Not in a very long time. Even with the Tag 2 buffs.

Who are these competitive players complaining about 'cheap' 'online' for Chreddy? I guess you did put them in quotation marks, are you making fun of scrubs who think they're competitive lol.

lol yeah, I put competitive players in ' ' intentionally. I'm talking about players who go online and play ranked and want to level up but constantly complain about any character they have trouble with, without even trying to understand or learn them. I'm not talking about the players who make it in top 8's of big tournaments. The top players are the minority.

Just watch any random youtube video or twitch stream of TTT2 and you will see people talk shit about capo's, either the streamer/youtuber or multiple people in the chat or comment section. There's always been a 'lol noob' reaction to any person who plays Eddy, even going back to Tekken 3. It also doesn't help that one of the bigger Tekken youtube personalities has sort of a crusade against capo's. I strongly disagree with their mind set but that doesn't mean that those players or fans don't complain about them. Even Harada mentioned it on twitter. He responded to someone who said that they love Eddy and Christie and don't understand why they are not in T7 yet and Harada said something along the lines of: "you like them but a lot of people complain". Something like that.

And when it comes to the popularity I could have sworn I saw Christie very high up on of the official lists of most used characters on console. Obviously this is not the case for the arcades, as character usage is quite different there. I think generally most newer players or more casual fans tend to pick up the capo's more. Also, anecdotally on the lower ranks in TTT2 I always see more capo's than when I climb higher up the ranks.

I was just playing T4 earlier followed by TTT2. You know, I don't think I like have the characters so damn close to the screen. I like the way the old Tekkens looked in that department better (among other areas).

They're hard to punish and you have to put the time in to learn how to deal with them, especially learn how to step b+1,4 which is their tool for everything and deals a ridiculous amount of damage on counterhit in TTT2 (150+ easily).
In my opinion Capos were a bit too strong in TTT2 when you don't have the necessary knowledge. In T7 that wouldn't be an issue though.
I've also complained about them more than once :p

For if a character needs a blood transfusion.
i don't think that's ever happened before
In Japanese culture, blood types are associated with certain personality traits.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_type_personality_theory

It's weird.
this makes sense as well, although I think I vaguely recall a conversation somewhere, I think it was manji-clan where the blood types were supposed to signify how fast or slow characters were. then again, i don't think they were revealing blood types since tekken tag 1

as for tekken 4, i definitely do remember how different that game was as a tekken installment, and perhaps it does get a lot of hate but i got a soft spot for it because that's the game that I played the most on Ps2

we didn't have a lotta money so I didn't ask my parents often to get me games, my Ps2 library was relatively slim and I played tekken 4 a lot. it's definitely the reason why i'm more into this franchise for the story than the actual fighting gameplay

I liked a lot of what T4 did(the more serious nature, the turn towards more story, the costume designs, the more sober portrayal of characters, awesome tekken force mode, nice music in certain stages)

But i didn't like a lot too(uneven stages, nerfing of certain characters, erasing of dual throw system, bad music in certain stages)

I scraped together a wallpaper of the box art if anyone wants it.

I'm not knocking the Tekken series. I used to play it way back in the day. However I just hope with the release of Tekken 7, we can move forward with Soul Calibur 6. Though I don't think we will hear anything for a while still.

To thing about the NA Collector's Edition not getting the Season Pass while the other one does, that's true. But it's different currencies as well. It's $150 in the US for the Collector's but £150 British Pounds over there. That's around $188 in US dollars. Meaning that if we bought the Collector's Edition and the Season Pass we'd still be saving $13 in the US compared to if they bought the Collector's even if it came with a Season Pass. So it makes sense why we wouldn't have the Season Pass in the US.

I thought about it the other day and it should have been obvious. I get it now. Overall we're getting it cheaper. I'm ok with this.

I still laugh at those people at the T6 arcade reveal complaining about the graphics. How about now?

They looked like shit before the major rehaul. That won't change.

Tbh. Remember how Harada was on Twitter saying the graphics weren't at full capacity and every once in a while he was giving percentages of how the graphics truly were? He was like "40% added slight shaders, still not 100" and people didn't believe his comments even though he had proof.

Hilarious.

