Do I need to have the compass enabled? I've been using the dynamic settings but it seemed like it was a waste to leave it on there too and be the only thing spoiling the view. I've turned it off for now since you can see mission objectives in the distance, but I wasn't sure if there were other practical needs that would necessitate keeping it up most of the time.

Not sure you'll see this but apparently the DLC Deluxe Edition "Carja Mighty Bow" and the "Carja Storm Ranger Outfit" do indeed seemed bugged to be much more powerful than they should be.

Reddit - Guide to Understanding Weapons, Armor, Mods, and Farming 10J Shards & Easy Purple Mods

What it says about this DLC gear:

"SIDE NOTE - GLITCHED DLC GEAR:

While this won't effect everyone, I thought it would be worth mentioning. 2 Pieces of Deluxe Edition DLC gear, the Carja Mighty Bow and Carja Storm Ranger Outfit, are currently performing far better that their stats suggest they should be. The blue tier Carja Bow out-damages its purple equivalent, the Shadow Hunter Bow, by a large margin (nearly double), even though the SHB can equip 3 purple damage mods. The Blue Carja outfit, takes 10% of the damage that the highest defense purple outfit you can obtain, even when that outfit is stacked with defensive mods. Were talking hits that would do 40 damage instead doing 4 damage. This is likely unintended and may be patched out in the future, but worth noting."

I can definitely say the bow is bugged. I just tested it and most critical hits to the eye do almost double damage from the Carja Mighty Bow over the Shadow Hunter Bow.

That said the Hardpoint Arrows on the Shadow Hunter Bow outperform the Carja Might Bow Hunter Arrows...so I think it's worth upgrading. Of course, the Hardpoint Arrows are much more expensive to craft.

Why are you guys running out of wire? Just kill watchers and grazers. Merchants sell the stuff for five shards.

Does anyone know how to buy multiples of an item? I have to sit there holding X over and over. Please tell me there's a way else that would be a huge oversight.

I feel like a rope caster and tripwire god. Planning ahead is fun but it feels really good when shit hits the fan and you get those slow motion moments of crafting while a giant mob is on your ass.

I've been remote playing and really need a grip for the OG Vita any recommendations?

I need guide for that asap. should be very useful with unlimited fast travel.

I've only found one spot with like 10 herbs that can refill a full flask. It's near the level 12 main quest where you go after
Olin
, just before the quest area. Not sure if it's worth the loading time though. Maybe there are better spots somewhere.

Yeah, it's been bugging me as well. Good thing is that I don't really buy stuff in bulk that often. But I hate it when I have to do it.

Before I had played the game had seen some comments that the game din't grasp you in the first hour or so. I agree, it's a slow starter, but gets really after after that.

Here's a cool comparison of Horizon in 4k mode to The Witcher 3, max PC settings in 4K:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csvNXBxVW-g

Horizon is holding up pretty well, even surpassing the Witcher in some regards, while falling short in others.
Also interesting is the difference in art style. Directly compared to The Witcher 3 it is even more apparent how stylized Horizon actually is.

PC Master Race: "Witcher 3 was downgraded 'cause consoles."
Guerrilla Games: "Hold my beer."

You know what I realised.

There was no 'press X for awesome' moments in the battles and it still felt exhilirating and fun.

Other game devs will probably be copying the gameplay for years to come.

I cheesed that part, after dying oh so many times.

Lured them out in the open, and then sit across the stream in some grass and shot flaming arrows at them until they die. Using the heavy stealth suit works here really well since they will attack the last place you are at after they resurface from the ground.

I didn't even think of that... I just stood on stop of the little hill knitting the snapjaws to me so they would fight them and weaken them...

Why can't I compare weapons from a merchant with the weapons I have on my person? One of the more annoying things with this game.

Mediocre controlled game ?

We must not be playing the same game. Aloy controls like a dream, and personally I think there are plenty of funny dialogues (on the snarky side) and interesting characters... #shrug

The only score that is puzzling imo is that 5/10, but again she is entitled to her opinion.

That's exactly what I meant :)

I reacted towards someone who can't believe this game got a 10/10 because the dialogue and facial animations aren't all that great in his opinion. For plenty of reviewers gameplay is key and everything else is a bonus.

My sentiment is exactly that as well. Graphics always come second for me. The Order is a perfect example. Beautiful graphics but boy does the gameplay feel incredibly mediocre.

Got my first "collectables" which had some really cool back story about the old world. One hit quite close to home with the current "migrant crisis."

Really interesting stuff.

Because wire is used for my sniper bow and arrow that is way more powerful than my regular one. As well as traps, as well as the tripcaster, as well as the device that ties monsters down (forgot the name).

And not every monster gives you wire when you kill it.

Wire is the biggest reason I grind (and I'm loving the grind ;) ). And I refuse to buy it cause for me part of the fun of games with crafting is having to find the materials yourself (I love survival type gameplay if you can't tell. I'd love a survival mode in Horizon. Survival mode is what made up for Fallout 4's weak RPG).

