Why do widowmaker players seem to get so much hate?
The same reason Genji and Hanzo get hate at times. Because the bigger guys on the scene play them well so now everbody thinks they can be seagull because he makes it look so easy.
and they don't ever switch off either when they mess up.
As Anti said it's actually worse when it's somebody that knows how to play the characters on the other team

People that instalock a hero then contribute nothing with said hero make me wish I could reach into my monitor and strangle people. I will never question your Sombra, Bastion, Junkrat, whatever the fuck pick at first, but if I literally don't see your name on the killfeed ONCE during an entire round and when I ask 'hey, do you think you could play a different dps? doesn't seem to be working" and you give back radio silence, I am going to wish you a slow painful death.

There's kind of a double standard with this, like no one calls out my shitty Rein, just because he's seen as a must pick.

I got a POTG as Hanzo. I feel dirty.
To make it worse it was a 3-kill ult. Didn't even get the trophy for my dirtiness. 😞

We're on the final leg of a pretty-disorganized attack on Dorado. My team isn't grouping so I don't feel bad about abandoning them to go for the right flank. I'm running down the lower hallway on the right (the one with the little health pack in it) when my Zarya calls out her ult. I can see the purple waves emanating on the other side of the door to the path the payload takes, so I poke my head out for a half-second, toss my pulse bomb in, get a quad, and continue on my merry way.
It was the least-planned yet most-perfect PotG I've ever had.
My dream is finishing a Hanzo/Widow/Reinhardt/Hog with melee, a quad with the bomb, then spraying Mercy with a perfect clip of headshots as she GAs towards her team for the rez.
If I'm going to fantasize it's gonna' be all the way.

Hmmm... with S3 ending next Tuesday, it looks like the solo queue slot machine has been going my way at just the right time. I've gone up over 300 SR in the past 3 evenings thanks to having honest to goodness competent teammates.
Hell, even the one loss I had last night was almost a victory despite semi-tilted, semi-throw picks of attack Torb AND attack Bastion on Dorado after a bad defence round. I went Rein and shielded them while they tag-teamed riding the payload, winning the round but ultimately losing the match because our second attack was way less successful than our first.
I hope my luck continues because, at this rate, I'll be back into Diamond by the weekend. \o/

Nobody is hoping their Rein fills up the kill feed. It's great if you have a Rein that does that, but that's not really his job.
