Didn't vote on AOTY, but can safely say its definitely simultaneously the best and worst list ever compiled by this forum.

Gotta admit that Birds In The Trap is probably my guilty pleasure album of 2016; the production on some tracks, catchy hooks and simple flows pull me back again and again

Someone ready to share something shameful as well or nah

I not only love Nav, but fuck HEAVILY with every random Toronto Nav knockoff.

Also Views would have been in my top 10.

I won't lie, Birds in the Trap was the McDonalds album of 2016 for me. Sometimes you just need a little bit of garbage in your system to remember that you're alive.

Yo, Rozay's Black Dollar tape is still really dope. Bumped it again the other day. Loved it when it came out. He's a great rapper actually when he's on big, soulful beats and not on boring-ass 2010 Lex Luther-type ones.

I don't think you could call it a guilty pleasure, it's decent. Something like Views could be called one. I'm struggling to think of anything else, tbh. I guess Cole? Not sure if it's GAF-Hop hyperbole when it comes to him, though. Only listened to his new one once. Wasn't that bad.

Lol.

I'm tolerant and all, but I'm not gonna lie: I will look different at you if you loved Views. Probably #1 on Hitta's list.

I don't know why you guys just don't admit that both Birds and Views were two of the best projects of 2016.

Just because I go on Youtube to rewatch the warehouse scene from Batman v Superman from time to time doesn't mean I'm gonna call it one of the best movies of 2016.

A couple of interesting questions I've seen on Twitter that I wanna ask y'all:

Nelly or Drake?

Who killed 50's career: Kanye or Ross?

Didn't care for nelly past nellyville lol. Country grammar was played by plenty of people tho.

Obviously Drake tbh.

And Kanye (I guess?)

Also did you get this off KTT? Lol.

Yea Hamilton is dope. But I enjoy musicals in general.

Musicals and operas are the worst form of art in human history. I want to check out La La Land, though, as I've heard from people whose opinions I value and who hate musicals too that it's good and not as cheesy as you'd expect.

Those people lied to you.

La la land is dope tho.

I think the South + the rise of rappers like Drake + soundcloud rappers killed 50's career. Not really killed, but contributing to the current lull in his solo efforts.

Nobody really remembers the Kanye thing, and Ross is a CO, and was never seriously challenging 50's status even when Teflon Don dropped.

If it's between those two, Ross. He got exposed and ended up making the best records of his career, so no one cared.

You could make an argument for Cam'ron. Cam didn't really have any scathing lines or songs, but after that Curtis album 50 just continued to stagnate, eventually winding up cluelessly following trends until he wound up doing shit like this and faded into irrelevancy. 50 really ended his own career by refusing to do anything interesting though. Kinda explains why his Dr Mephesto clone, Troy Ave, saw his career died at the starting line

I'm just joshing, but yeah I find most of the singing in Opera to be......unfocused and drawn out. I love Classical music, but Classical singing I could give or take.
Maybe I was using the wrong term. I don't mean those classical, orchestral-only operas like Wagner's stuff, which are dope, but rather ballad operas (or arias?).

Beats me, I don't really like Operate so I can't tell ya.

Anyway, I'm really starting to like Blowout Comb. Find myself going to it a lot these days.

Heard a lot of praise for that album in here. Checked it out last year or so, but I don't remember much anymore. Might relisten tomorrow.

What do people think of Hamilton here?

Dope. It sounds like nerd rap and epic rap battles of history at points, but the execution is so high that I don't even care. Catchy as hell, and the way the Hamilton/Burr storylines are intertwined and carry through to the ending is great.

I thought a Final Fantasy fan like you would appreciate something that is 90% cheese.

Pretty much what I got from it via the handful of snippets I saw. What it seems to lack in swagger it makes up for in passionate performances.

Is there a way to see it outside via live performance?

Only stage right now. They filmed it with the original cast right before people started leaving, but that recording ain't leaving the vaults for a long, long time. Best you can do outside of getting some tickets is listening to the album.

50 killed his own career due to some of the worst diminishing returns in music. He never grew as an artist and kept trying to make the same records, especially radio wise. People tuned out. He's also very tone deaf musically.

He's closer to DMX than Jay-Z/Nas in terms of longevity or relevance.

Didn't he did change with massacre and people were turned off? He did try other stuff and it didnt help, it made things worse.

The burr song is the best in the soundtrack imo. Very good rnb sound to his voice

I wish they filmed it for dvd or something but no chance in hell of that happening any time soon

Yup. 50s fall was his own doing, and it happened really fast.
