Hmm, yea didn't really have the questioning/seeking/journey feel of prometheus at all. Seems very straight forward, so a bit disappointed.

Man, this shows way too much. Like, it doesn't seem to leave a lot of tension.
Hopefully it's just a haphazard trailer. Xeno action everywhere. Was hoping for something more dialed back like the original, or even Prometheus. Maybe it still is but the trailer isn't doing it any favors.

I sincerely hope they're keeping a ton of shit under wraps (there's that one shot of a city?) because otherwise, I don't quite see what's special about this.

Got a quick glimpse of the neomorph. Which is apparently what happens after you step on the little black thingys out by the wheat. The spores go in your ear, you get dragged back to the ship with your mouth bleeding, and then it bursts out of your back.

It kinda seems like Ridley's gone ahead and went with the Aliens being slavering, agitated monsters instead of the smooth, gliding, inscrutable evil of the first movie.

Straightforward is fine, and it doesn't have to be all or nothing--- Prometheus just didn't juggle certain things with efficiency. The original is straightforward, hell Aliens is straightforward. I was merely saying that I think the trailer shows too much and focuses way too much on xeno action, some of which seemingly more over the top than we've seen before.
I don't judge movies based on trailers though. It just made me a little concerned that it might be too over the top for my tastes. Like the xeno hanging on the cockpit windshield and headbutting into the glass, it just felt like... kind of like stripping their elegance, in a way.
If he had some help writing a script or someone else wrote it entirely I think it could have been good. He's got a good eye as a director but he is a pretty uninspiring writer.
Pretty sure he's in director jail, and for good reason.

That wasn't how it was going down, though.
He was going to write a movie that erased Alien 3 and replaced it with 70 year old Ripley & Hicks wearing xenomorph suits in a giant Weyland Yutani warehouse kinda... I dunno? Shooting people? Blowing up the derelict?
It wouldn't have been good. His whole idea was going to be "Ripley & Hicks are back. Shooting things."
Like anyone really wants to see an ALIENS-esque action movie starring 70 year-old Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn.
The premise itself is fucking busted.

Some great visual shots, but the whatevermorph reveal is pretty uninspiring. Leaping all over and smashing its head into a cockpit is kind of meh as far as the creature's scare-factor goes.
This was kinda sorta the premise for some of the Dark Horse Aliens comics, and it kinda worked there but those were also like 25 years ago.

He most certainly is not.
I know this is gonna be bad but the reptilian part of my brain makes me excited when I see the Alien chasing people and ish, even if it is noticeably CGI. Looks better than Prometheus at least, like it might have some actual tension.

I actually liked the idea and I'm not fan of Alien 3 or many of the sequels so I had no real concern if they were dropped like a bad habit. I'd be fine with old Ripley kicking ass and shooting guns.
