That's all I needed. Sample size and who did the poll.
👍👍

Could have been a twitter poll or something with 20 votes for all I knew. :p Especially with the GDC stuff helpfully cut out of the image.

I picked up Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and that free Dirt: Showdown game. I'll look into getting the Ninja Turtles and Amazing Spider-Man next month.

---

I am not sure if Shadow Complex: Remastered is working as it is a code for the Epic Launcher.

I just bought the 12-month subscription to Gamepump, but shouldn't I receive a game already, since the first Friday of the month has already passed?

The game's a hard action shooter, very focused on its base mechanics. That's one of the main problems: there's not much new to see after the first few levels, and since it's pretty though, you don't feel the urge to see what's next after a while, mostly feeling discouraged. The game pretty much remains the same all along, with very minor tweaks here and there, some of which just end up aggravating the player even more (one hit kill samurai, and ninja): the levels are all samey, the objectives also similar and, again, keep making things too difficult (time limits, no hit clauses, etc.) instead of funnier, the playable characters have several notable differences, but so few of them are actually viable if you want to be good at the game. The story is generic and boring, the cut scenes needlessly verbose and lacking any humour (I skipped a good chunk of them, thing which I basically never do in any game ever), the guy you work for is unsufferable; seems like the game tries to be smart and different with its setting and tone, but pretty much fails, ending up just being nonsensical. Problems aside, when all is said and done, while frustrating, the action in the game does work and feel stylish and cool. Hoped for more.

Okay so a few things:
1) You don't retroactively get games from before you bought the service

2) The service launch is delayed probably until March pending some issues--I guess you missed the announcement? https://www.gamepump.com/announcements/

You would have missed the January game, but the first game was delayed at any rate.

Yeah, I missed the announcement. This service had completely flown over my head, so I just saw the subscription page. So it seems like I'm not missing out on anything, seeing that the first game comes out in March. That's nice. It also seems the games will arrive DRM free first which sucks, but hopefully the Steam versions won't be far behind.

There is no chance Mass Effect 3 will come out on Steam right? I just started 1 and it's an amazing game, but feeling kinda sad that I only found 1 and 2 on Steam. :< Wanted to have the complete collection.

It's possible that one day EA will change their digital strategy and start selling games on Steam again, but don't count on it being something that happens anytime soon.

I don't really need a tag, but I figured I'd get one to make people jealous. Is it working?
Dishonored 2 Update – Custom Difficulty and Mission Select

Executing the perfect playthrough in Dishonored 2 is tough enough. Whether you’re going for Clean Hands with Corvo, Ghosting through Karnaca as Emily – or any other permutation – Dishonored 2 will put you to the test. Now, with Game Update 2 (available for free starting next week) , you’ll have even more ways to increase the challenge, improve your odds of success and even replay a mission to try a different tack.

Available first on PC as a Steam Beta on January 18 and released in full on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on January 23, Game Update 2 comes with two major additions: additional Custom Difficulty settings and Mission Restart/Select.

With the Custom Difficulty settings, you can further tailor your experience. Let’s say you’re a stealth player who likes to carefully explore every option… now you can move a slider that adjusts how effective you are leaning from behind a barrier when skulking around. With more than 20 different sliders, these Custom Difficulty settings let you fiddle with everything from how quickly Sleep Darts take effect to how many active enemies are likely to attack you at once.

Also included in the Custom Difficulty settings is a special slider for those seeking the ultimate challenge. Toggle on Iron Mode when starting a new game, and you’ll not only deal with permadeath but also won’t be able to manually save or load. “Iron Mode adds even more teeth to Dishonored 2,” says Lead Designer Dinga Bakaba. “You will have to live with the consequences of your actions, or die permanently because of them.”

Once you download Game Update 2, you’ll also be able to replay any mission you unlock after the update is installed – giving you a better shot at nailing that Ghost or Clean Hands run. Note: these selectable missions will retain the status of your playthrough at the start of that mission (character, chaos, runes, money, choices, etc).

Game Update 2 also includes other new and improved features based on player feedback. Check back soon for detailed notes.

More details on the next Dishonored 2 update. Fingers crossed that last line means performance improvements.

The game is frustrating among the quibbles I have about it but the nonsensical humour of it takes the edge of it. If you think about the game as kinda parody of action games/movies and political satire at the same time, it's a lot more tolerable.

But it is hard as fuck tho, that's for sure.

So, I picked Odallus back up after stopping for a while, and it is a lot of fun. It's like Castlevania, but in 2D. It's kind stage-based-yet-open-world, with multiple paths, and a handful of secrets per stage. Don't think it's a staggeringly large game, but it does what it aims to do quite well. It's been tough-but-fair so far, which is nice.

