2 wheel GAF UNITE!

Eh yeah, I haven't subtitled the video yet, but here's the project's first start and me riding it for 50 meters or so.

Ooh, I thought you were American. The US flag is even on your avatar!

Ah yes, my other love: videogames.

Anyway, my bike got some cool new stuff!

Congrats, all that looks excellent.

The downside to everything that was just installed is all the extra weight. I'm not exactly sure how much extra weight I added but it is noticeable. My rear shock hasn't bottomed out though, so that's good. Also, sometimes the panniers get in the way :p

I bet. Might not be a bad idea to fiddle with the rear shock settings a little, set it for a bit more weight.

Finished bleeding the brakes, changed the oil and filter, checked chain tension, lubed the chain, and checked my tire pressures and took Donatello out for the first ride of 2017:

Felt so damn good to be back. First ride since November.

Great shot! Such a good looking bike with those colors.

Went out on the Firebolt the other week just to make sure everything was OK with rebuilt front brake.
God, I've missed riding.

Nice.

Smaller displacement, sporty riding position... clearly you want an RC390!

Heh, I really like that thing. Whenever I see one I wonder what it's like to ride a small displacement bike as well sorted as the RC390. It looks positively luxurious.

Awesome, it's alive! I must admit it took me a minute to realise that the fuel tank wasn't missing, because your petrol is in the frame...

That's gonna be an awesome bike. Which plastics are you putting on it?

We're going for black plastics. Should work well with the rest of what's on there.

(In that sense) what I think is a pretty cool detail, is the magnesium/grey wheels. Those were never on Lightnings since they are Ulysses wheels. So nicely muted for such an outrageous bike.

Also, yeah it's weird seeing that missing tank. You do sometimes see custom buells with nothing but turbo setups and gauges that end up there and they just leave off the cover. Interesting, but I certainly like the cover there for visual balance.

I also thought the squealing at the start of the video was the engine, until I realised it was the tyre, heh

Black/black/grey wheels should look awesome. It'll be like my old Street Triple, except good

Thanks for sharing! Your bike is looking great. I like the colors as well. Also, I understood some words, believe me.

Np, thanks for watching. I should really just speak English in those videos, save me the trouble of subtitling :p.

Another issue we need to solve btw, now that I'm looking at that picture, is that the distance between the Firebolt footpegs and the Ulysses shifter is kinda big (which is why you can see me taking a while to find neutral at the end of the video).

Looks awesome, Fallout, I look forward to riding the finished product. ;)

By the way, any MotoGP fans in here? They banned last years' winglets, so now the fairing designs are coming back with a vengeance.

I don't know what to think. At least it will look like real prototype racing again? But god that Ducati is hideous.

Man, I hadn't seen that yet! Kinda funny that they're just like 'fuck it, we'll have our wings one way or another'. Looks terrible though.

You will! It'll be finished by the end of the month probably.

Same, "oh no", heh. Those smiles are pretty great, very impressed in you and your father's work here.

Yeah I had to put that freeze frame in there :D - thanks man.

Unfortunately watching MotoGP either requires me to subscribe to Sky (not happening), switch to a slower Broadband service for the same money (BT), or fork out almost £200 for the streaming service

I mean, it's great that MotoGP do a streaming service (looking at you Formula 1), but I'm not paying out that much. Maybe I'll actually get over to Silverstone in person this year instead, though I say that every year.

That's too bad. Eurosport broadcasts it over here, but I'm guessing they don't in the UK?

(Although I must admit I usually watch it via... other means. Arrrr)

British Eurosport does still do highlights (I think... that's how I used to catch it), but I don't get that any more either!

It's just a pity they priced the online pass so high really. It's about 4x more than I'd consider reasonable

Yeah, after seeing Ducati and Honda "efforts", it does kinda feels bad for the others who attempted to hide the aerodynamic surfaces at their best. Yamaha and Suzuki are basically unnoticeable, Aprilia's are more evident but the most refined. Ducati's solution is just hideous while Honda does not even try to hide them.

Prototype racing means all and nothing. Just like the rules limits displacement or cylinders' bore, it is perfectly acceptable to forbid specific aerodynamics solutions. I'd rather see them throw money at technologies more meaningful for consumers. lmproved fuel economy, electric power trains and batteries, etc.

Yeah, electric power trains would be interesting, especially since if I'm ever to buy a new bike again, it will almost certainly be full electric.

Well, I've narrowed it down to Suzuki Tu250x, or Honda Cbr250r. Both bikes are just a few years old. After the f650gs I swore off thumpers, but here we are. Suzuki looks cooler But is dog shit slow, while Honda is all plasticy and just regular slow. A decision must be made...

If they're the same price and we're just looking at numbers, personally I'd go for the CBR. That Suzuki is pretty basic (it has a drum rear even), and the CBR is probably more re-sellable

That said, fuck it, just buy whichever one looks cooler to you and makes you happy. That's what its all about in the end, just decide whether you want a little sporty bike or a little retro bike. The last time I bought based on the best bike on paper I ended up with the Street Triple, which I never truly enjoyed.

