Battlefield 1 |OT| Make War Great Again

Is there a way to switch default firing modes on weapons? The Sweeper defaults to full auto but I much prefer the single shot. It's annoying to remember to switch it every match.

Man, it's awesome in Rush when you get the tank cuz everyone's so used to tanks sitting at the back sniping, but instead I drive right up to their faces and take a dump all over their cover and shit.

Unfortunately, no. AFAIK that's a global variable that they can't change.

Mode was dead by the time I got the game.

Spoiler: It was terrible. Spawns for the Rush portion/Titan assault was right over the ship. Which made defending it harder to do IIRC.

Would definitely be up for a titan mode with zeppelins. BF4's titan equivalent with the warships was butts.

There are a lot of stealth sections in the campaign. So you better get use to it!

They Shall Not Pass is now out in the CTE. The new weapons will be awarded via assignments - here are the requirements for all:

Ribeyrolles Factory (has a bipod): 50 kills with the Automatico 1918 Factory + 20 headshots with the MP18 Optical.
Sjörgen Inertial (semi-auto shotgun): 50 kills with Model 10-A Slug + 15 kills in a round with the M97 Trench Gun Hunter.
RSC 1917 Optical (6 round medic weapon with a horrible fire rate because reasons): 15 kills in a round with the Autoloading 8 .35 Factory (aka second best gun after the Marksman variant) + 75 heals
RSC 1917 Factory: 50 kills with the M1907 Sweeper + 50 revives
Chauchat Low Weight: 50 kills with the Lewis Gun Supressive + 75 resupplies
Chauchat Telescopic: 15 kills in a round with the M1909 Benét-Mercié Telescopic + 10 kills with the mortar
Lebel 1886 Sniper: 5 headshots in a round with the Russian 1895 Sniper + 10 periscope spot assists
Lebel 1886 Infantry: 50 kills with the Gewehr M.95 Infantry + 20 spot flare assists
Trench Fleur: 50 kills with the US Trench Knife
Cogwheel Club: 50 kills with the Club
Nail knife: 50 kills with the shovel

Yes you do need to stealth especially on higher difficulties. And yes it's not that fun in a Battlefield game.

I think it might be impossible for me to play scout using a scoped rifle. It's so dull. I mean, sniping is great, but I'm permanently affixed to my Gewehr M.95. Aggressive scout is best scout, and it's so goddamn fucking satisfying getting bolt loaded rifle kills over distance with only iron sights to guide your aim.

Some more stuff:
RSC is a two hit kill out to 44 meters, 3 beyond that (unless you insist on kneecapping people) but has high recoil. Can two hit kill at all ranges if at least one is a headshot.
Lebel sweetspot is between 50 and 87.5 meters.
Sjörgen does the same damage as the M97 but fires 13 pellets per shot instead of 15, so it's somewhere between that and the 12g Automatic in terms of damage output.
The Chauchat hits like a truck, it's minimum damage is the same as the maximum damage of every other LMG.
Ribeyrolles is an MP18 with better damage dropoff and handling, plus you can bipod down if you want to be stationary while not hitting people.

To be fair, at a glance these don't seem as bothersome, like hopefully these are done over time and not like in BF4 "Has to be completed in one round". Sure, some of the objectives are that but not "Do ALL of this."

I kind of agree. Although id like like to 'unlock them' via a rank update or something like the rest of the guns.

I feel like the progression system in this game is the weakest they done so far for a Battlefield game. It feels absolutely pointless to rank up anything at one point. I have all the guns, im literally doing this for no reason other than to see my number change. It sucks.

Sucked in battlefront and sucks in BF1.
 
Sucks that these are locked behind requirements, but at least it'll force me to use new weapons. Who knows, maybe I'll end up liking some of these guns.

Got stuck in a team with 15 snipers while attacking on Fao Fortress operations. They all just went up on the hill in the first sector and stayed there while I nearly took B by myself three times before some folks finally switched. Even our tank guy was camping and didn't bother taking A. Had 40 kills in the first sector alone while the next guy on my team had less than 10. When I did get the tank, I took out 10 people on B before i finally went down with the flag almost taken and we lost it anyway because those fuckers didnt bother even spawning on my tank. Why do people suck so much?

Spent half the game spamming the team chat asking people to GO GO GO and Follow Me. They only listened after we had wasted a 100 tickets and a few people finally switched to other classes and we ended up taking all three sectors in one battalion. Got bogged down in Suez because no one bothered to take out the train despite me begging them to get in my anti tank landship that should take it out within a couple of minutes. We lost 150 tickets before it went down and then again at the very start of Sinai because the game glitched and spawned me without a tank and the other two tanks decided to camp.

I just dont get it.

Oh and the weekly medal system gave me 4 medals that i have already completed. I have ten weapon and mode specific medals still left to go and it keeps giving me the same fucking squad medals i completed months ago. Why do this? What's the point?

