is a must?

The thought of getting news every other month for the one and only Nintendo device is amazing. It sounds too good to be true to me.

An hour and a half is my guess.

I've been saying since the beginning it will be more than an hour. There is way too much info we don't know. This is our first live introduction to Nintendo brand new future console. I don't know why some people keep telling me it would be less than an hour.

They have lots and lots to go over, especially games. I wouldn't be surprised if it's closer to 2 hours than 1 hour.

Also, we've waited to damn long without AAA Nintendo games and Wii U has been dead forever. We are owed a long presentation with lots of games and details, details, details.

Their next game shouldn't take as long as the last one... Takahashi has said many times that it was their first HD project and that they would use the XCX engine as the foundation for future titles. It's already been nearly 2 years since XCX wrapped productions. Not to mention that we've already heard several seemingly credible rumors about this upcoming project... It's likely to be much further along in development than you think.
All I know is that games that are worth a damn are going to take time and sources claiming that Monolith is working on a new game arent saying much.

Last Xeno game was revealed in a random January Direct so I'm personally not going to assume anything.

And if the hardware has a lot of support (which it should) then there shouldnt be such a big need for Nintendo to announce games extremely early to reassure consumers or do some of the other things we saw them do to compensate for the position they were in the last few years.

The slogan possibilities with the name are endless. The person who came up with the idea must have a raise.
What if it was the same guy who came up with the Wii U name lol

Speaking of Bayonetta and Alpha Protocol, what do people expect from SEGA outside of the new Sonic game?

Phantasy Star Online 2 would be a nice surprise. The new Valkyrie Chronicles game would be welcome as well. But we'll probably just get the new Sonic game and an assortment of Virtual Console games.

Hopefully Super Monkey Ball, which was absent on Wii U for whatever reason...

I also hope we get their JRPG line-up like Valkyria Revolution (not buying John Hardin's "claim" that it's not happening), and also hopefully Phantasy Star Online (I think a more offline-friendly version of Phantasy Star Online 2 would actually see the light of day outside Japan), and eventually 7th Dragon 4.

I'm still hurt that Neverland's Shining Force Gear for Wii was canned (it was confirmed to exist), if Neverland was still around, they could've revived that on Switch. :(

Even then, we'll have the day long Treehouse Stream to look forward too and impressions from people playing. An hour long Presentation could be better, but not terrible.

They need to keep something for E3, I bet we don't see atleast a couple of holiday games.

Hell no. They better give me a complete Zelda game on cart. No DLC for single player games like Zelda!
Ehh. They wanted to essentially do this as far back as Ocarina of Time with what we eventually got as Master Quest.
So is Wii U BC just completely out of the question? Plenty of games didn't use the gamepad or had Pro controller modes.
Switch isn't similar enough to run Wii U stuff natively, and not enough of a leap in power for emulation to be feasible.

The more I think about all the possibilities, the more I feel the Switch's library will end up being staggeringly awesome. I can't help but drool.

So my manager at work was finally cool with me taking off the 13th, so I'll drop my daughter off at school at 8:45 then wait for Gamestop to open at 10 while possibly watching the treehouse live stream beforehand.
