Amazon US Removes Zelda Wii U Search Listings

That GameStop thing might be an error, I ordered mine for pickup when I heard about the Amazon issue and it didn't require a protection plan.

What am I missing here?

You have to buy the protection plan or it has to be done in store if you want one?

Yeah, everyone is misreading this. If you want a protection plan, you have to buy it in the store.

It doesn't say "Protection plan required for purchase", it says "Protection plan must be purchased in the store."

Wait, are they saying you HAVE to purchase the plan in order to pick it up or you can ONLY purchase it in store?

If it's the former, that's some grade A bullshit right there.

Well when I just checked out it was only the cost of Zelda. So if that is the case the guy st the counter is going to have to add it on and if they try that I will just say no and leave.

We got our answer who got those Switch console stolen then. And anyway fuck Amazon, how do people even still order from them? Almighty cuuuuuunts.

Pretty sure all it is saying is that the purchase plan can only be bought in store. Basically a warning that if you get it shipped then you cannot get the plan.

Follow up e-mail i got from Amazon, not very helpful. Already pre-ordered it from Best Buy, and arranged for in store pick up.

What exactly is/was Nintendo and Amazons dispute?

When it was discovered that the early 3DS was scratching the top screen Nintendo said it wasn't a design fault and refused to accept free warranty returns or refund retailers who did. Amazon took them as returns and then got stuck giving people new 3DS' to cover their return policy without being able to get refunds from Nintendo for damaged product. Amazon stopped selling the 3DS directly, maybe some other things, stopped giving Nintendo free promotions and prime screen position, and so forth. My memory is fuzzy but I think Nintendo then started screwing around with shipments to Amazon but I could be mistaken on that.

This. I understood that on my first reading of it.

I would think so as well, but it is worded in such a way that makes it unclear. I could see a lot, if not most, consumers thinking that means they have to add the protection plan for an in-store pickup. If it can't be added online that should be more obvious and I'm sure the Gamestop employees would clear up the confusion at the store (hahaha, sometimes you have to make yourself laugh).

Does it say "a protection plan must be purchased with this item?"

No.

Poorly worded, but logically it just means if you want the plan, you need to get it when you pick up the game, it is not available to add it to a delivery order.

I apparently still had a Wii U version order despite ordering the Switch one, so I checked its date and it says "Arriving Fri, Mar 31."

Seems like it's all over the place.

I never got an email from Amazon, but checked my order and it now says arriving March 31. It had said Mar 3 as recently as a few days ago. I've had my preorder for months.

I quickly put in a Best Buy preorder for store pickup and it seems to indicate that I will be able to have it March 3. I'm not taking anything for granted now, though.

This is a pretty bad look for Amazon and Nintendo. Not sure where fault lies. Glad I saw it here so I could get a BB preorder in.

Same here. Looks like I pre-ordered this back on June 19th, 2014 for the Wii U version. Date has changed to the 31st of March. I've seen their system do that on previous orders and they usually end up making the release date (usually).

The only odd thing is if I click the item and go to its dedicated page, it doesn't tell me I've already purchased it like it typically would for other (pre-)orders. As long as I get the Switch version, I won't mind too much since this will likely stay sealed. Still bummed out my Master Edition got cancelled with the majority of people.

I also see March 31 on Amazon. If Amazon can't guarantee BOTW on 3/3, why should I trust Best Buy to deliver? Please help me! I am desperate for this game.

silly question. If these preorders don't show can't we just buy it digital from eshop on switch?

of all the stuff i ordered from amazon the only thing i have that says arriving on 3/3 is my case.

Switch preorder is at BB. got it in on the night preorders went live right at midnight.

This happened to my order as well. Yesterday it showed March 3rd for it and overnight I got that e-mail everyone else has gotten. Now my order has no delivery estimate.

I'm probably going to end up waiting a few days, at most until Wed. If the shipping does not update by then, I will cancel and just walk to Target on Friday and buy the Wii U version there. Sucks to not have the $10 off but it is what it is (if it doesn't work out with Amazon).

