My prediction is that on launch day ebay & Co will be flooded. So many people that preorder now will figure they don't need the console on day one just for 1 game and will try to sell their preorder.

Germany prices are always including MwSt, US prices excluding VAT.

Can we stop this BS excuse already? This is first product in long time that doesn't follow the direct dollars to euros conversion. PS4 Pro launched just few months ago with $399 price in US and €399 price in EU. Xbox One and PS4 Slim have also same basic price in US and EU.

In the community section. My advice would be to avoid DeutschGAF.

Will you make it to GC this year?

Thanks!

No, I don't think so :(. The mess in 2015 with letting "normal" people in on the press and media day was infuriating. I'll also be busy with work 24/7.

First gaming console in a while maybe. Tons of other products are more €s than $s.

I preordered mine. In gray, I didn't like the the red and blue.

I'm from South America but I use Amazon Global. I bought my PS4 from Amazon US and my PS4 Pro from Amazon DE.

True.

But man, I thought the 300 dollar pricing was already pretty high. In my mind it translated to 300 euros because of the standards in the gaming market. It is not very unreasonable to assume a 1:1 dollar:euro priceratio given the type of product it is. But for us the target price is basically 350 dollars now, which is very disappointing.

If you take away the taxes, it's actually €277. It's not Nintendo's fault that Germany has VAT.

I end up paying €390 because it's shipped to South America.

The console being region free is perfect for you, there's no much official Nintendo presence in South America, right?

I don't really know, I specifically live in Uruguay and I don't remember seeing Wii U's for sale on stores. But I don't pay much attention because buying locally is too expensive.

The PS4 Pro is being sold at around USD 700 - 800, I paid mine USD 530 on Amazon DE.

It is great that it's unlocked because I buy games from the US (I don't have to pay taxes for games) and Amazon US stopped shipping here the PS4, and didn't ship the Pro, so they are probably not going to ship the Switch.

If it was region locked I would need to wait for someone to travel to the US and bring me one. That's how I was able to buy my PS3 before Amazon Global existed.

Are there two limited editions of Zelda in Europe? The edition that is already up is showing the master sword replica on its side.

This was not for me, but just answering ....

No, I do not expect Nintendo to pay VAT for me. But I also do not expect Nintendo to pass to me as a consumer the impact of exchange rate fluctuations, particularly when they never took this into account when it would have been in favour of consumers paying in euros.

I don't really see why you see it as a particularly bad thing. I would understand the complains if it was a produce getting a price increase (like the PS4 in Canada?) because exchange rates are bad.

But the Switch is a new product. There isn't any law written in stone that says 1€=1$ in consumer electronics. It was like that because the difference between an US price BEFORE taxes and the EU price AFTER taxes was mostly the same.

Which is quite important, as the poster below me in my original post said. The prices shown in the US are before taxes are applied, which isn't the case in the european price.

So the difference is even smaller.

I don't think the difference is important either. But there is a psychological barrier of selling it for 329 vs 299. It is perceived as more significant than it is. Just look at posts in this thread.

Yeah, I agree about that. There is a psychological barrier where you go up to 3XX prices. I haven't thought about that.

While I agree with you that DeutschGAF is a terrible community and should be avoided at all costs, it's not fair to give an advice like that, just because you joined for a day, had an argument with some weirdo and immediately nope'd the hell out of there again!

...hate me...
Anyone from Finland?

I wonder why in Verkkokauppa.com they still keep the placeholder price of 999.99 lol

Even if you can clearly see they have updated the website with today’s stuff (1, 2 Switch), the console name now reflects the color and in pics gallery it shows new media of it.

They don’t even have blue and red version up for preorder.

Good that I have an order secured on amazon.de.

I was thinking about pre-ordering the case, Zelda SE and the Pro Controller too, but then I saw the price. With the console itself, it would be well over 500€ for stuff that doesn't feel like 500€ to me. Man, I'm getting frustrated with this system. I think I'll just stick to the console and decide what to buy software wise when I go to pick it up. I just hope Nintendo will release the Zelda OST separately.

When they grey came back online i ordered that one as well.

Will decide which one to cancel. I think i´ll come to the conclusion that the blue/red will be fun for a day and then look stupid to me.

Also the limited edition Zelda thing. Won´t have to order from france or uk then, which is nice.

I sold it during Christmas time for 220€. Now I'm thinking of selling my 3DS once I finish Picnics 3D 2 and some other smaller titles too.

yeah, i just put up my:

32gig Wii U (premium edition, hence black with charging dock)
+ Wii Sports
+ Skyward Sword
+ Windwaker HD
+ Twilight Princess HD
+ Pikmin 3
+ New Super Mario Bros U
+ NintendoLand

+ 4 Wiimotes (2 of them motion+)
+ 2 Nunchuks

for 329€ ...
No idea if that's too much or too little.

thanks for the link, went ahead and pre-ordered it, because, why not.

I think that's waaaaaaay to little. I sold mine with a Wii (not Wii U) Pro Controller and Animal Crossing amiibo for 220€ as an auction. It was before Christmas though. Sold all my other games separately and made close to 400€ and I still have some stuff I haven't sold yet, like my Wii U Pro Controller and a Wiimote I forgot I had.

Everyone and their mother is going to sell Wii U's during the next 2-3 weeks so it's probably a good idea for him to wait a little longer until supply declines again.

yeah, i prefer to lowball it and just be rid of it.

and 329 is the price of my pre-order, so ...
might bump it to 350 so if the buyer wants to haggle, i'll drop it to 329 :p

He's already put it up, I mean the asking price is too small.

i'll change the price, no biggie, thanks for the input. - it's not on ebay or anything, but the Austrian Craigslist equivalent, so changing the price isn't an issue and putting it up is free.

don't wanna maximize profits but rather be rid of everything Wii U and have it pay for my Switch. If i had known someone with kids at the proper age, i'd just have given them the thing for free, but all my nieces / nephews are below 3 years old.

Those companies choose to make less money on European consoles because they think if they don't it will affect their sales numbers, Nintendo has obviously priced the Switch to the point they can't afford earning less money from European consoles.

Ordered Switch in grey and Zelda and Mario Kart. Portable open world Zelda is awesome.

I wish they would Elder Scrolls Oblivion instead Skyrim..