Are battlepacks broken? I bought premium last night and opened the first battlepack. Took 30+ seconds to load up the video clip (terrible). Went to open up the second and waited 30+ seconds again only to be greeted with an error screen saying that it couldn't be open..and then was left with one less unopened battlepack. Nice.

Waited a day thinking it was a server issue it I just tried again and I still can't open any. Now I'm scared I'm going to lose another one if I keep trying. I'd expect this around launch but the game has been out for 4 months now, right?

Its funny, most people were complaining because there wasn't enough stuff to unlock or grind out towards like in previous battlefields. Can't please everyone I guess.

In the base game there isnt. I had everything within the first 2 weeks the game was released. Even the sniper class and i never even use it. Adding more 'class' levels that amount to basically nothing other than a bigger number isnt my idea of fun grinding.

Grinding is fun when you get something good from it. Like a really rare nice skin or something.

The base game has nothing compared to BF4. Its a gigantic step backwards.

100% agreed. I'm not a big fan of the sniper class, but this set-up here is money.

I agree. I just started playing BF4 again for the DLC trophies and the amount of stuff you can unlock on the base game itself is gigantic. It would take ages for me to unlock everything. BF1 is pretty lackluster in this respect. No skins, fewer weapons and no customizations whatsoever for them.

One of the most fun class layouts in the game. It's such a beastly weapon with such a versatile playstyle. They really need to add that weapon to Medic, it's more suited to being a Medic and reminds me of a Mondragon.

Personally, I'm all for them going back to the Bad Company 2 method. My only complaint is the fucking unlocks taking forever. 82 hours and I'm only level 7 in each of the four infantry classes. #WTF.

Yeah, that grind to level 10 on each class is just no fun at all. It was pretty reasonable at launch; maybe a little too quick. I'm kicking myself to playing so much Medic instead of Assault, though. I got the crummy Selbstlader 1906 while Assaults got the Helriegel.

These are all good changes.
Grenades:
Increased Impact grenade minimum time before explosion from 0.7 to 1.0 seconds
Increased Incendiary grenade minimum time before explosion from 0.67 to 1.3 seconds
Increased Mini Grenade damage from 65 to 72
Decreased inner blast radius Light AT Grenades from 2.0 to 1.5
Decreased inner blast radius Assault AT Grenades to 1.5 from 2.0 Reduced Tripwire INC ammo from 2 to 1 to better account for its high damage and AOE
Crossbow:
The crossbow launcher now regenerates all its ammo even when not reloaded
Increased autoreplenish time from 15 to 25 seconds
K bullets now resupply in 2 s rather than 5
Reduced suppression by friendly gas and prevented coughing at low levels of gas suppression
Other changes:
Reduced Smoke, Gas and Mini Grenade ammo from 2 to 1
Ammo pouches currently no longer resupply grenades

This is a bad, needless change.

Hellriegel 1915:
Increased 1915 horizontal recoil from 0.8 to 0.95
Overheating now cancels ADS
Increased moving hipfire dispersion by 0.25 degrees

To me, the worst thing a game can do is be incosistent. When you are constantly changing how a gun works, you are essentially changing something we have spent hours mastering. It discourages mastering weapons and turns people off because the guns all of a sudden dont behave like they did yesterday. The Hellriegal is just a pain in the ass to control now. And they are going to nerf it even more. Great!

Eh I already felt grenade resupply was already slow as fuck.

Right. it's pretty much essential in taking down tanks as Support. I only have one light anti tank grenade and a crossbow/satchet to take it out and sometimes im the only one trying to take it out. Again, this is DICE fixing the wrong thing while trying to fix a different problem. They have fixed the main problem already by limiting gas grenades to 1 and increasing the explosion time by almost a second on every grenade. That is more than enough.

By adding these limits on recharge times on grenades, they have inadvertently made Tanks OP. This is why you dont make so many changes so fast. All they had to do was limit gas grenades to 1 and increase the explosion time. That is it.

OMG. I just read this again and they are trying to fix grenade spam by automatically resupplying grenades every 30 seconds. You will never run out of grenades. You dont need Support to resupply anymore. How fucking stupid is this?

This is what the DICE dev had to say:

Example: Let's say that the passive resupply of the single frag grenade is 30 seconds. If you are spending 1s in the area of an ammo crate you'll shorten that time with 3s (if my math isnt shoddy :)). Essentially, spend full 10s in an ammo box radius and you'll have a new grenade. But every second spent in the radius speeds the process up - so even if you can't stick around, it's worth the time to get to the crate. This hopefully makes crates more valueable, and thus causes more points income for the support as well.
On the flipside - if you throw your grenade, and stay alive, but don't enter any crate radii for the full duration of 30s, you'll get a new grenade.

So grenades automatically regenerate now? What was the thought process behind this? I seriously feel that 90% of my deaths already come from random grenades and other one shot kills that I have no way of anticipating.

Automatic replenishing of grenades with a note that they want to extend this to other gadgets. Just need to include firearm ammunition in this system and we have a worthy successor to 1943 on our hands. :p
