HITMAN |OT| Blood Monthly

I mean anyone who was expecting unlockable sniper case is kidding themselves...but I can definitely see a few of those items getting some use. Specifically Napoleon Blownaparte. :D

Edit: Yeah, I think the Bat is the only thing that looks newish. That said...I mean, I'm kind of glad they didn't gate something unique and gamechanging behind level 10 mastery of the hardest difficulty.
Rewarding players with cool stuff for mastering the hardest difficulty is hardly a strange concept.

In pretty much every other single player game I`m able to load my saves if the servers are down (or because there are no servers). Pushing out a big update is no good excuse for a single player game.

I'm amazed people are still oblivious to the fact this game has an online requirement, nearly a year it's been out now.

Their FAQ has no mention of people being unable to load their saves or unlock features while playing offline. People had to figure this out by themself.

Don't you just love it when shitty servers cause your single player game to have long loading times when trying to open the save/load menu?

I can't even get the PC version to boot to the main menu online now...

Holy shit, this is a repeat of last year's launch. :(

After finishing Landslide, I was stuck at the completion screen for a while as the servers tried to sort themselves out. Truly a "rich experience".

I mean I don't disagree with the notion in concept, but if you told me that like, the remote breaching charge was a lv.10 pro unlock, there would quite possibly be a large portion of the playerbase that just isn't good enough to get that meta-changing item, and I just don't agree with that. I think the best example of unlocks done right in that regard are the suit unlocks for the ETs, specifically the Terminus/Winter suits. It doesn't change the game, but it's a cool aesthetic perk for people who go the extra mile.

Wait, are the challenges on Professional just..the ones from Normal?

They didn't try to come up with slightly different ideas?

I'm already disappointed in this mode on the outset. I'm quite sure the under the hood changes on the difficulty are not that deep of a transformative experience.

I recall the game flat out telling me that there are separate online and offline saves when I started playing it.

It's actually beyond pathetic that people are complaining about it, despite IO making it clear from the start than an online connection is required to get the most from this game. That, and people are moaning about IO adding more features to the game. They'd be crying if they took stuff away, and are crying that stuff is being added. IO just can't fucking win with these self-entitled, privileged snobs.

Thinking about picking this up today, I loved Blood Money even though I wasn't great at it. Does this game make it easier the more you complete the levels? Better weapons etc? For replaying on harder difficulties?

Speaking of disappointing Professional mode unlocks, it would have been nice to allow unlocking of some of the mission specific outfits such as the Vampire Magician and Ninja for use outside of their specific missions.

For sure, as you complete challenges for each level you unlock new starting locations/disguises, new item drop-off locations and new items.

Their communication regarding the online aspect has been absolutely appalling, especially digital pre-release. Negligent at best, outright malicious at worst.

I suspect they didn't mention it in big bold writing on the retail box either, so you can't blame new players who buy it off the shelf for being somewhat taken aback.

I love when I open up the menu to save and I get a nice 20 seconds to myself while the menu loads in because it has to hit a server to retrieve the information. Just one of the many benefits of an always online connection I suppose!

It's not that bad, just a bit annoying.

So many guards around where Helmut takes his call in professional, also noticed the fireworks trigger was missing, I wonder how you get terminal velocity now

Yeah, IOI's communication was awful for the first several months, and I don't for a second blame anyone who waited for physical for not being in the know about how Hitman's convoluted profile system works.

Personally I'm just glad that I'm at work while all this is going down, and hoping that it all resolves by tonight. If it doesn't, I'll just wait (I have Yakuza to play, after all) but it does suck that the physical launch isn't infinitely smoother than the initial digital launch.

I'd have to see the box myself before making a call but really they'd have to mention the online features on the box.

I'm just surprised someone posting on a gaming enthusiast forum would be so oblivious. I can understand the average person not knowing about it.

And at the end of the day it's a patch to add in a new difficulty mode and a new mission to the game, it's not the end of the world waiting for new features.

Just got an email from Square Enix with download options for the soundtrack and the making of documentary.

Soundtrack is 552MB and doc is 1,8GB.

They don't even say it's online only on their website. They use the nebulous 'Live' content moniker which doesn't really tell the whole story :D

I can't believe they haven't sorted that yet... I ducked out for nearly six months because of their awful pre-release communication.

Well, I'd been following the series closely since C47 and didn't know how heavy the online requirement was until around the Beta. They haven't made a song and dance about it at any point, presumably hoping any negativity would go away (which it did). With the retail release, I imagine it rear its head again for a bit.

Man, I hope it isn't nearly as bad for them. I couldn't play the Intro Pack without getting booted out up until a few weeks after Sapienza released!

Checked out a little bit of everything.

Landslide: Beautiful level with an atmosphere all its own. Dedicating a large level to one target is something this game hasn't done before - presumably the target will have a number of subloops to trigger unlike Paris and its big loop.

Colorado escalation: It's in the farmhouse with a hacker focus, but there's only so much you can do with the farmhouse. I'm pretty sure I've taken out this first target at least 3 times in different contracts...

Paris on professional: Civilians don't seem more attentive, and not much seems different in the public areas. As soon as you start infiltrating it's a different story.
Guard and camera out front at the basement security room; disguise removed from locker room; rat poison and master key removed from storage area...

Unlocks: We get a second emetic syringe, a non-suspicious consumable melee weapon, an actual reason to use the full-auto pistol, and a seemingly buffed version of the best sniper rifle. Seems like a good haul.

Cutscenes: It looks like the level-end stuff in Colorado has all been condensed into a cutscene so it's all skippable at once.

I don't know why people are saying that the unlocks are shitty when one of them is Napoleon Blownapart.

There was no chance of them adding anything game-changing in a mode that is designed for a very select number of people.

Anyone have a list of the changes Professional makes to the base systems?

I know the AI reacts super fast to noise when turning, and that you cannot carry fire extinguishers in attires that you used to, which actually makes sense.

Whoa, since when did the security computer get moved from the hut out back in Bangkok?

I believe the November patch removed it?

I think IO did this because it's actually a crazy easy one to get to, even though they nerfed Sapienza by linking three camera systems to one, making it easy to negate that...

Yeah they removed it a while back, thats not something with this patch.

Makes sense, it was ridiculously easy to hit it with a silenced pistol from just outside the door. That the Sapienza one still is how it is, though, is wild.

I've never even been in the main security room in Bangkok (hit mastery and never looked back), so I guess it's time to learn a few things over again.

What made that security room a non-issue in Bangkok was that this was the same location that gave you the quietest pistol in the game.

You didn't even have to sneak into the room to turn it off.
