Canadian Gaming Deals & Discussion 8: Don't Move Here For The Deals

Yeah I've stopped trying and refuse to buy it at this point.

When they do their next big restock I hope the thing rots on the shelves beside the animal crossing amiibos.

They truly and royally messed up the NES Classic Edition launch. It is even worse than amiibo or the Majora's Mask New 3DS XL.

At least more amiibo waves were being released monthly and other New 3DS XLs were being released as well (Monster Hunter, Regular, etc.)

With the NES Classic Edition we are on the third month without any substantial restock.

Gonna round up my trade-ins today, not gonna list values for games I've seen on the list though unless they changed since then. These are after double the value.

Wii U
Kirby Rainbow Curse - $28

3DS
M&L Paper Jam - $30
Miku Project Mirai DX - $26
Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold - $26
7th Dragon III - $32

I've now got my Switch and Zelda paid off. Anything else I'm interested is Splatoon so I'm waiting for that to go up.

Fuck off, Source. Fucking Source. Go bankrupt already. Shitty fucking system that says it's not in stock, yet it says it is. Folks refreshing hard got in, I've been trying since the minute it came up and nothing. Fucking Source.

Most of all, FUCK OFF, NINTENDO. I haven't raged this much over a fucking company as much as I am raging over Nintendo. FUCK YOU, NINTENDO.

It's owned by Bell. No bankruptcy in their future.

To those of you still doing trade-ins, how do you proceed since it looks like EB is all out of Switch allocation? Use the credit toward games and accessories?

Damn, Switch pre-orders already going up to 700 CDN on eBay...

Are you even allowed to sell a pre-order on eBay? Was this the same for the WiiU?

huh... maybe I should be as much of an asshole as Nintendo is and sell my Switch pre-order since i'm probably going to cancel it anyway, or sell it day 1

Speaking of the NES Classic, did anyone buy a third party controller for it?

Doesn't seem like the official controller will ever be stocked again, and I need to buy an extension cable anyway.

So much for Switch being dead in Canada! lol

Pretty sure there will be plenty of stock by the time MK8 Deluxe comes out in April though.

My Fate/Extella LE hasn't shipped yet.

It sure is fun to pay a yearly fee for a service that can't fucking ship things on time.

And it's listed as "in stock" on the product page!

Oh shit, Walmart has NES Classic in stock- and it's gone...

:/

:/

I can't keep refreshing these pages, man. I just... Can't. Everytime I've looked away today, it goes on sale and then goes away. :/

Amazon often have delays with LE's for some reason.

Also: This is the first shipping talk of the year AFAIK so you should win something... I guess.

You are allowed to sell pre-orders but they are supposed to be within 30 days of release.

Interesting concept, if you wanted to, you could competitively price it at an extra $100-150. Make profit...but I don't think the console should be that hard to find at launch.

Ps4 had a huge launch and I walked into the store on launch day and bought one without pre order.

What games' Switch version will be a direct upgrade over WiiU? I am talking already released WiiU games that will get a remaster on Switch. I can only think of MK8 as it will have all the DLCs and you will be able to play splitscreen just like the WiiU version. Will there be anything that WiiU version will be better at?

Any reason to keep MK8 WiiU?

Splatoon 2 is a sequel.

Free online or if you're a collector.

Well, it didn't go as expected but I was able to change the version of Breath of the Wild to the Switch and have the E3 discount applied without an issue.

What didn't go as expected? Did they do anything to your botw order?

They said that, due to the price difference, I would have to place a new order and then they'd apply the discount to it rather than simply swapping the versions on the original order. I'm not complaining, just a bit unexpected is all.

A little late to this but are we expecting any Canadian stores to get the BOTW Special addition? I can't see it available to pre-order on any Canadian site.

Not really interested in the Master Edition.

Man I've tried this a few times, even suggesting doing it like that, and they say they don't have the power to do so. Can't tell if I'm being bullshitted, or bad luck in maybe getting lower-level reps who actually can't. Or both.

Did they remove 30% difference or did they add a 30% discount?

They added the discount to the new order once it was created.

I guess that's good enough except that you'll pay $80 instead of $65 plus the 30% off. At least if it goes down in price you'll be able to get the lowered price plus 30% off.

Is it just me, or has the Canadian price of the Zelda Special Edition on Target.com risen a little bit since the link went up? I could be completely mistaken, but I feel like it was $132 or something a couple days ago.

I'm probably just misremembering.

All according to plan

I just went to EB at Fairview mall - I have enough games to get a switch for free. I was turned away because they aren't taking any trades without a preorder - and they are all out of preorders. What should I do now GAF?

Edit: I noticed a poster above said put it towards games and accessories. I was told by the rep that the promotion is only applicable towards Switch preorders - meaning since they are sold out I am stuck with $450 worth of trade ins

Trade towards games and accessories, so you can at least get those for free. Or you can trade towards games you don't want, and then cancel those orders and put the credit towards a Switch when they're in stock

The trade in deal towards the console was a bit of a ruse, since most locations were out of preorders so quickly. Most of us have been getting games, controllers, cases, etc.

The Wii U $150 trade in is the only one specific to the console. The double trade in value is towards all switch games and accessories.

Edit: I traded ~200 TIV worth of games towards accessories, hoping to either put towards a switch or just straight up change to other games for another system. Hoping more pre-order allotments come so I can trade in my Wii U. In the mean time trying to sell it on Kijiji for $200. Not really sold on the Switch, it was just this deal that made me want to take advantage of it because I would essentially get it for nothing. The Wii U was literally sitting in a rubbermaid container collecting dust, and I initially got that system with Optimum points.

Thanks just did this. Hopefully there will be no issues with using the credit towards the switch when they get new stock/more preorders

I hate you all, I decided I was going to keep my Wii U and games. But with all this talk of trade-in's.... the temptation to ditch it all is pretty strong lol
