Note that the store you download the game from determines the server. The game is out in a lot of countries, but it seems to be a rollout, as some Android stores don't have the download avaialble yet.

Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag is a F2P iOS/Android gacha game featuring an action combat system with parrying, blocking, and free movement. The storyline follows the anime and features all the characters from the 'beloved' series. The game has no energy/stamina system and thus the player is free to play whenever they want.

The gacha mechanic is for both characters and weapons.

Below are some useful quotes and links.

Reroll Guide:

Unrooted device

1) Download the game
2) Do the tutorial up to quest 2-2
3) Complete the daily where you talk in town. Click the message icon and say anything.
4) Go to mission and get the fragments there. Also go to presents and get a fragment from quest 2-2.
5) Do the 25 roll. If for some reason you don't get 25 fragments, do quest 2-3. If you fail the roll, clear the data from the app

Rooted device

1) Download the game
2) Open game and put in your username
3) Do up to quest 2-2.
4) Complete the daily where you talk in town. Click the message icon and say anything.
5) Go to mission and get the fragments there. Also go to presents and get a fragment from quest 2-2.
6) Do the 25 roll. If for some reason you don't get 25 fragments, do quest 2-3. If you fail go to step 7
7) Delete /data/data/com.bandainamcoent.saomd/files/memories and /data/data/com.bandainamcoent.saomd/shared_prefs
8) Open app again and repeat step 2 until you get the roll.

General advice is to roll for a 4* character then continue to play. Top tier beginner units are 4* Yuuki and 4* Silica.

...still rerolling on the us Server. Maybe you should edit it in that there are different Servers, the US might not be enough.

I know she's C tier but I wish I'd kept My 4* GGO Sinon. Game is a lot of fun once you get past the rerolling and the MP adds a very cool layer to the game.

Nice! Glad we got an OT now.

It's really jarring (not in a bad way) for their not to be a stamina mechanic in this game.

The menu and gameplay is all so smooth.

Most fun I've ever had in a gacha game due to the gameplay. Gonna need to play it more to see how the 'meta' shakes out, of course.

Not gonna lie, if you're on iOS, rerolling sucks. It needs to redownload the game every time, and can take 15 minutes.

That said, I just stopped caring. The launch event gives you a good beginner unit (Nightgown Asuna, very similar to Ariana in FFBE, she's fully geared and good to go) and I'm using her even over my mid tiered 4* I pulled because she's simply better.

Also the lack of an energy system is a massive boon. I can play when I want for as long as I want.

Still rolling, rolling, rolling for Silica.

I'm pretty confident that the tutorial pick has some heavy weighting (if not an outright limited pool) at this point. Supposedly you can get a 4* from it, though I haven't seen one. What I have seen is a shit ton of the main character 3*s, and absolutely none of the less important 3*s that are on the main gacha list. Kirito, Asuna, Lisbeth, Silica, Sinon, Leafa, Klein and I think I got some Yuukis earlier. The rest won't show up much, if any.

You can definitely get 4*'s from the initial pull, I've done it and there were other people in the general mobage thread who did as well.

Dupes in this seem pretty bad, got 2 "Holy hacking crystals" for getting a dupe 3*, not sure how rare they are but it doesnt seem great considering you need 50 of them for the initial limit break.

Couldnt resist blowing the crystals I built up yesterday, six pulls, one dupe 3*, the rest 2*. I think I'll save until the new gacha next month. Does this game have 2x gacha events?

Yeah, I'm just mentioning it because I'm very confident they cut out the less recognizable 3*s from the tutorial pool (along with the 2*s of course), which means it's possible they've changed the 4* rate and/or pool in it as well.

Thanks for the info. I will probably reroll a couple of times I guess just to see and then just go with whatever I get on the 3rd try or so.

So sick of rerolling. I've pulled 2 4* Sinons now, I think I'm just going to keep one and deal with having a C Tier starting pull. How much worse is she actually than a Yuki or Silica?

Ugh, I just got a double 4*, and neither is Silica. Come on game, the odds of that are like twice as bad as just getting her. :/ Think I'll hold on to this one, maybe send it to my brother.

Even the Reddit guide says that the tiers have a certain degree of preference to them. This game because of its action based gameplay will rely on the player first in my opinion so it will be based on your opinion of the characters play style because they do control and play very differently.

I would just start. Constant rerolling is the #1 way to get sick of a game within 24 hours. I can't speak for this game ,but in most gacha games, your starting unit doesn't matter that much in the long run, at least when a game first launches.

Initializing 9/20, does anyone have an idea what's going on here? Is that a jailbreak check?

I'm running a iPhone 5S on iOS 8.4 Jailbroken.

So I've saved up 316 Diamonds.. and I don't want to try my luck on more characters, since I already have three 4* characters, and I'd rather save up for better units to be released later.

That said, my 4* Dual Wield Kirito has no weapons.. Should I just try and farm free weapons for him, or should I toss 150 Diamonds in the gutter for a chance to get him a premium weapon that doesn't suck?

Do even low-end premium gacha weapons overshadow the free weapon drops from post-mission chests?

FYI you can try out the units in the summon page?

Wonder how the tier list works, I assume base off passive skills? For the most part melee characters all feel samey

After having played through chapter 4 with Sinon, I can see why she is C Tier. Her attacks are so slow and clunky, it's impossible to fight anything that doesn't move very slowly AND in a straight line. When you tap the screen, she lines up with an enemy, a marker circle appears, then you tap the screen again when the marker circle closes in on the enemy to get crits. If the enemy moves up or down, you have to realign and try again. Wolves are literally the hardest enemies in the game for me right now.

I'm going to keep this account on my phone and start rolling more on an emulator. I don't see myself enjoying tougher content with Sinon.

I have him too. I plan on doing one character multi and then one for weapons and then save. The chests some times have weapons but the chances for it to be dual blade and getting them are slim.

Fighting enemies who have resistance against all your guys is a bit of a slog, clearly the game telling me to get a 4* unit of each weapon type (I actually got Asuna's 4* rapier from the free weapon pull but dont have anyone who can equip it and dont have enough capacity to put Camisole Asusna on my team yet)

Thanks for the OT!

I got Seven yesterday, but I'm going to re-roll a few more times today. If I get desperate, I'll go back to my Seven account. She's a great character, but horrible to start out with (she's a support character, after all). I need my Silica/Yuuki. :/

Only your third? I'm easily going on my 40th+ (I haven't vaunted exactly). I'm well-conditioned to re-rolling, it doesn't even phase me anymore, haha.

It's hell on my iPhone battery though, all of that downloading. I need to play with my phone plugged in otherwise I'd get nothing done. :/

Also, apparently in the Japanese version of the game, you're guaranteed a 4* in your tutorial pull. I wish we had gotten that. :(

Yeah, they make re-rolling easy in Japanese versions of these games, since they know that's what the majority of the player-base will do anyway. It gets them into the game quicker, which allows them to become more involved/addicted. I wish it were as simple for us.

She's on the lower end of the tier list, unfortunately. :(

But hey, if you like her as a character, that's all that matters! But yeah, probably better for you to re-roll. There will be other/better Sinon in the future.

Edit: The more I re-roll, the more convinced I am to never give this game a cent of my money. These rates...

I'm on my 50th re-roll and I've only gotten one 4* character so far. :/