You are doing it wrong, firstly weapons aren't loot here and this isn't a loot based game. The loot here is used for crafting items and supplies which is a different design philosophy from what you see in NioH.

Secondly you are missing out on a LOAD of stuff if you are sticking to original bow. For instance the War bow is entirely there for debuffs, the sharpshooter bow is this game's sniper rifle and it also has an ammo called tear ammo which will take down enemy parts with 1-2 arrow rather than shooting 15 arrows at the part to take it down. Lastly the purple hunter bow lets you use heavy arrows which do considerably more damage.

Basically:

1) Hunter Bow: Damage + fire debuff
2) War Bow: All other debuffs + corruption which temporarily makes enemies aggro on each other
3) Sharpshooter Bow: Sniper + Tearing down parts

The purple version of each lets you use 3 different ammo types, blue one lets you use 2 different while the green ones are limited to just one ammo type.

If you are using the same now from start of the game then you haven't experienced tear arrows. They are game changers, you can shoot one at a Thunderjaw to take its disc launcher down and then use the disclauncher to kill the Thunderjaw from full health.

I had to use the other weapons for challenges considering I'm now lvl41 and kinda did like half of the map in terms of content. I was just saying there is no sense of progression when it comes to loot in this game, you get better and dispatch robots more efficiently because you learned and progressed not cause of the gear since I can roll robots with regular gear.

Of course using debuffs, traps and other things makes it easier, not deniying that. I'm using 3 purple bows and the weapon to attach mobs. Bolt caster is useless imo.

Something I didn't do until now, if you do the Hunter's Lodge quests they show you good ways to take down the different machines.

You can stun the Bellowbacks by shocking them and shoot below their bodies from behind for very good damage. Of course you can also try to explode their blaze sacks.

Thanks! Bad thing about exploding their sack is that you need a vast amount of arrows to get it done, will try to figure out if there's a faster way

I ordered this one from Play-asia a few days ago with Horizon in mind, it seems to be the best one available:

I wish you could craft armors or weapons from slain machines. Would've been cool but there's always the sequel.

It's absurd when you considered that Rosts wear boar skin with its head intact. I mean, trophy is an important of hunting and it could easily add depth and variety to the weapon and armor selection.

Finally get some funds to purchase this game, and it's conveniently out of stock on Amazon. How the hell is that even possible?

It keeps going in and out of stock on Amazon. I say keep checking.

Bumped the difficulty back up to very hard again. I absolutely love the sense of danger and dread in this world. Even killing scrappers and watchers never stops being satisfying.

DLC Armor bug is real lol

I tested it against a Sawtooth and with other armor equipped he takes 50% of my max hp per attack. But with the armor, he only takes like 8-10% per attack.

No wonder Hard isn't hard enough.

There should be more tampons in gaming

I concur, as good as I feel the game is, there are readily apparent things I'd like to see fixed and/or added in a subsequent game.

The way Horizon's characters blink is hardly noticeable, so it really looks like they never close their eyes. I think this makes conversations kind of creepy actually.

Also, some of the NPCs barely open their lips while talking, which is pretty weird to me.

That is impressive. But I also think this comparison is not really complete. Aside from the lack of waterphysics and the general lack of interaction with vegitation, the world of Horizon seems much more interactive in other aspects (trees can be torn down, shaks can be destroyed) and the common enemies set in in the actual open world in Horzizon seem more impressive than the usual ones in TW3 (bandits, trolls, wolves, drowners etc.).

Eh, yeah, as good as The Witcher III looks, Horizon is head and shoulders above it, visually.

Got to level 18. Cauldron's seem like they're going to be pretty cool. Did Cauldron Sigma and had a lot of fun. Side quests seem like they're going to dull as dirt though. All the one's I've done so far are either Witcher 3 style follow the trail types or fetch quests. I want to skip all of them but they all seem to give a decent amount of XP and shards.

Are the Cauldrons worth doing? Does overriding ever really come in handy? 🤔

Two sawtooths... I override one, help it destroy the other. The time I have left that it is overridden I set up some traps for it and then shoot it to break it of its override.

I think it's useful ;). Might even make the game a little too easy (but I'm not far in the game... I'm really trying to take my time).

Im using the preorder armor and Sawtooths kills me in 2-3hits on Hard. Or is another one?

Really don't like the fact that you can't select more than 1 quest. I'd to the tutorials if I didn't have to deselect another quest so I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

I think the weapon tutorial quests are bugged, or at least I hope so. It's really weird that you can't complete them unless they are specifically marked as active. Other quests don't work that way.

30 hours and 40% completion, I really take my time with this.

Yeah it looks super badass. I guess they didn't want Aloys face to be completely covered during conversations.

Which should be easily remedied by hiding the helmet in conversations like so many games have done in the past. I want a hide helmet feature so badly in Horizon.

Yesterday was the first time I figured out that you can shoot 3 arrows at once with any arrow when you get the skill, that's after admit 26 hrs of playtime when it hit me lol
