Giant Bomb #27 | http://cbsinteractive.com/careers

Man I love GB. Thanks to GAF for introducing it to me in a consistent way. Their podcasts and reviews are great and I really resonate with their opinions.

Can't wait to go premium.

Yo.

Fuck Outrun.

It'd probably be way better with zero (or at least significantly reduced) traffic, but the game's still iconic as shit.

Outrun 2 is easily better, though. Some might even say it's top 100 of all time material.

I'd say to wait until there's at least a new hire or two, but the back catalog is more than enough to keep you occupied until that happens.

After hearing vinny and Alex discuss what they're looking for in a hiring candidate, I feel better about my chances. Time to tune up my demo reel.

But after I make some quesadillas

Listener calls always suck. I'd rather they do email shows instead.

I'm of this opinion. I mean, calls can just be audio emails in a way, but with a call you get people stuttering or being nervous or talking too much or getting weird and with emails you can have someone just read it beforehand and say "yeah, this'll be good to talk about" or "nope, this is just the work "dicks" 100 times in a row".

I dunno, the whole audience interaction bit just puts me off. Same with the Q&A at the PAX panels.

What if we got a
Persona 5 Endurance Run
from GB East. Or West, I don't care.

I need it.

I'm on the final chapter of Yakuza 0.

What should I play next? RE7, Nioh, or wait a couple days for Horizon?

The problem with Nioh is I can't find it anywhere.

Watch GBeast do a Persona 5 ER while also doing the Yakuza thing and then dropping Shenmue 2 ER all in one go.

Meanwhile GBWest will be doing whatever it is they do.

I actually quite like today's unpro friday, but I don't really cringe at user questions as long as they're decent as a launching pad for discussion and I've always like rorie and jeff together,

edit: so I went to rent the fast and the furious to do the film and forties thing,

Apparently fast & furious is not the same as the fast and the furious.

Fuck.

Excellent Beastcast this week. I wasn't expecting Alex to namedrop Barnacle Jim of all people.

when was the last time the Bombcast had a funny, memorable moment

even if it meant that was the only content until its completion?

Hmm... if they just vaulted the content until the P5 playthrough was completed I would be alright but only if we get daily vids

If they just stopped doing content I'd have to fight myself for a while

How long has it taken you to get that far in Yakuza? I'm just at chapter 3 and loving it so far, but no idea how long this game is.

I agree, as soon as there's audience participation in anything but the very best standup it's ruined for me. Presenters try too hard and the general public are just dicks. It's why I have fallen off listening to How Did This Get Made? Far too many live shows, too much shouting and playing to the crowd.

My cat woke me up at 5:00 and will not stop purring next to me, so I've accepted I'm going to be up. I decided to lie in bed and be super productive by adding up the total content from each coast since the new year. Ignoring all video and audio podcasts except Film and 40s, not counting Drewvengeance, Brad's Extra Life stream, or the Switch stream that had Jeff and GBeast, and rounding all videos to the nearest minute, the totals are:

West: 42 hours, 52 minutes
East: 38 hours, 48 minutes

Caveats: it's 5:30 AM and I definitely could have missed something. Also, the West total counts a lot of Jeff home streams that might or might not be your thing. But I'm pretty sure these numbers are right.

Are people really that put off by just people speaking? I thought the callers were generally alright.

yeah the two call-in shows have been fine/good. Most of the PAX panels though... yeesh

That's actually surprising. Maybe because the bombcasts are a bit longer per week? I feel lijke the beastcast is usually a solid 1:30/2:00 while bombcast could go from 2-3 easily. Granted this week's was short but that's an exception. I can't really think of anything else, maybe they just do a lot more QLs?

At least in the call in shows they cut the caller off pretty quickly after the call. Then you can get some interesting answers with no awkward interjections. Fuck live shows though.

It's also probably better because Drew makes them post the question first and then can cherry pick from the ones he screens.

Wait...Horizon has good voice acting...

Was that video pre alpha or something???

I'm guessing when it comes to the story missions, the voice acting is consistent.

Who did y'all choose to
cure
in RE7?

I chose Zoe without second thought.

I went with
Zoe
as well because I thought it was funny. Turns out
it was fucking dumb to have her killed a few seconds later and then magically have Mia teleport to the shore.

RE7. It's the only one where you could possibly beat it in atleast 2-3 days depending on how much you game of course. My first playthrough was 10 hours or so from what I remember, my second playthrough was 2 hours and 30 minutes.

I do enjoy it as well. I think when it comes to UPF whatever they do will probably get someone not enjoying said thing they're doing so, it's fine.

Also, lol I always thought it was stupid to name it close to the first film. That was the 2009 film which is also where the series slowly started turning into Avengers with cars.

TBH most call in bits have been perfectly fine.

You get a few duds and repeats of the same boring questions or someone trying and failing to be funny but everything cant be a winner. I think on the average GB call ins have been fine.

Also speaking of Persona. Remember that dude from Atlus a few years ago who I assume watched the first few episodes of the ER and assumed Jeff and Vinny where just playing it to making fun of the game and took it as a offence?

And I think it was E3 last year where the Atlus guy was practically begging them to do one for 5? Fun.

I didn't count the Beastcast or the Bombcast. I think those Jeff home streams are deceptively long. Also, I'd guess that there was a lot more East content in January, but West has really cranked stuff out the past couple weeks.

They're splitting off these call in UPFs into a premium audio stream and calling it their 'end-of-month call-in show'

I approve. I really like the call ins, way better than them struggling to think of ideas and games to play on a normal show and will make the other ones feel fresher too.

I really liked those old call-in/website updates that dave/alexis did a while back. They were awesome as just a way to connect with the GB crew and get updates and provide constructive criticism. If anything, this call-in show should be a good way for people who are unhappy with the current output to voice their concern.

Man, hearing about Vinny "saving up" for $60 games kind of bums me out.

It's nice to have a regularly scheduled period where premium members can ask questions about the site and shit like that, too. A lot of the dialogue about the site has always felt a little one-sided even if that isn't actually the case (Jeff's Tumblr doesn't seem like it should be the best place for in-depth information about Giant Bomb, for example).

edit: what wunder said I guess
