80s style synth-pop/electro synth/cyberpunk music

Dumb question time...is GosT pronounced "ghost" or "gost" (rhyming with cost)?

It look me long enough to realise Perturbator rhymes with masturbator...

It is ghost, I explained this to like 4 people last night.

Andy did an interview with him on his podcast where they talk about it. (Beyond Synth)

Oh, Gost killed it last night! So much energy, place was packed with hardcore metal folks.
Perturbator was great as well.

I've always pronounced Perturbator like the Latin perturbatus. But I guess I'm a little biased there.

Hi there, North America

My backline got stolen from the van in SF.

We're all ok but unfortunately all the gear is gone. We won't cancel any of the upcoming dates (Chicago, NY, Montreal, Boston), and will try our best to provide a good show no matter what.
If anyone in these cities happen to own, or know someone who owns a Prophet 6 synth and a moog sub 37, and is willing to let me borrow it for the show, please send me a message. That would be extremely kind. Show must go on.

U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

WTF. Really? Stealing? Fuck people man
Happens so often here with touring bands, it's extremely frustrating. Sad thing is it's so commonplace you basically need to assume someone is going to try to break in and plan accordingly at all times where you're leaving your vehicle

Fucking awful. I feel so bad for him, first US tour too. Pelican and Sleep had their gear stolen a while back too. Shit's irreplaceable, ugh.

I went to the SF show and found GoST to be boring as fuck, which is a shame because I love his albums. I saw GoST last year at the same venue, but in the smaller room. Same experience. Perturbator didn't have much to go on either, but for some reason it felt more energetic because of how hard his music hits. Both of them lacked any kind of visuals that would have helped them a lot. I was blown away a few months ago at the same venue to see Carpenter Brut with a live band, projection visual imagery, and coordinated lighting.

Carpenter Brut - Trilogy vinyl, third repress goes out January 18th, 6pm CET.

Dark gods I hope it was printed in decent numbers this time christ on a cupcake.

Edit: Via Twitter, 500 each of two variants for a total of 1000..... I'm comfortable calling that false scarcity and I highly detest the practice. Bunch of ___s.

I dunno, 1000 copies is quite a big order. He is still a small niche artist.
Over 1400 people liked his news item about the repress on Facebook within seventy two hours of it posting and I'm pretty sure it will sell out in thirty minutes like the last time around.

3000 would be a bit more appropriate and last maybe what, three months on the shelves at the most?

Could be that he's got a separate batch for his tour, too. That would be a smart thing to do...

Hi everyone, just a short message to let everyone know that everything is sorted ! Thanks to you all, we got our problem almost completely solved in less than 24 hours and will be able to have the gear in every cities.

You people are phenomenal and I really cannot express how grateful i am to all of you who helped out, sent messages, shared the post and gave your support. That is amazing :) Thank you so much, to everyone.

I'll go into details later if necessary, just a little info now to make things a bit clear : The actual theft didn't happen in the street but in the private parking of our hotel, filled with cameras and next to a security guard.

To all my SF fans, keep looking at pawn shops if you can. This case is currently under investigation with SF's police authorities

Chicago, see you tonight !

Glad to hear he worked it out. Stoked for tonight

Show was great. The booking company behind the show went all out for the lights setup, made a huge difference. They brought in these 3 huge light tower things onto the stage, was awesome.

first 3 minutes of set

I could totally see it not being as exciting without those lights though. Love the music but without any visuals it really is just slightly different versions of the studio stuff. Thought it was cool that he played a couple of the solo/lead parts in songs but majority of it is just occasional chord/single note holds

Also minor gripe: Technoir is one of my favorites, especially because of the transition into the heavier beat, and he basically spliced it so once one song ended it went directly into the heavier beat. So it was like the second half of the song only

How about something a little different for once:

Kælan Mikla

Synth-punk with great energy, dark but vocals might not be for everyone, great synths, though

I've been listening to this for the past few days, I really like it

Recommended tracks:

Líflát
Kalt and
Óráð

Hope you enjoy it

I will admit, my synth playlist is lacking in Icelandic darkwave punkpoetry.

Can anyone here recommend any good Spotify playlists? I've listened to plenty of Perturbator, Power Glove and College, but I'd like to spread the net a bit wider...
