I barely take any damage dude, rarely use potions. Using heavy protector armor with +melee mods. Thunderjaw tail swipe hits me for 10% damage :p

If you learn the attack animations you can easily dodge the hard hitting melee attack. Use resist potions, they are amazing at negating elemental damage.

Wtf. I'm at lvl 21 and a Sabertooth can almost one hit me with a just a regular attack.

What's the difference between using corruption arrows and overriding? Duration of the effect?

Corruption only affects them for a short period of time, but you can shoot the arrows from a distance (also from stealth) so you don't need to get close for overriding.

Personally, I don't over ride anything unless I need a mount. Corruption arrows FTW.

What armor/mods are you running? The health boost potion is pretty useful as you don't lose health when you're hit, just the overheal.

Stealth armor, only has room for 1 mod. I just figured Very Hard was brutal with it's damages, maybe I'm doing something wrong but don't think so.

This is what you need

Range and corruption arrows let you control machines you haven't learned how to yet.

Thanks guys, it looks like I'll be using the arrows quite a lot

If you go stealth, Nora Heavy silent armour with 20%+ stealth mods is the way to go. Combine that with the less seen skill and quiet running skill and you will be a fucking ghost lol. It is lovely walking alongside some of these deadly robos.

Began playing this game today. And i gotta say the combat is pretty much garbage, sorry that is just how it feels after coming from nioh and Zelda. Janky as all hell and so on. That fight against the corruptor was just a frustrating shit show.

Hope the game gets better because so far i dont see What the hype is for apart from pretty graphics.

Lmao I'm so op in this game right now 😂😂. Nothing is challenging anymore. I can take on almost all the machines together n still lose minimal health. My weapons are almost 2-3 hit kills with mods on certain machines.

Are you getting in their face?

Because you should stop getting in their face. The emphasis on combat in this game is ranged, not close.

There would be a lot to gain if on harder difficulties, the thing that changed around was enemy placement. Rock Breakers being a little bit more frequent or escorting dinos with worthwhile loot would make things a lot more stressful.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

Combat is probably the games strongest aspect especially against the machines. This is one of the few open world games that I would say does not have janky combat but has combat that easily outdoes most action games in general whether they're linear or open world, East or West.

Edit: I'd say keep going because combat is great once you unlock more weapons and moves from the skill tree and the enemies are so well crafted to go along with that it makes a lot of fights a dream, an intense challenging one, but a dream none the less.

No tried hitting with fire arrows at the weak spots. Dont like how janky the aiming was while that boss was flying all over the place. Annoying fight AF.

You might wanna adjust the sensitivity. That fight isn't that annoying as that corruptors have GIGANTIC weak points,

While Stealth offers no protection, most of them you wont need it because it makes you practically invisible. They literally lose track of me mid battles. It's like they cant see me if i am not standing in front of them. it's amazing!

I almost never get hit because dodging is so easy in this game. I wish I had this suit while fighting the behemoths and rockbreakers though. those fuckers took me out in two hits.

What mods are you using? What about other elemental defenses?

There is another armor for elemental protection. Stacked it up with shock resist mods against the Stormbird and it barely made a dent.

Corruption arrows are so good, they are the only reason I don't replace my warbow for the otherwise superior slingshot.. Well that and the cool *click* sound it makes whenever you shoot an arrow.

Found a very personal moment in the game.

Spoilers for just past 'the proving':
If you visit Rost's grave at your old home you can speak to him. And it seems like it's laid out with a few separate speeches to catch him up as you have progressed through the game. Since I was now near the end I could choose to 'go on' with the dialogue three times.

Two small ones that are on the top? Gigantic?

Sorry but so far not feeling or liking the game much, its not like i am anti and dont want to. But that fight had me more frustrated than fights in Nioh.

How do you even adjust sensitivity? Nothing under controls in options.

Haha. In all seriousness though, I wonder what other override properties they can add.

I think the smart way to approach it is switching armor sets depending on what you are fighting. Instead of focusing on a jack of all trades set, boosting individual one seems a safe bet. Or just roll stealth and never get seen while taking over robots and having them fight for you.

So let me point one of the unsung heroes of game design in HZD... Saving. The abundance of save points means there is never one to far a way. They blend in with the environment. A single one button save option. No need to go in menus, unless for a manual save. More games could (and should) implement this.

I hate/love when this happens, when I finish a great game and feel like nothing else interest me because it's not said game. -_-

I feel the same way right now. i tried starting MGS 5 and I quit after a couple of hours because all I could think about was the amazing combat of Horizon. I'm 4 trophies away from the platinum so I'll finish those up and then come back to MGS 5 after Mass Effect and Persona.

Yup, against stormbird you can use the oseram heavy armor that provides shock protection. With 2 +44% mods and a shock potion, you barely take any damage.

I love the warbow for that reason only. Running with 3 + 44% corruption mods, one arrow corrupts anything.

That tumbler thing on it's left shoulder is a weak point, it's almost 1/5th of the body. Plus if you use fire, eventually another critical weak point gets revealed.

But if the game's not for you, it's not for you. Sensitivity should be in the game controls menu, I jack up my up down aim sensitivity about midway through when Glinthawks started to become an issue.

I'm a rare case that loves killing human enemies.

You're not alone. I love stealthing and head shotting them. And sure they are easier than the monsters but they allow for some downtime activities to even the pace out.

But then again, I loved some one's suggestion to have them use traps and make them their own challenge.

Ah, yes I found that. I looped around back there not long after the proving before I headed off into the world because it felt like something Aloy would do, and was rewarded with some nice dialogue cunningly acting as a summary of all that had happened and a gentle reminder of what I needed to do going forward. Which was nice.

This is what I've been doing. I have all of the very rare elemental armors purchased, each one stacked with the right mods, so if I come across anything that deals fire, cold, or shock damage, I become almost unstoppable.

These arrows made the final hunting lodge challenges a breeze.
I could dance around the legs of a thunderjaw while it did all the work for me or got peppered to death by the ravagers

Just finished it in 51 hours doing every mission except tutorials and challenges, amazing game.

I was almost sure that Nioh is my GOTY, now it has a great competition with Horizon.

Exactly. People who say this game isn't a RPG don't know how to play it like one :p
