DeVos passing would fuck Republicans hard. Anecdotal, but a lot of my family is hardline Republican but they care a TON about education. If DeVos pulled her shit over the next four years, that alone would go a long way toward getting them to consider voting Democrat for the first time in years (if ever).
supermajority voted yes, so a lot of Dems voted for confirmation.

In my experience, the vast majority of teachers are left-leaning and the Republicans have a history of de-emphasizing education, so I don't think they're too worried about how that will look.

The investigation is a joint task force, of which the CIA is only a part. He can not stop that task force (maybe pull the CIA out of it, which as some have said would look odd and raise red flags). Also, if evidence of wrong doing is found, the CIA would not be the group to bring about charges, that would be the FBI or Justice Department.
I am not at all worried about the investigation with him at the head of the CIA. Even if he could stop it, the Senate is also doing their own investigation,which he also could not stop.
In short: There is no need to freak out about his appointment and the investigation.

They never do. A lot of those Dem politicians on the hill have no spine and think "working together" will earn them brownie points with independents. It won't and never has. It just demoralizes actual Democrats when the people they voted for just crumble.

A lot of my family is hard line R too, they are also educators who are against Devos. Regardless of all that, guess which party they will vote for in 2018? What I'm saying is don't kid yourself, they will forget/forgive all that in two years.
