I was looking at Fire emblem on the eshop and there was a warning that a discount is available for it on mynintendo, so apparently some new discounts are incoming.

Nevermind, apparently that's an expired one.

Usually on or just after the first of the month has been the pattern but there have definitely been some exceptions.

I would rather Nintendo price their digital products and have sales like Sony and MS does rather than Nintendo's approach of full MSRP 99.9% of the time with a random 15% off a five year old game.

This service is just another bullet point of why I'm not getting a switch. Then they have the gall to charge for online LOLOLOLOL

My only hope for MyN going forward is if Switch games have in-game content that can be purchased just like how it works with the Mobile apps. I don't think that's too far fetched.

It's never going to be Club Nintendo but at least we might have things to spend the coins on

I mean, for some VC stuff I could see them giving discounts. I'm going to hold onto my few shreds of optimism for this program a little longer and if Switch launch comes with nothing on offer, I'll let some of those shreds go.

They sold a bunch of Wii u vc games for 30p early on. I can imagine the same thing happening, except they'll require coins this time for deep discounts, only early on....Maybe?

If it were an actual loyalty program they'd make sure we were always aiming to earn enough gold coins to earn discounts on the newest game, so we'd be motivated to buy more games on the eShop and always have the carrot in front of us to buy retail releases digitally. If Amazon can give 20% off pre-orders, Nintendo should be able to offer something competitive with that if they seriously expect us to buy digital.

They are at different places for every user.
Here be some sightings from last time.
I had one on the news regarding the Zelda discounts, for example. And another one this time at the code rewards, I believe.

They can appear on the left, right, near the bottom or inside of the top-right Mii menu, at the right, as far as I know. But only once for every one of these possibilities.
