Only DC film in 2018, right? If so then DC will have released 6 movies from 2013-2018 whereas Marvel will have released 14 movies during the same time period.

Maybe. There's also Gotham City Sirens rumored.
Too bad for The Flash and The Batman but if they make it to 2019 it's gonna be a monstruous year for DC.

Yay, I'm back from GAF jail. Sorry, couldn't bring strafer with me.

Going back to Affleck, specifically him stepping away from the role, I'm really thinking that his decision is due more to personal issues.

Settle down.

It's a rumour at the moment and not even a credible one at that.

If, and that's a sizeable IF, Affleck has stepped away from the role it'll be this time next year before we hear anything at the earliest and that's assuming that he isn't doing The Batman but I highly doubt that.

Suicide Squad 2 could be ready for 2019.

I agree, but at the same time it's been a week since these rumors... A simple message from him saying "I'm still in" would have defused the situation.
Something is wrong (or the PR department is still trying to find a spin)...

It's a rumour. Nothing more.

The studio won't want to A) legitimise these rumours by responding to them and B) set precedence to respond to all rumours.

If/when Matt Reeves closes his deal they could just have a comment from Affleck in the press release.

You think Reeves people will give in or WB will give in first?

I can't believe people are judging a movie based off a goddamn leak from a person who only saw it once. You can make any fucking movie sound dull as hell if you wanted to. It's an origin movie, they are all basic as fuck. It's about how well it's made. Batman Begins sounds boring as hell if you were to read that shit to me.
Bullshit yo, the basic plot outline of Batman Begins is interesting. And that's a movie where we don't see Batman till we an hour and a half into it.

I suppose it all depends on the need of WB. Perhaps CAA would like to wait until the new Apes film opens to big numbers and then leverage that for extra cash, points or whatever. If Warners don't want to wait that long then they might want him working on the project before then.

To be honest there could be so many variables that we aren't aware of it could go either way....,

You can't believe that? Our brains are lazy, we tend to compare descriptions of things all the time, is what we do. However, we don't really know if the film is being accurately represented by that description or not until release, but the internet is constantly reacting to everything regardless of the unknown info. This wave will pass and many others will come. The complete picture will form after release.

They have an unannounced movie slated for a July release next year, too, which will likely be Gotham City Sirens. WB has been developing that script for months, Ayer is attached to direct, and Robbie reportedly has Sirens in her schedule to shoot this summer, so a 2018 release should be pretty doable.

Suicide Squad 2 could be ready for 2019.

I think if they're already courting directors for SS2 now, a 2019 release should definitely be in the cards. As awful of a movie as it was, SS was a box office hit and WB isn't going to want to wait longer than three years to strike that iron again.

With David Sandberg apparently in the mix to direct Shazam, that movie is also probably on track to make its 2019 release.

So we're back on track, but this thread is winding down... and was thinking about in order to avoid the lull a bit...

Maybe next thread we'll also extend to discussing the animated films? I mean enough of them to usually fill in any gaps of non-news

(We just had Justice League Dark, Judas Contract is in a month and a half, etc)

But dearest Penguin. I am trying to lessen how much Batman is in my life. Not increase it.

It's crazy how what used to be phenomenal is now shaky at best because them animated movies used to be the shit

I'd be up for this, animated movie discussion gets spread too thin on it's own.
Teen Titans having 3 threads alone already I think.

No lies detected. Movies are a visual medium. A plot outline will never capture the beauty of something like In The Mood For Love.

That works, I think.

Do the TV shows eventually start getting discussed here as well?

The same source, Campea, doubled down and said it's mutual... which is messed up. WB trying to distnace themselves from the actor playing their single biggest character in this universe? This thing is a mess... they should have gotten a Batman actor they could actually lock down long term.

The absolute worst aspect of all these rumours is the fact that if Affleck were to drop out he wouldn't announce it until this time next year at the earliest (once JL is released) and that's if he decides against doing The Batman.

If/when this turns out to be utter nonsense and we learn Affleck is happy to play Batman for the ongoing future then Campea can just say 'Ahh, he changed his mind".

