Dark Souls III |OT+2| Why Can't We Poise the Game?

Can't decide if I want to make a new character for DLC2... My first playthrough of Ashes of Ariandel was at NG++ and the final boss was almost too much for me.
I'm prepping one this week now I've just about finished DQ8, I don't think I've played a Souls game this year yet except for a quick blast on DeS so I'm really looking forward to diving back in with the DLC, it's been too long!

Just got all rings, it was my last achievement to 100% the game, did the same for PTDE, not sure if I will for SOTFS

It's been a while since I last played. So rusty. I put down my soapstone at Pontiff and helped some people with my faith build. Then I had some fun in the post-Pontiff area with ember + dried finger + Way of Blue. Surprisingly few blue bros came to my aid, so I just ended up getting gangbanged by Aldrich Faithfuls.

Just defeated Aldrich but I'm not sure where to go now. Is there a way to tell which Lords I've defeated? I've been playing off and on so I have a hard time remembering.

You need to go back to the Yorshka's Church bonfire and go to the other opening in the river that doesn't have the hair spiders.

In the end I decided to upgrade to the maximum:

- Yhorm's Machete
- Dragonslayer Greataxe
- Dragon Tooth

That puts my +10 weapons count at 8.

From the preliminary testing it seems Yhorm's hits much stronger than FUGS but eats way more stamina (3 hits vs 4 hits with FUGS). Dragonslayer gives only a slight damage boost over FUGS even though having AR 80 higher and I can also swing it 4 times.

Can't really say which weapon is the best for now. I think if I would up my DEX to 80 then Dragonslayer would be the clear winner but for now they are kind of tied.

I will stay with FUGS for DLC#2 trash mobs and only switch for bosses if necessary.

16 more days folks till DLC#2 drops. The last known and unreleased Soulsborne content available.

Yhorm's Great Machete also weighs much less than the FUGS and has massive range.

The Dragonslayer Greataxe's damage is dependent on how lightning resistant the enemy is, since some of its damage is split.

And a much better move set.

Had some extensive coop adventuring last night with a friend. We polished off Abyss Watchers, Deacons of the Deep, cleared out Catacombs of Carthus and Irithyll of the Boreal Valley. Plenty of invaders and memorable moments. Dark Sword at +6 is working out quite well for me, and Pontiff was a memorable boss. Deacons not so much. The art direction in this game seems to have a lot of spillover from Yharnam, not that I'm complaining.

Lightning Storm kinda sucks.

Like I know that's redundant when it's an offensive miracle, but I was surprised at just how slow it was for so little damage.

Also, Dorhys's Gnawing destroys the
Nameless King
. I almost feel guilty for killing him in such a cheesy way. And then poor
Champion Gundyr
died in five Lightning Stakes. I feel like I'm a Dark Souls 1 sorcerer. Guess you really do get rewarded in the long run for playing with Faith.

Q: What does my 85 STR, 75 VIT LVL 259 Character lack?

A: 28 FTH for Sacred Oath + Deep Protection!!!

Back to grinding Anor Londo knights!!!

help me

I love the random antics you come across when invading or getting invaded.

Got invaded by two Aldrich Faithfuls yesterday. One of them was already fighting me, and the second guy arrived just in time to see me kill his bro with a point-blank 60 faith Sunlight Spear. The second guy did the curl up gesture and stayed there, so I did the praise the sun gesture and made my way toward the A.L. bonfire. The guy followed me but never attacked, and when I made it to the bonfire he dropped an ember for me, waved, and jumped to his death. Got a hearty chuckle out of me.

898 AR with Dragonslayer Greataxe +10 and Sacred Oath and Deep Protection.

DAMN!!!

Ready 4 U, DLC#2 bosses!

Also I kid you not but Dragonslayer Greataxe scales with STR/DEX and FTH (!!!)

i have my Quality build shell basically set up right now

30 Vigor
30 End
40 STR
40 DEX

Every other stat is base at the Knight starting class.

Question is - where do I take the build from here? I'm only at about SL101 and I'm aiming for about 125.

What does Faith offer to a Quality build? From what I've seen on YT, it just seems like it's a lightning buff?

Honestly, not much if you don't invest in faith. You can use deep protection (20 faith), sacred oath at 28 and lightning blade at 30. If you wanted to use deep protection, you could pump faith to 15 and use the priestess ring for the additional five points in faith. Offensive miracles are worthless at 30.

Would I just be better off putting more into my defensive stats then? I'm assuming it's not possible to put pyromancies in this build.

Pyro scales off of both int and faith, so not really. It's a sizable stat investment to begin with. You could put those points into vig, end or vit (if you wanted to make a tank build). Pumping faith to 30 to use a couple of buffs is kind of a waste to me, personally. Plus, the extra points in vig come in handy when doing coop or pvp.

It's the problem with elemental builds in this game - elemental infusions are so shitty that most faith builds are comprised of either high dex, str or both and then stat investment in faith and attunement. It's something that 2 nailed.

Invading as a Mound Maker will prioritize worlds with many players, allowing for maximum chaos. (from officialPrima guide)

This must explain why I'm having so much trouble with mound makers, always facing people in co-op. Watchdogs and Darkmoon felt easier to do, although getting summoned could take a while.

And I still haven't done Rosaria's Fingers or Aldritch Faithful, although I only need rank 1 of both. Damn it. I'm going to try to finish my DS2 platinum on PS4 first before going for these. Maybe there will be a boost in players when DLC hits.

Loading up Dark Souls 3 after playing a ton of Nioh...pushing all the wrong buttons. I think I'll have to run a character through the start of the game before the DLC drops, so I can retrain myself. :)

Just go farm stuff.

Was surprised how much the controls haven't changed as I started demon's soul again lol.

Yeah, not a bad idea. My next issue is that I have several characters that are end game, and I'm not sure which one I want to use to finish out the series. Serious problem right there, I know. :p

Fuuuuuuck, had me some great times in Dark Souls 3 today. Was supposed to be playing for only 40 minutes, but that turned into an hour and forty after I was co-oping, holding onto 34k Souls. Too tense man.

Is DLC2 aimed at high level characters? I have to decide what I'm gonna do. I have a 120 in NG+ and a few assorted lower to mid level characters in regular game

Irithyll Dungeon...did not expect so many jailers. Terrible memories of Latria, but with cattle brands lol. Also, getting to
Anor Londo
was sort of unexpected but very cool. Smouldering Lake oozed atmosphere and had some enjoyable fan service.

First time doing an Uchigatana run. Loving it so far! Didn't know some enemies were so susceptible to bleed. Even some bosses. Crystal Sage got destroyed in less than a minute.

Glorious Nippon Steel indeed.

I ended up making a strength build (I have a Pyro waiting for me after I decide I'm done with the strength build) and I'm having a blast so far. I think I like it more than my dex build. I'm currently at Aldrich. I didn't feel like taking him down last night so I farmed the Silver Knights and got their full set. Love the helm.

Something about DS3 feels really refined, and I think I dig it more than all the previous games. Level design isn't the best but the gameplay more than makes up for it.

Add Carthus Rouge and watch bosses just melt.

Refined is a good word - DS3 dropped all that was not good enough before and just distills what's best about Demon's/ Dark 1/ Dark 2/ some Bloodborne.

And no, level design in DS3 *is* best in the series. It's as good as DS1 but without the downside of post Anor Londo.