This is frustrating but if Amazon doesn't have this squared by next Friday I am just going to go digital. Only went Amazon for the prime discount to begin with.

In regards to preorder status I had noticed the one I had for a year was March 31st and had been that way since before a release date was available. I went ahead and did a second preorder and it had the March 3rd release date. I then canceled my original order and as of yesterday it said shipping 3/1 arriving 3/3. At 10:20 pm PST last night I got "the email".

My Zelda BotW Wii U Amazon order says 'Delivered,' but when I click on the order it says 'not yet shipped.' What a disaster.

Because they provide phenomenal service 99% of the time. And when they mess up they have the really good customer service.

Happy that both my Wii u and switch versions are at Best buy despite paying more for them. Had a feeling something a bit off with switch stuff on Amazon

GameStop posts above made me realize people's common sense and reading comprehension can be bad. Even if it's not worded perfectly it's obvious it just means that you have to pay for protection at a store if you want it.

I find the fact that anyone would think it means anything else kind of funny.

Not a GameStop fan and that is still a "duh" moment. It took me a second to realize why the person was complaining.

Still have no delivery estimate with my copy.:/ I should probably contact them soon and see how it goes.

Bleh I should plan to go to gamestop or something just in case.

I noticed this when I realized I didn't have it pre-ordered this morning. Went to Amazon and it couldn't be ordered other than the digital versions for both Switch\U. Then I booted up the Wii U to see if I could start pre-loading it from the eShop and it's not even listed there yet.

Nintendo please!

Had the same problem most people have, but noticed a few things. I also had the same problem with my Breath of the Wild strategy guide I pre-ordered not being dated, even though I know I saw somewhere it was coming out the same day.

Also I was about to cancel my Wii U version pre-order and just download it digitally, since I don't drive and feel like paying extra for shipping on other sites, but I noticed that it's still not on the store in America for pre-download a week before releasing. That's ridiculous for a game this size and when they have previously had the ability to pre-order games a month ahead of time for all of their major releases.

It's weird to hear this kind of silence from both ends

I figured it was becaue of the "Frequently bought together" screenshot someone took that showed Zelda BotW Wii U + Nintendo Switch together lol

Just a thought, but does the 1st quarter (in terms of corporation sales) end on March 31st? I know Amazon always defaults to the quarter's last possible date when they don't know what's going on. It's possible someone screwed up the date.

I also remember when they screwed up the WiiU/Switch listing, that I accidentally preordered the Wii U version, and only noticed because the default date on it was March 31st. This was back when preorders had just opened for the Switch.

Amazon has been all over the place with properly listing this stuff, so it's possible they just messed it up again, and it defaulted to March 31st because it's the last day of the quarter.

I could be completely wrong, though.

I think the reason why there isn't a pre-load up yet is because nintendo doesn't want this out early. They had it up for a while, but people started to download it, so they pulled it.

With the Wii U being so easy to hack, they want to limit the chance the game leaks early.

I have mentioned this before, I wonder how many WiiU Zelda BOTW disc's were printed, it wouldn't surprise me if there was only one print-run.

Amazon may have received the stock in their warehouses and found that there isn't enough to meet the orders that they have received.

Maybe the conspiracy of Nintendo doing it to create a faux-demand is right.

I mean how many times can they get a pass for "mis-reading the market/demand" or whatever the excuse people make for them.

I'm actually staggered there are people that think Nintendo doesn't ever do this.

I think linkboy is right on the money. In fact, when it was up on the EU store for preload I believe that's how the asset leak occurred. So, they probably are waiting to put it back up just in case anything like that happens again.

My pre-order saya it should be arriving by march 7-14. I live in Puerto Rico, so this is normal for us (we only get the 5 to 7 day delivery option with prime).

standard or premium?

Also both my Switch and Zelda say arriving Friday.

I went with the standard Hori because it said it was going to arrive by Friday.

It's weird because I ordered the same thing back in late January when pre-orders went up for Hori screen protectors and there was still no estimated arrival. I would get an ETA via e-mail. Cancelled and reordered and got a Friday delivery date.
