I'm fine with no Street Pass, but no Miiverse? That's a real bummer. Splatoon hub wouldn't have been the same without it, and sometimes you would find some great comments in other games, like SM3DW, as well.

I'll miss it.

It should have streetpass like features. Getting rid of that makes no sense considering gaming on the go is the angle here. It makes the Switch even less interesting.

I imagine it was a cut to preserve battery life.

So I guess they really are unloading everything on mobile. Wonder if they'll add more functionality to Miitomo then to incorporate some of this, including being able to use your Miitomo Mii with your Nintendo Account.

Kinda cool that they can remove all that overhead from the OS to streamline the system itself.

Yeah, I never really got that feature or anything like it going all the way back to sharing achievements on Facebook and Twitter on 360. Most of my friends don't give a shit. Keep that all contained to console feeds/communities.

Hugely disappointed about the lack of Streetpass and the lack of information about a possible replacement definitely one of my favourite 3DS features. I guess my 3DS use will live on, at least for another year or two.

This was a given, they are tied to Nintendo IDs and not Nintendo Accounts which Nintnedo is trying to push with DeNa. Miiverse was awesome for the first year but i have not really messed with it since. We also already know they are working on a replacement feature from the mobile press conference.

Miiverse is a real loss. Streetpass was cool, and all the stuff that came out of that. But Miiverse was genuinely interesting as a concept and actually really helpful in some cases.

Doing the photo hunt in Wind Waker was made infinitely easier with everyone sharing pictures and sending them in bottles to one another.

Miiverse was a good idea, I didn't get really invested in it but it was neat and I used it casually a bit just to share screenshots and to give tips to other people. RIP Miiverse

I kind of hope this is just an indicator that they're not done with the 3ds, and they're just aiming the two consoles at slightly different crowds, albeit with a heavy amount of unification and crossover. I'd hate for the plan to be to get rid of the 3ds and some of their more novel social concepts.