Went to Round 1 in Taunton, MA the other day and they had Tekken 7 cabs there, the original version. Can't wait for the official release with all the Fated Retribution content. Loving Yoshimitsu's design and gameplay.

Here's a vid of me playing some Yoshimitsu...sorry I'm fairly new to Tekken and the joystick was pretty busted so be nice on my not so great play haha.

Since you're new to Tekken I gotta ask, how did the game feel to someone who's new to the series? Was it too stiff? Too execution heavy? What did you think?

It's always great hearing opinions from those who haven't been playing for decades.

Well I used to play the first three games on PS1 pads back in the day and I've played Tekken 6 and TTT2 here and there but I never fully got really good at them.

Tekken 7 had a certain stiffness but I think that was due to the joystick I think. I recently actually installed a Myoungshin Fanta Airbag joystick lever into my arcade stick because I want to get good at Tekken 7. I didn't feel like the game was too execution heavy personally, I just need to study combos more and wall splat, OTG opportunities. Between the stunning graphics and feel of the game I love it. Plus the rage arts, counters and end match slo-mo moments make the game feel so dramatic and I love that about it so far.

Also the OST for the game is awesome. I don't even love dubstep but this song gets me so hype: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_3NU59eMxI

im talking about the people concerning about how that was as good as they were going to get, even in the console release and how tekken was finished even though harada had already said that they weren't done with the game and had tons of updates and redesigns for characters left to show

There's a lot to like, but still some roughness on certain parts of the models and textures. Plus a few stylistic choices I personally don't like (CA gives me a headache, I really hope there's an option to disable).

Overall definitely better than the reveal though. And I really like all the detail they put into the texture/bump map/material shaders of Jin's Tekken 4 hoodie

I think the hair on some characters--especially lighter colored hair--is what still bothers me.

Looks very flat on Bob and Bryan's has this stiffness and weird dark outlines around the edges that makes it look like a toupee.

Damn, I want to play as well. Wish arcades were still a thing here. Playing vanilla T7 up until release would be amazing.

Looking at T4 Jin is literally taking me back to the nostalgic good ol' days fighting on the rooftops with Authentic Sky in the background. It wasn't the best Tekken but man was it special.

Also, Heihachi is Tekken to me personally. What that means is that he's the reason why the King of Iron Fist exists and the events that transpire throughout the series are mostly of his doing. You can always ready my Heihachi Fans Thread in TZ in CCC for a few facts and laughs.

Last but not least, the thread turned into a steaming pile of horse manure in the middle. Literally, it was the PS Brand that carried the series until T6 on Xbox 360. So yes, without being a fanboy... Tekken is synonymous with the PS Brand. System 246 and 256 were beefed up versions of the PS hardware. Same with T6 in the arcade.

I don't understand where and why people are so discontent with this.

I was semi joking in another thread when I said it'd be cool if they added like a Mass Effect theme or stage or character, or something.

Since this game is Tekken 7

I don't get it. The season pass is $25, but the game/season pass bundle is $85. Shouldn't they throw a discount in the bundle? Or am I just thinking too hard on this?

Cool dlc ..
Lemme wait for the finished game then

Not falling for that shit again after mkX

Probably thinking too hard. Most companies don't offer any discounts on the "all-inclusive" bundles these days.

So the tekken 7 deluxe edition is only for digital download? Was hoping for physical copy of it. Does the $25 deal on best buy if I get both tekken 7 + season pass?

Lastly, the PlayStation 4 version of Tekken 7 will contain exclusive content: legacy costumes from Tekken 4 and Tekken 2 for King, Xiaoyu and Jin as well as a Jukebox Mode where fans can listen to classic Tekken music tracks and even create playlists of Tekken music to listen to while they play. Supports PS VR.

Sold!

thank you

anyways, i wonder if this game is gonna have an online mode other than standard versus like tekken 6 did. i don't know what the general opinion of scenario campaign was, but at least BN offered something more in the form of coop

Yeah most don't. There's a few that did like Arkham Knight took $5 off but you shouldn't expect it as standard. Plenty don't do it.
Eh, the preorders are up for the X1 Edition, I may just get the standard edition now and the season pass later. I already have a digital download of Tekken 6, so I'll post my code in the giveaway thread when I get it.