Only problems with it so far are the obscure methods to progress (secrets aren't really secrets, but required items for progression) and a weird bug where I died right as a boss died, which stopped my character from moving or attacking (while still being able to jump) after reviving in a completely separate area--though thankfully, restarting the game fixed it. And this is more of a personal thing, but I wish it had a map, because keeping the various areas straight is kind of tough, in spite of how visually distinct they are.

Oh and it has cosmetic DLC which strikes me as weird for such a small indie game. They're entirely cosmetic and probably intended as a "support the dev" sort of thing, but I dunno. Still feels weird.
Well then.

But what about Vita TV?! I actually own one...
for you, Persona!

Believe me, I tried. I completed the game (all missions 100% and all three secret levels 100%), but I just couldn't care about anything coming out of Bunnylord's mouth. I think the parody/satire was just too obvious, lacking subtlety. Of course, that's just my taste, I find that humour is very subjective.

You were absolutely correct about how bullshit those one hit samurais are.

I played up until the asian district and got to that level and uninstalled the game after so many tries. The one with the sushi smuggler things? How did you beat it?

EA hasn't released anything new on Steam in years.

Yeah rip, I hate the amount of stores and clients u need to have on PC. Rather keep everything in the same place. Hate to miss out on stuff like the 3rd Mass Effect and Syndicate. D:

If you're opted into the client beta, I'd recommend avoiding the latest release if possible. It's a rare case, but a couple of games that worked fine earlier today no longer boot up, with a Steam API error displaying instead. Castle Crashers and Shantae: Pirate's Curse are the two giving me issues. Tried verifying the games, reinstalling the games, rebooting my PC, playing outside BPM, and disabling the Steam Overlay, but nothing's worked for me so far.

EDIT: They've already sent out a fix, so disregard.

Used Mike for one-hit kills on everyone (samurai too) plus great speed. The limited ammo (only two hits before reloading) is a hindrance, but you get used to it; also that's compensated by knife executions that are quick and don't consume bullets.

Also, lots of patience. Basically, unless there's a timer and you're going for 100%, just play it safe and slow. I just replayed the levels until I knew everything from the top of my head; in fact it took me 9:30 hours to complete everything 100%.

I don't know of any tier lists, however I feel that the best is Mike (and I heard the same by many people): he's my most used character. He's the guy carving his own name.

Samantha (red coat) is my second main, much slower but carrying many more bullets, with bigger range.

Clive (drinking wine) and Cletus (red cap) are also good, the former from afar, the latter at close distance.

Steve (the starter character, reading a newspaper) is pretty balanced. Jesus (pink shirt) can be fun to use, but not that great.

Stanley (the one with the afro) is just too slow. Ronald Justice and Kimmy (the two playing the arcade), the late game characters, are surprisingly some of the worst IMO.

I'll have to re think reinstalling it

You've been playing the wrong Castlevanias.

wait what

Soooo... Castlevania?

EDIT: Really, this is tag deserving.

Lurker's 'avin' a laff, there.

Edit: it's a full moon here. What a horrible night to have a curse.

Yeah, I'm half joking, but I was under the impression that the last 2D Castlevania was in 2010. It turns out that's wrong, the most recent 2D one was released in 2013. (Mirror of Fate) Ah well.

Bloodstained and Odallus are all I'm expecting right now in terms of 2D Castlevania-y games. Konami is mad.

Why?

** Speaking of humble they got their winter sale going now...Oo

The game was a late port from a previous console generation that was included in the $1 tier in a bundle that also included $10 for an extremely popular Early Access game that has yet to be that cheap again months later.

I'm merely speculating that a lot of people bought the higher tier of that bundle then tried Shadow Complex and thought this.

Don't they only use reviews from people who purchased on Steam for that now?

Oh yeah, that's true. In that case, I don't know what happened.

KenOD

a kinder, gentler sort of Scrooge
There was also some, renewed, backlash against Orson Scott Card and anything attached to him like Shadow Complex. Even if it has nothing to do with the game play or content of the tale in story.

Edit Never mind, those reviews were removed. Guess some people just didn't like the game.

Playing through Valdis Story, game can be brutal. Though I can't tell if it's because I suck or if the controls are clunky. I'm thoroughly enjoying myself though. Kinda wish there were more item/equip drops.

Just finishing up a nice little indie game called Talewind. Kind of glad I stumbled on it after doing some searching. The game has some beautiful art. Basically each area consists of two acts and a boss fight and each of the two adventure levels has crystals for beating the area in a set time, collecting a certain number of feathers and a hidden crystal somehwere in the stage. It's not an incredibly tough game but a nice little platformer.

We GOG now.

Well, here is another one of my favourite games of 2000's, i guess i'll have to buy it again since i no longer have a CD with it... I know there are some games like these (i mean, old ones that i wouldn't mind buying) on GOG, but i'm kinda invested in Steam already, and i'd like to have all of my games in one place, if possible.