The very worst type of nothing, bullshit rumour.

We never even had a hint that Affleck wasn't in it for the long haul till these rumors happened.

Not necessarily that he definitely wants out but there is writing on the wall at the very least.

The first sign of trouble was him continuously saying
"If the script is not right I won't do it."
when he was the writer, and for someone as talented as him to shrug it off as a possibility he can't figure out at least a basic Batman movie...

Then we had the discussion he was out, followed by him going on a talk show saying this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEWUZdPniy4
Followed by him officially dropping out a few weeks later

Then we hear its likely starting from scratch followed by rumors that he wants completely out.

I believe it at this point.

I'm too lazy to do it but I bet I could find a way to write out a plot outline of Begins and have you think it sounds boring. That's all I'm saying, and that even a boring or safe premise can be made amazingly.

Affleck not doing a script unless he feels it's right doesn't in the slightest would mean he's out. We should applaud him for wanting to give the fans what they deserve.

Yes and no... if it comes out and JLA is amazing and Batman hits... winning changes everything. I firmly believe this. Marvel tweet a picture of a turd and everyone would champion in because they are winning... DC could tweet a picture of Darkseid and everyone will whine about the accent colour on the boots.

Where you been man? We already got a red band trailer for that thing like last month lol

Anyways, is there any new info in that Empire article on Wondy?

I remember the trailer but I didn't realize it was coming so soon. Don't hear much talk/hype about it. I loved Prometheus and Alien/s so I can't wait for it

Spoilers already leaked. I read up on them and it seems like if you at least liked Prometheus, you're going to like Covenant. It doesn't sound like it's going to deviate far from the formula but I'm in it for the visuals and the lore reasons alone. And Ridley Scott is going to deliver on visuals. Say all you want about his recent output but his movies always bring it when it comes to delivering amazing imagery.

I'm actually palying Arkham Knight for the first time and it becomes godawful sometimes. Such a great dissapointment coming from the first three. That goddamn Batmobile, I dont' feel like I'm Batman, I feel like i'm playing some military game because of the 10 sidequests only like 3 are villain related and they advance by fighting military guys and or tanks, the freefall in quality is disgusting. I feel like I'm not the only one who things that as I bought it new for like $15, it has to be the cheapest AAA game there is, which means they overshipped it, hard.

I need a palatte cleanser, gimme that colorful, epic Wonder Woman god of War clone with Batman combat!
I'm kind of surprised WB hasn't tried to make a Wonder Woman with Arkham's combat. It would sell better than the Mad Max game they did (which I really enjoyed though, hope to see a sequel) and they could do a lot with the character and the setting.

I loved my time with Arkham Knight, but it failed in 2 areas that Origins succeeded with; the story and the bosses were not satisfying. I still want to see WB Montreal does with the follow-up to the Arkham series with Damian Wayne. Hope it will be ready before the solo Batman film comes out.

Let's try that again... if DCEU starts pumping out amazing movies, the narrative and public perception changes. I'm a firm believer that winning solves a lot of problems.

If that happens it's not unreasonable to picture Affleck changing his mind and continuing on with playing Batman. So yeah, I can totally see him privately thinking he's done, and then JL comes out and is great, he changes his mind internally... all without telling the media. Which makes all these rumors look fake.

For example, Marvel can release a picture of anything and people will froth at the mouth... similarly, DC can drop a picture of Darkseid and people will nitpick the dumbest thing possible like the accent on his boots. Just because of the current public perception of those film franchises.

Arkham Knight was better at open world storytelling than anything else out there including Witcher 3. Even if the story itself wasn't as great as what was in Origins, the way Rocksteady did Knight was on another level: having Joker taunting you at random intervals, playing scripted hallucinations, triggering events simply by flying by an area, etc. It felt organic in Knight much more than in other open world games.

I was confused because the last part of your post didn't have much to do with the first part. It's out of left field.

I see what you're saying though I doubt these rumors are true at all. It remains to be seen and yes, WW and JL need to be great to change the critical outlook of future DCEU films. I have hopes but wouldn't bet on it.
