Nioh Last Chance Trial Thread: It's your last chance, seriously.

You sure Tachibana doesn't lose stamina when he dodges? Just fought him and couldn't help but notice a ting of his ki drop at every dodge.

I mean yeah, if that's true it's nowhere near as much as the our ki-pulsin' player character but I just want to be sure.

I beat Tachibana! ☺️ ...I was level 23 though and I had the Nami-oyogi Kanemitsu that I picked up from a revenant so the battle went really smoothly.

I'm not seeing the Ogress mask pop up as reward for me. The game prompted me to download the Mark of the Conqueror and the Mark of the Strong rewards after I cleared the first mission but I've now cleared the Tachibana fight too and I'm still not getting any prompts for the Ogress Mask. PSN Asia store btw.

You have to learn it in the skill tree for the appropriate weapon.

You have to unlock it. Its mid stance only I believe.

You can parry if you buy the skill for it. There is one with R1 + Square and one with R1 + Triangle.

he can dodge without stamina
has infinite elec talismans
his pikadog isn't on a god damn timer AND changes behaviour according to tachi's hp

select home base on the map
select dojo
play advanced tutorial

WHY the game doesn't suggest doing the advanced tutorial as soon as you complete the basic one, i'll never know.

There are two tutorials. Select Dojo from the Starting Point on the map and you should see another. It goes over more things. (Though not skills or magic)

Actually there is a tutorial for it.

I'm betting most of you guys didn't check the dojo after you're done with the first one but there is a second tutorial lesson which teaches you range weapons, using items, and the living weapons.

You also get the wooden axe.

Wow, did not know any of this lol. Thanks, will check out the advanced tutorial!

I'll give Team ninja credit, they have definitely captured the souls feeling and made it better, harder, and 60fps.

Praise the sun? Lol

Sometimes, when he completely depletes his stamina and you are able to crush his guard, he will do enough dodges to get out of your reach.

Thats a rule that is surely not applied to the player, and that's why some people call the fight bullshit. I mean, it's a boss lol.

He does. Just have to back away when he does it. I dislike when I lose stamina and stagger and he says "I got you" Argh..

Just beat it in one sitting and took me about 3 hours.

bird man took me 2 tries

Ogress 4 tries

munishige(lighting asshole) 14 tries

character at level 13

seriously just listen to TFS Piccolo's advice and dodge like a motherfucker with muni, he'll use up all of his stamina quickly then bully him up close and back away.

rinse and repeat

Depleting his stamina was my key tactic to defeating Muneshige since Low stance plus dual Katana means I wouldn't be able to do much damage to him upfront.

Force his AI to be overly aggressive, don't let him replenish.

Keep a "3 swing" distance between each other.

The key to defeat Tachibana was, while stunned, hit him 2x for the knock down and then proceed to impale him.

During my first 20 tries I didn't know he could be knocked down and I kept impaling him while he was standing, that alone does MUCH less damage and made the fight last much longer than it needed.

With everything figured out, it was just a matter of not fucking up my reactions. The fight is not bullshit if you know the rules, and after 30,40,50 tries, you'd better know them.

I have a feeling that the dexterity required by this game will be the death of me, but I really enjoyed the first mission although I probably died like 50 times before clearing the whole level.

How far does the loot hunt go in this game? The equipment system definitely reminds me of Diablo.

Farming revenants is gonna be a thing, hell the one i killed dropped better gear than the boss it came from.

Does anyone know if Tachibana Muneshige drops his sword in purple rank? i have all his armor in that color.

No idea, someone in beta got to 103.

He does, its just a 5% drop chance on purples, found his gloves were the hardest to acquire at 15 attempts.

And for those having trouble with tachibana...

Saw this on reddit, that is nuts.

Yeah he does. He also drops the recipe for crafting all his armor and all his weapons.

How do I leave the duel with this guy? I'm barely scratching him as is. I went to the title screen and it just out me right back here. Am I stuck until I beat him?

Also I don't understand his stamina. He depletes it and just keeps going like he has infinite Stam. Even when I go to hit he just dodges indefinitely.

I finally beat Tengu last night.

But now I'm throwing my head into the wall that is the Ogress. That damn beserker barrage kills me 90% of the time.

I'm not going to give up, though.

Roll into her as soon as you hear her scream. All the swings go over your head and you can attack her for free.

You can safely avoid all that barrage as long as you keep dodging to the left. If you're still stuck, go ahead and summon a friend.

It gives you a message that it will be available in bounties section at shrine when full game releases. Don't have to download anything. It's easy to miss the message that's probably what happened.

I thought Tachibana was a bitch at 1st but after learning his patterns and spacing he got I wouldn't say easy but much easier at lvl 10. I focused more on trying to bait him in to attacks that I would dodge til his ki was low then hit him to stun lock. Alot of dodging and counters. If I went offensive on him he destroyed me no matter what I did. I enjoyed the fight. It does seem like some bs at 1st but once you learn all he's got for you he doesn't do anything cheap. Maybe that forward slash that he somehow can spam like 3 or 4 times in a row sometimes is bs but other than that didn't have any other bs moves in my opinion.

