This thread needs some nice asses, so I'll start with mine:

I see a lot of mentions of the X5 around here - inside joke?

I just sold my stickshift '07 335i. A great weight has been lifted from my shoulders. Driving it was a blast though....

Does anyone have thoughts on the new X1?

Just from an aesthetics point of view, I like the X1 the most out of BMW's SUV lineup. It has proportions that make it look more like a beefed-up hatchback than a SUV.

So guys, if you had a 30k euro budget what car would you buy to track? I found a 2014 Camaro SS 1LE for 26k euros only 15k kilometers.

http://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/d...delVariant1.modelDescription=1le&pageNumber=1

You can remove some seats and padding here and there and drop the weight otherwise the car is a great performer. Some track pads, steel brake lines and better brake fluid to take care of the brakes not fading as much would do well. KW or something else for suspension and that's it. Maybe put wider wheels and tires, some aero bits to help with downfore and it's a winner.

Edit: And remove the horrible mods the previews owner put

Not a bad choice. For a track car, I'd like to try something small and lightweight like a Miata or one of the 86 twins. Cheaper running costs too I'd imagine.

Not bad, but I like the new Panamera's spoiler deployment better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hvp8fi1GXqU

Always wanted a 240 but I couldn't find one close to me that hadn't been modified. Nice cars everybody ^_^

If you buy a modified one, some of the work is already done hopefully.

Though mine was a complete pile of garbage when I bought it. I knew it was going to be a track car, so I didn't want to ruin a car that was already nice.

How's the E92 M3? Should I look into adding one to my stable? Finally sold my B5 S4 today. Thinking about snagging a 335i/135i as a daily beater but not sure if there's anything else I should look at.

I have one myself. The big issues with the E92 M3s is the rod bearings going bad. If you don't do the work your self, you're looking at 3k to 4k for parts and labor to fix the issue. A lot of E92 owners replace the bearings as a preventative maintenance.

The other issues are the idle control valve going bad. During idle, the car would go below 500 rpm and die. I'm currently experience this problem on and off. Fixing it will probably cost me 1 to 2k.

Finally, The throttle actuators can go bad too. 1k for parts and about 2k for labor. Those are the three main problems on the S65 engine.

All the issues aside, I enjoy driving the hell out of the car. My commute to work is very enjoyable and I look forward to driving it when I go home.

The GT86 is too underpowered and doesn't satisfy my needs. It has way thinner tires, smaller brakes and I think it would need more care if tracked. The Miata is a convertible and I hate convertibles. I live an hour and a half away from Monza which is a very fast track so the Miata and GT86 would feel like snails on that track. The Camaro seems like a better candidate to me. The LS engine is also bulletproof.

Almost all were made into Drift cars and abused to hell by the owner. Didn't want to deal with that. I only found one that wasn't extensively modified but it was an automatic and I didn't want that. Back then I didn't think if tracking nor modifying other than some cosmetic mods.

that's a pink sock.

Had to google this, now I'm upset. :(

Edit: And actually it's pretty easy, only problem was that the arm on the clutch fork shaft was frozen solid and couldn't be removed, so I had to disassemble a lot of stuff and cut the helper spring (fucker) so that it could rotate enough to let the engine back off the trans.

Oh, is that a bright yellow 944 I see next to it?

Yep! That's my Spec 944 race car, which I've only tracked and never raced. :/

I move around too much for work and I've always ended up in places that don't even run Spec 944. I figure I'm going to run it at LeMons once for fun (and be deducted 300 laps I'm sure) and then sell it. Eh maybe I'll just sell without risking a LeMons run damaging something.

TLooks like progress! Are you going to be doing all the work yourself?

Nope! Just engine removal and ancillary disassembly. Once it gets down to the heads I'm going to turn it over to a professional for break down, head stud swap and rebuild. I'm sure I could do it, but the chances of me messing up the timing are too big (dial indicators are used on the cams fuuuuuck that) and for the long-term life of the engine it'll be better off in the hands of a professional. It has to look like this to replace the studs.

Ain't nobody got time for that. Plus I'm sure there will be plenty of things they'll notice that need repair/replaced that I wouldn't be aware of. The whole intake/fuel injection system I'll be going through myself though.

I see. Can't blame you there, I'd do the same thing. Props to you for taking it that far yourself

What a coincidence. One of my old high school buddies works there.

It's actually where we got the X5. They had an M4 GTS when I was in for service a little while back. It was already sold. Customer just hadn't come to pick it up.

The detail shop that did all the work to my car also worked on 2 GTS recently. Even after all the shit those cars have gotten in reviews, I'd still like to take one out to see how it compares to the standard car.

There are tons and tons of them for sale on AutoTrader all across the country. Of the 300 they will make for US, very few have sold thus far as there are close to 60 still waiting for an owner (there are still 200 or so waiting to be produced). That's crazy to me. And it's insane how many dealerships are trying to markup to $200,000!! Meanwhile others are reducing, and others are at MSRP.

I did a double take, because with all of those lines and angles up front, it almost looks fake. But nope. Totally real.

And just today I saw my first Shelby GT350 in action, and the sound it made down a straight was absolutely amazing. And it looks beautiful too. This basic Mustang is ugly as dog shit. What an awful update.

Anybody notice on the Mustang the weird line that runs at the bottom of the headlight for the amber strip? Before it used to be one solid straight headlight, now it looks like the amber has some weird protruding line?

Wtf is that?

Also, to contribute:

Idk why, but it looks like a Need for Speed camera angle and with the lighting to match.

They don't share bumpers with Mustangs, their fronts are completely different. They most likely won't get any facelifts.

Yeah the GT350 is wider, you cant put a GT350 bumper on a normal Mustang I know. I still think they will redesign the GT350 for a facelift and while the bumper might have a chance at being ok, those horrible headlights cannot be different for the facelifted GT350.

My ass is too dirty to take a picture of

What kind of dirty are we talking about?

Real filthy mess or the fun kind of dirty?

If it's the second one, I'm sure we won't mind haha.

Honestly I'm more concerned about the neon green tires.

Radiation filled tires + a Cars and Coffee crowd... that's a recipe for a radioactive disaster.

Idk about the other guy, but mine is "its been fluctuating below and over freezing" dirty. The color does a real good job hiding it though