It sounds a little like you don't really like the faired look of the Honda, in which case, take the Retro choice and be free

Are 300/400 cc bikes out of question? The CB500 series is head and shoulder above those and less of a downgrade from the f650gs. And less thumper.

I have been keeping my eye on these guys here in the UK. They have come a long way and they now have a new top company guy that is set to make the more known and getting more bikes on the road. Also the government here in the UK gives us £1500 pounds towards the bike.

Again if would be nice to have a bike like this for the commuting and one for weekend. Also
waiting for them to add rapid charging so if I am stuck I can fill it to 80% in 15min.

The prices are also a bit steep for using it as a second bike.

This, I like this advice. My. Issue with faired bikes is the plastics always feel so cheap and they never end up fitting quite like they should. And, I really wanna make a cafe racer out of the little suzuki. It is why I was also considering the suzuki s40 since kit's are readily available for that as well (s40 gas tank too small, I'd be living at gas ststion) . Wait, how did you not enjoy street triple...!?

What are they asking for those LeroyP?
2500 USD, 2013, no drops or blemishes, full service history for both.

Not out of the question, but cb300 and cb500 were both recalled in US between 2014 and 2016, so I figured I'd just stay away. And I'd love a Ninja 300 with abs, but damn they are still basically at sticker price even used. And, buying a used Ninja that hasn't been dropped a gazillion times is actually quite challenging.

I say buy the Suzuki then man. If you look at it and it makes you happy, and it makes you smile when you ride it, then everything else is inconsequential

Wait, how did you not enjoy street triple...!?

It just wasn't for me. Kinda hard to explain but riding it never gave me the smile that the Ducati does now, or my Bonneville did before it. No slight against the Street Triple as the engine and handling are top notch, it just didn't have "it".. whatever that is.

Plus the alternator exploded, but I'd decided to sell it before that happened, so I won't hold it against the bike

Edit: though, if you want to build a cafe racer, I believe there are a ton of kits out there for the Ninja 250 in the US. I've seen them posted on Reddit from time to time

Lol, honestly leaning pretty hard toward the cbr 250. Things like having a fuel gauge, bigger gas tank, quicker pickup, and better breaks, Abs, kind of win out over looks. Plus I am biased to Honda and Yamaha over suzuki and kawasaki. Plus Honda will hold value well for when I eventually have the funds to upgrade.

Edit : or maybe I'm just making the best decision on paper...
fuck

Can you test ride them? Half an hour in the saddle will tell you all you need to know...
CBR owner bringing the bike by in a few hours. It has 5k less miles than the TU, is female owned, and basically brand new . My mind is. Pretty made up. At the end of the day the answer is to have multiple bikes. One for economy and city, a dual sport, a super sport, and a harley/vintage cruiser.

And a Buell because those reign supreme.

I figure I just need an GSX-R1000 and I've pretty much got all my bases covered.

Also I need a new garage...

You need a new garage because of the many bikes you keep adding to your collection ? :)

Also, how was the snow in your area? We got less than what the weather said. Wasn't so bad.

There is an evident slide mark on the painted exhaust. Has she been informative on it? Is the swing arm fine or there's a dent behind the exhaust?
She was up front. No denting behind exhaust. Got her to take a few hundred more off asking price. I plan on changing the muffler if anyone has any suggestions.

Edit: just signed up for insurance. 77dollars a year lol. Score

What the hell. I pay $17 per month for my Honda PCX150. It's not a lot, but still! Who's your insurer? My PCX got scratched up by some hit-and-run cuntass and the response from my insurance was useless, so I might switch.

Can't be forgetting about those Buells.

:D

Working on something similar. I want to be able to store my bikes in my own garage finally.

Got it. Thanks guys for talking me out of suzuki.

Pics coming once I figure out how on mobile

Very nice. It looks great in black.

Shhhhh.

18" and heavy winds, but it all settled down nicely and got everything cleared this morning in 2.5 hrs including the animal pens. Come ski our new hill:

It looks like OVER makes exhausts for the 250r as well. I always thought they were the coolest. It's a Japanese brand though, not sure how easy it is to get your hands on one where you live.

Progressive is my insurer. The bmw f650gs I had and the fz6 were all similarly cheap..?

:D

Why doesn't Alpinestars sell all of their suits in North America???

I want the Challenger suit, but their site says not available in NA.

We get shafted on suits for sure. I deperately need a new 1 piece since my Berik is looking pretty ratty.

Whats the deal with these suits anyway? They seem like they are built for guys with Hussein Bolt legs and i always have a lot of baggyness going on below the knees.

Been out and about on the bike today. It was far too bloody cold for kevlar jeans, thank god that the engine gets so damn hot. No pictures of the Monster today, I saw this decked-out MT-10, lovely bike

And Dainese suits are made for people with sticks for legs