This game is great. It takes me back to the mid 2000s in terms of feel. This seems like it would've been a classic PS2/Xbox game, and I don't mean that in a bad way. It's very focused.

Completed the full demo today. Tachibana proved difficult yet fair. Ended up being more efficient using a katana on him rather than a spear then it was simply dodging him, wacking him until his stamina goes down, and grab attack. Definitely wouldn't mind seeing more of these kind of fights with human bosses.

Went through the twilight and defeated Ogress on the first attempt. Feels good.

I'm still torn on whether I should focus on using a spear or katana. The spear has the cool monkey jump skill, but the attack for it has been fairly useless so far. But I can't go wrong with that high stance range.

Just beat the Ogress, by far the easiest of the three bosses. I already have the first two DLC, but I didn't get a prompt to download anything for completing this one.

Did I miss something?

Ahh, I remember seeing this but does that mean I have to keep the trail save data? Can I delete the demo after and keep the save?

Oh no. I was getting wrecked at lvl 13. There was no way I was beating him at lvl 10 haha.

Update on the Mark of the Conqueror issue:

https://mobile.twitter.com/PlayStation/status/823051027641290753

"#Nioh trial update: After defeating the Ogress boss, choose "The Mark of the Strong." The other option will be made available after launch "

I'm not sure what they mean by it being available at launch, unless the DLC option from the demo carries over to the final game, meaning you can always download it then and doesn't need to be done during the limited demo. I guess as long as you've unlocked the option, that's all you need.

Edit: Beaten like those who ventured into the water.

Mansies, the difficulty on this last level is pretty low. Outside of the
boulder
, I haven't even come close to dying. The Yokai aren't even a threat anymore.

I'm getting used to the game for sure, but it feels nerfed.

...? This boss is junk. I accidentally went in @ yellow weight %, and still almost one shotted while barely paying attention. It's just a damage sponge while you wait for stamina recharge. The
bird Yokai
was harder than her.

Okay, tips for twilight ogress?

I dodge to her left and stick to her( hell i dodge to the left for every boss in this final demo lol) When she jumps i try to do at least two rolls away from her just to be safe.

I don't understand. Did I screw up now because I didn't choose the Mark of the Strong?

It can't be downloaded for a large majority of people that's all. If you completed the demo restart the game and you'll see download options.

Okay, tips for twilight ogress?

Stay as close to her as you can. Dodge to the sides of her try to get behind her. Wait til shes in air for a second before dodging her drop attack. When she goes all crazy with her claws get either far back away which is hardest to do if you're staying close to her or dodge towards her or far enough to the side. Best bet is to be close and dodge towards her. That crazy claw attack and one she jumps just a little and swipes wide a couple times quick are attacks you gotta get down others are pretty simple.

The comments in the very video you linked state that it's a controller issue, so no need to not buy the game, just get a new controller.

edit: seems like you edited your post out

hahaha, this is why i quickly edited my post. i haven't had a chance to try my other controller out. the thing is that my controllers work fine in every other game i own. i don't know if this game is worth shelling out $50 on a new ds4 to play. it seems like it may be a controller "issue" but i don't have this issue in any other i play.. which makes it more of a Nioh issue, unfortunately for me.

just to follow up on this: i tried playing with my second controller and it's even more jittery/janky in the movement than with the controller i first tried it on. i realize it isn't affecting many people, but something fucked up is going on here. shame.. glad they at least put out some demos so i could avoid spending the $60 on a game that for some reason doesn't work with my PS4 controllers.

Nah, if you have the mark of the strong your good.

You get reacquire it from the title screen by pressing square if you skipped it after the mission. By the sounds of it they are going to treat it like the alpha and beta, if you have the save game you'll be able to access it.

Wow really? I got it on my first try and the Twilight level was pretty much cake because of it, especially after upgrading its level with other weapons. All my luck wasted on the demo!

Unlocked my mask with the chain sickle super fun weapon although it goes against my playstyle of keeping distance and playing war of attrition and patience(basically noob spear is my friend).
With the chain sickle it seems you want to go close commit hard then dodge out for the next round.

FINALLY.

I finally got her.

Sweet Christmas.

I think I'm gonna get it? I don't know. I had some fun, though.

I might try the other missions before the trial is over.

I don't understand. Did I screw up now because I didn't choose the Mark of the Strong?

No you should be ok. The one I think is coming up this is not available on the ps store. I tried to get that 1st and it said not available but other worked fine. It did give me a msg in game after it didn't work when I backed out of store that said it will be available to retrieve when full game releases.

Is there a clipping issue with Ogress? You can pretty much hide under her skirt for the entire fight and all you have to care about is the flail and the dive, everything else misses by a mile.

Yes you can delete demo but make sure you keep your save file.
