Horizon Zero Dawn |OT| The Land After Time

It's one of the first skills in the prowler skill tree. Costs one skill point I think.

Once acquired you press R1 to perform it when your target gets close enough. A prompt comes up when it's available. The system reminds me of Shadows of Mordor.

Yeah just saw that. Lets just say I tried to do it without knowing that first and.. well, at least I survived.

EU and UK GAF you guys are in for a real treat.

I've been playing all day basically.

Too bad I can't take the whole week off :(

Just picked up my copy at Best Buy. I couldn't believe the amount of collectors editions behind the counter waiting to be picked up. The regular blu ray stack was massive as well. This game is going to be absolutely massive.

I underestimated my lack in shooting skills in TPS gameplay. Sure I played QB and Uncharted 4 last year, but in those games I didn't really need to be precise where to hit the enemies.

I have wasted so many arrows it's not even funny -__-

This will be a tough learning curve for me.

Like, a few hours in and so far this fees like a fun post-post-apocalypse Young Adult novel series. I'm finding myself weirdly interested in not only the core mystery of the world and how Aloy fits in it, but also the politics of it. Really didn't expect to give a shit about the latter. It seems served well by the T rating.

Also I sprinted towards an elk robot that was charging me, slid, and shot it in the fucking face in slow-mo just as I was about to get hit. Don't play chicken with Aloy, stupid robots.

Horizon still #1 on the hourly amazon charts, and the Slim is at #8, with the Pro sold out again.

I think this game will give the PS4 a pretty nice bump in sales this month.

Are people still having issues with framerate drops through the PS4 Pro? Not with HZD, but with other games.

One of the reasons I've held off on getting the Pro is the issues it has had on that. But with HZD this is the time I may jump in. However, I don't want to do so if there are still issues in the PS4 Pro with other games. I know Skyrim had problems, and that is one game I still play.

thing is a bit tough for me. Insulting someone for that is so harsh, i'm really intrigued to see why its so bad, and where the story goes.

Definitely not an STD, as I'm a pure.
Wow I never had a PS4 disk game take this long to install. Usually it doesn't take more than a minute or two, but Horizon has been installing for about 10 minutes now. Wtf ?

This game is the shit..

I think Zelda is going to offer up more gameplay variety and may edge it out with just how creative you can be, but I gotta say, I thought it would be no contest for GOTY with Persona 5, Zelda, and RDR coming. This will outclass Zelda in graphics/Voice acting/and Story IMO judging from early streamers, (story/acting are my only gripes with what I saw)RDR and P5 have their work cut out for them.

it's so so so so good!

have to play Nioh, but this is easily PS4's top exclusive If the story stays this good. And TLG was no slouch either in the feels department.

Bloodborne robbed.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.

Let's dispel this notion that Pro has frame rate issues. A game dropping one or two frames on the rare occasion while running at a higher resolution with more effects doesn't mean "Pro has issues with frame drops'.

I still have no idea how this narrative took off or people started believing it because it is absolutely false.

That was a couple games in the beginning of the Pro's lifecycle. The system is great.

I'm only halfway through the main campaign but 30 hours total.
But mother earth and the belief system of the Nora people focuses heavily on Mothers. Mother Earth is huge for them and they almost name everything mother peak, mother square, mother blah, etc... So if someone doesn't have a mother I can see how they'd be against that considering how fanatical some of them are.

As someone who just caught up with The 100 I am even more excited to get home and play.

The choices in Horizon... do they change anything? Or is it more of a "put yourself in Aloy's shoes but it doesn't affect outcomes" deal?

I would personally prefer the later. I can act the way I would want Aloy to act and I wouldn't have to worry about losing out on story.

no big changes. Only small things which don't really change the story at all.

I don't understand aiming in this game. Is the arrow trajectory precision based, or RNG behind the scenes based? Because I'll line up a shot perfectly, fire, only to have my arrows veer wildly off the mark half of the time. I thought maybe they were trying to go for realistic physics, but that's definitely not what is going on here.

It's mostly a "be in her shoes", it can lead to some variations but I don't think the whole story ever changes.
I'm fine with that too because it doesn't feel cheap. Unlike fake choices in telltale games.

The only time my arrows veer off the mark wildly is when I don't hold back the bow long enough. If you don't hold back long enough for the circle reticule to show the bow is fully torqued then it will veer off the mark.

Alight peeps Im home and its installing..What difficulty am I playing this baby on? I usually do hard mode, but I want to make sure its still very enjoyable yet challenging. If normal has some pretty decent difficulty spikes, Im down for the as well. Thanks

Does it lock me out of content (side quests, gameplay additions) if I make a "incorrect" choice about things?

I'm not positive what it is either, but I sort of get you. It seems that when I veer off slightly on robots it magnetizes to the weak points, but getting headshots on humans is...weird. I sorta felt like aiming up and to the right a bit helped, like maybe the shot tracks from her hands to the centre of the reticle? Not quite sure, but yeah, it's kinda weird.

Or maybe it's entirely intentional, and other arrow types are better about it.
