I've only been to a single Target so far, but their accessories section was bombarded. They only had one set of additional grey joycons left.
I'm still looking for that RDS case, don't want to wait 1-2 months for the amazon one. But I might have to haha

Try Gamestop. My local store didn't have the RDS case in stock, but they were able to order one and ship it to my house. Ordered it yesterday, should arrive tomorrow.

I love the system, and I'm loving Zelda, but the fact that we're starting yet another generation of Nintendo hardware where we have to worry about losing our save data due to hardware failure is a real disappointment.

If they want to add some much needed value to their paid online service, cloud saves should be a thing.

However, i'd settle for SD card backups like i'm sure the rest of us would.

That's definitely a huge bummer! It probably boils down to Nintendo thinking we won't need to transfer hardware outside of defects and being afraid of hacks via memory card... But come on man.

That being said, I fully expect cloud saves to be part of that paid online service. It's just a pain that we might be waiting a bit for that to show up.

Cloud saves HAVE to launch with paid online. If they don't it will be the most hilarious moment in gaming.

Hardware: my unit has some dust trapped under screen and so do the other two units in my household. Not too bad as only visible in white screens and if you flashlight up the screen while it's off. Too hyped with Zelda to wait for new stock or play the QC lottery.

Not me. I love the gyro controls.

The gyro controls are great for aiming the bow. Get close to the target with the sticks, then fine tune using the gyro.

It actually makes the tiny/loose sticks of the joy-cons much more bearable when playing in portable mode.

I've got a quick question.

So I finally hooked up the dock now that I'm home. First off, the only place it can fit is behind the tv, and i actually put it backwards (screen facing away from me) so the cables aren't jutting out.

Is that ok? Pro controller seems fine like this...dunno about the joy cons.

Also I have the pro controller hooked up wired right now. Does it charge while the console is in sleep mode?

I have a question about merging eShop balances. I'm not home right now but when I first saw the option I opted not to do it because of the fine print. I can't remember what turned me off but I just looked it up online and it appears it just makes the 3DS/Wii U share the same balance as the Switch? I could've sworn I read something about not being able to go back the other way or something. Can anyone chime in?

I placed a screen protector on incredibly poorly last night. I don't really play in handheld much, and it's only really bad on the sides with the actual screen being pretty good, but it was still frustrating

This is why i get other people to put them on my phone
Is there any way to see how long you've played a certain game, or no?
You can download the parental control app on your phone, but it will only start recording the time you've played after you've installed it and paired it with your switch

Yeah, I ordered one too. And I feel like I will have the same result. What is the right way to put one on perfectly? Anyone have a foolproof procedure?

Should be fine and is probably what I am going to do with mine so it can be right next to my Wii U. Only space I have left to put anything except it's going to be a pain with the Switch with how I will need to access it more than the Wii U.

Yes the Pro controller charges during sleep mode. I had mine charging last night and the orange light was on. This morning was off so I assume all charged.

How long do you guys think it'll be before Nintendo puts out different colors for Pro Controllers and Joycons? I really want transparent-colored ones for both. Like that awesome tacky neon-color-clear-plastic aesthetic that was a trend for a bit in 90's gaming.

You can. That's exactly how I've been charging my Switch so far, as I'm terrified to put it in the dock since my screen protector hasn't arrived yet.
:D I'm glad it can be charged. Thanks.

My screen protector is set to arrive on the 14. I need to find myself an extension cable. Really want to play Zelda on the big screen.

Got my switch today after UPS dropped the ball yesterday. So tiny. Never saw it in person before this. Zelda is good so far. Waiting on a charge while
I cook dinner. I'll be busy this weekend :)

I am asking this for my brother, he's not on Neogaf but has a very weird but especially annoying problem. He has a Samsung KS8000 and the Nintendo Switch. There are no HDMI inputs on the TV and it comes with a HDMI box basically. He has his Switch, Digital TV tuner, Xbox One S and PS4 connected via HDMI to it.

The problem starts when he's gaming on either Xbox or PS4 or watching TV and out of the blue the TV switches back to HDMI 4 where the Nintendo Switch is at. We had this yesterday while playing Horizon ZD in the middle of a conversation with an NPC, it just changed to HDMI 4 for no reason. The weird part is that when he removes the Switch from the dock It's gone. Apparently this is a problem more people have. Is there anything he can do about this? He's considering selling his Nintendo Switch and buying Zelda for Wii U and wait until this problem is gone. But before doing so trying out everything he can would be wise. Any advice?

Did he turn off HDMI-CEC in the system settings?

OK I will tell him this.

He did sent me a screenshot of another forum post of someone with the exact same problem. And he said the HDMI-CEC thing was only a temporary fix.

Ok! It seems that the Switch will auto turn on when it gets to 100% charged, so I'm guessing that it keeps reaching that 100%, turning it on and activating the TV and Switch's HDMI CEC features.

Fantastic, I'll try them out!

I finally received my console in the mail, have it all set up and downloading FAST RMX now. Love the pro controller and thankfully so far, my joy cons have very good connection. Update downloaded quickly, game is taking a bit longer but I'm sure loads of folk are trying to download off the e-shop this week.

I'm having the same problem with dust under the screen, first time I got the Switch I inspected the screen and there was nothing there. The next day I was cleaning the screen to apply a screen protector and I found a speck of dust under the actual screen. Today I was checking the screen and the speck is gone. Like I said in the other thread, I think I'm going to stop being so anal about the Switch and enjoy the system.

Ok that's good to know and I'll pass it along but it seems there's no real fix for this? Or is that second option (match TV power state) likely to help it? He's not available now but I told him to enable both settings.

I've not been keeping up with the Switch rumours and leaks

Did they turn out to be fake or the person on Twitter still thing they are coming later down the line.

The rumours were
Mario Maker port
Rabbids Vs Mario
Smash Bros port
Pikmin 4
Pokémon Stars
Xenoblade X port

Also Splatoon having a 1v1 mode

Nooo, you want to turn off both settings! There isn't, shouldn't be, a real problem! If he has the settings on like I am guessing, then they are doing their job!

HDMI-CEC is used for things like making your TV turn on and switch to the input of whatever electronic device you turned on. So basically, the Switch keeps turning on and off because the battery will go down to 99% battery and then to 100% to prevent overcharging. Charging to 100% seems to turn the Switch on in some way. Since it'd be turning on again, the TV would think that you'd want to switch to it's input, thus creating the issue you described.

at last, for christ's sake
Amazon France delivered the package this morning. Fiddling with the accounts atm, but already loving this tiny piece of hardware. Bloody scared about scratching the screen though 😥 why the heck didnt i buy some amFilm screen protectors along with it

Watching that Crowbcat video is really really scary.

What's worse is the comments section. By all means, Day 1 consoles are never going to be flawless/feature laden, but try to view with a grain of salt. I've had no such issues yet, and try to help out any other users with my experiential knowledge (thus far)

Nothing has been announced about any of that. Much of it is probably wrong, all of it is at best unconfirmed.

Haha sorry man, my bad. I meant disable the features. He told me he did the HDMI-CEC off already today but he said nothing about a setting in the Switch settings. So I am guessing he hasn't disabled that yet. I will get back to you as soon as I hear from him. I really hope this fixes it for him.

Sheesh... just had a long talk with a GameStop.com customer service rep about some questions/issues I've had with some Switch-related orders, and I don't think I'm ever going to be using GameStop.com again if their backend really is this shoddy.

1. I ordered a pair of Neon Joycons off the website. I had some GameStop credit and didn't really care about getting them this week, so I decided to go with GameStop. Simple, right? Wrong.
2. I ordered them on Friday, it's now Tuesday and they haven't shipped. They were in stock online. I decide to call them up and after a 30 minute wait I finally get someone to talk to. Lo and behold, they're backordered until April 16th. No thanks! I ask him to cancel that order, he says he's going to have to escalate it to someone else to attempt the cancellation for whatever reason. He offered a $15 discount on the order but I wasn't sure if it was worth waiting that freaking long for the neon colored buggers.
3. Since I was on the line, I decided to ask him about a quirk/problem I had with my Switch system order proper. When I first ordered, and up until the 25th of last month, my Order History said the order would be $320.50. That was AFTER the day-1 shipping and tax. On Jan 13th I also got a Paypal authorization for that amount. Following the 25th - and I didn't want to mess with it, because my system hadn't shipped yet - the order history was changed to around $339.41 and I got a second authorization for that amount. Not a big enough deal/change, I decided to wait to deal with it until after my system arrived.
4. So, I bring up the problem with the Customer Service rep, and... I'm confused, he's confused, there is NO record in their system of the previous price, he can't do or see anything. I ask to speak with a supervisor after however many minutes talking about it, and eventually he says that even a supervisor likely wouldn't be able to help me much since the old cost is simply not in their systems anymore(!)
5. I walk away with only about $10 of that extra $20 charge refunded.

It's not even that big of a deal, but the overall impression I got was VERY worrying. Definitely not getting stuff from them online again. Not worth it.
